The massive weeping beech in this courtyard is a beautiful example of making good use of a specimen tree. With the tree as the focus, clipped boxwood was used to complete the formal look.

The objective was to have a unique, attractive Landscape that would somewhat obscure and easily outplay the house. It is certainly not a normal 'design intent', but one to wow the neighborhood with specimen trees - From left to right: Hardy Northern Rubber Tree/Serbian Spruce/Stowe's White Pine/Thundercloud Plum, Weeping European Beech/Weeping Alaskan Cedar/Tree-Form Tardiva Hydrangea/Loggerhead Fir/Weeping Cherry and Dwarf Alberta Spruce.

Working around an existing large beech tree and weeping hemlock but removing a hillside of tall shrubbery in between, the new landscape allows for open views of the lake beyond.

Front door interest created with the use of three specimen trees; a weeping beech, a weeping white pine and a pom-pon austrian pine. Unusual material to provide a one-of-a-kind accent for the home's front entry. The ground covers provide the balance and continuity.
