This Victorian home got the remodel of the century! The builders decided to keep the front Victorian and add an addition onto the back that is right out of the pages of Modern magazine. The clients are avid art collectors with great eye for detail. They presented us with a beautiful open space in the middle of the row hose with an over sized sky light directly over the opening. I have always been inspired by the great works of M.C Escher, so I put pencil to paper, or in this case mouse to AutoCad. A few days later, I presented the clients with my ideas and they loved the idea. The results are a single steel stringer floating stairs, with 2" thick maple wood treads, and side mounted clear glass railing. When you sit on the main floor, and look up at the skylight, you see what I sketched.

The upper level, steel grated stairs, have suspension wire railing, and are made of salvaged materials from the trade.
