This project is a perfect representation of how important small space design is. In this small Frisco, TX baclyard, we were able to fit a massive kitchen, great sized pool for how the family wanted to use it, and a raised fire pit/lounging area. This project has a very unique approach to the use of materials and features a turf to water's edge look. There is no coping on th e side nearest to the home, so we could open up their walkway and give a unique touch to their backyard project.

This project won in the 2013 Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh Housing Excellence Award for Best Urban Renewal Renovation Project. The glass bowl was made in the glass studio owned by the owner which is adjacent to the residence. The mirror is a repurposed window. The door is repurposed from a boarding house. George Mendel

This feature does exactly as it was intended. It does not take away from the central focal point (The large outdoor living area centered on the homes main windows), but it definitely brings a wow factor and unique approach to a water feature in a pool project. The different levels to the columns give a cool sense of dimension, and the black marble stone as the backdrop for the white marble tile on the columns help this feature stand out and catch your eye.

Sunken fire pit space elevated by custom tape lighting. This fire pit was integrated into the pool and provides a warm, inviting, entertainment driven space to the back yard.

The natural elevation in the yard allowed for us to create this raised turf seating area with a fire pit. Playing with natural elevation and creating dimension in a project is always a good opportunity to create a unique space within projects like this. The turf on this seating area really drives the warm, inviting feeling that you want to create when having a firepit in your space.
