This remodel went from a tiny story-and-a-half Cape Cod, to a charming full two-story home. The mudroom features a bench with cubbies underneath, and a shelf with hooks for additional storage. This garden was designed to celebrate panoramic views of the San Gabriel mountains. This environment radiates energy from the ground up, showering the room in natural, vibrant color. FOCUS A majestic, floor-to-ceiling tree anchors the space, boldly transporting the beauty of nature into the house--along with the fun of swinging from a tree branch, pitching a tent or reading under the beautiful canopy. The tree shares pride of place with a unique, retroinspired room divider housing a colorful padded nook perfect for reading, watching television or just relaxing. STORAGE Multiple storage options are integrated to accommodate the family’s eclectic interests and varied needs. From hidden cabinets in the floor to movable shelves and storage bins, there is room for everything. The two wardrobes provide generous storage capacity without taking up valuable floor space, and readily open up to sweep toys out of sight. The pool in the backyard of this Omaha home is the perfect place to be on these hot summer days. It was an ideal spot to add outdoor bistro string lighting to create a unique ambiance for those warm summer nights. The light sconces on the wall and illuminating the trees, installed in an earlier phase, increases nighttime safety and creates an aesthetically pleasing backdrop while also increasing security around the pool. Its modest size makes it the coziest area of the house, and because of that it is the couple's favorite wintertime spot. "It's so comfortable to just lay around in," Jennifer says. "You sit down and all of a sudden you're falling asleep." The Milo Baughman settee is currently Jennifer's favorite piece. A recent birthday gift from Raymond, Jennifer found the tufted leather sofa on Etsy and drove 10 hours across Pennsylvania to pick it up. Consistent with the homes architecture and lifestyle creates a space to handle all occasions. Early morning coffee on the patio or around the firepit, smores, drinks, relaxing, reading & maybe a little dancing. Cedar planks set on raw steel post create a cozy atmosphere. Sitting or laying down on cushions and pillows atop the smooth buff leuders limestone bench with your feet popped up on the custom gas firepit. Raw steel veneer, limestone cap and stainless steel fire fixtures complete the sleek contemporary feels. Concrete steps & path lights beam up and accentuates the focal setting. To prep for phase 2, ground cover pathways and areas are ready for the new outdoor movie projector, more privacy, picnic area, permanent seating, landscape and lighting to come.

This family backyard outdoor living area was designed to showcase the natural greenery of the Pacific Northwest around planned areas for relaxation, outdoor dining and entertainment. The central feature is a patio plaza designed with curving natural shapes and made with Mutual Materials Columbia Slate Patio Stone in the color Summit Blend. Applying a paver sealant coating on top of the Columbia Slate intensifies the colors while providing protection from weather elements and fading. A prominent backyard feature is a large tree, which the patio was built around. Using Mutual Materials Roman Stack® retaining wall blocks, a raised circular garden planter was built around the tree and enhanced with plantings to create a natural foundational feature. The Summit Blend color was also chosen for the RomanStackstone, to color coordinate with the Summit Blend color in the patio stone.
