This project combines high end earthy elements with elegant, modern furnishings. We wanted to re invent the beach house concept and create an home which is not your typical coastal retreat. By combining stronger colors and textures, we gave the spaces a bolder and more permanent feel. Yet, as you travel through each room, you can't help but feel invited and at home.

Lagoon-side property in the Bel Marin Keys, Novato, CA. Entertaining and enjoying the views were a primary design goal for this project along with replacing the lawn with CA native and low water plants and a total renovation. The project includes a large camaru deck with built-in seating. The concrete steps and pavers lead down to the water's edge. I included a sunken patio on one side and a beautiful Buddha statue on the other, surrounded by succulents and other low-water, contemporary plantings. I also used Dymondia ground cover to create a natural pathways within the garden. Plants shown: Bush Germander (Teucrium fruticans 'Azureum'), Sea Lavender (Limonium perezii, and Blue Oat Grass. We will call this an "elevated farm style" for the elegant farm family. Instead of painted white cabinets, these Soft Cream with Walnut Glaze cabinets from Showplace Wood Products take the kitchen from ordinary to elegant. Tan subway tile finishes the backsplash with herringbone feature at the cooktop. The lit glass front cabinets act as the perfect accessories along with gorgeous brushed pewter pulls and cup pulls from Jeffrey Alexander. The bells and whistles include the addition of refrigerator panels, in island microwave cabinet, pantry cabinet, bead board panels to finish the island, suede finish on the granite, crown moulding, and more. The complementing buffet cabinet ensemble includes Cherry cabinets with Coffee stain from Showplace Wood Cabinetry, lit glass front cabinets, roll out trays in base cabinets, storage galore and beautiful serving space on top.
