Matt and his crew were really pleasant to work with. They provided us just what we wanted to complete our kitchen work. Great solutions to countertops, island, ceiling, under cabinet lighting, new appliance installation. The crew was respectful and timely in their interactions and gave us honest recommendations feedback based on our needs.

My contract stated that they would prep the walls, cover all nail holes and do two coats of paint. They turned a 3 day job into a 2 day job and they finished up in under 8 hours each day. They actually bragged to me about how quickly they finished the job. They only did one coat of paint on everything. They used the wrong shade of white on my kitchen ceiling and on my bathroom ceiling. They painted an entire vaulted ceiling wall the wrong color even though I wrote the paint name in big bold letters in the correct shade of paint on the wall. They did not do ANY prep work. They didn’t cover a single nail hole, they didn’t prep a single surface, nothing. They didn’t cover any countertops. I had paint speckled all over my countertops. They didn’t paint behind the toilet. They skipped half of my baseboards, also they painted baseboards first and got paint speckled all over every single baseboard. They didn’t paint the inside of my kitchen cupboard door, they didn’t paint my closet door or my bathroom door. They did not take light cover plates off, they didn’t take electrical circuit covers off or the electrical circuit breaker cover off. They didn’t take door knobs off either, there was paint all over these things when they should had been removed for painting. Alex with third gen came over and took pics of all the areas I was pointing out. He said sometimes for whatever reason their painters just don’t do good work and they speed threw a job. Okay. He said the team would dedicate a full 8 hours to my place because he said it needed it. I decided to do all of the prep work because I kind of don’t trust this company, I also took the liberty to redo 5 walls completely. When Alex and his team got here I showed him the work I did and Alex had a fit. A complete fit. He told me if I wanted the nail holes all covered I should of done that prior to them painting... even though this is clearly stated in our contract. He refused to have his team paint the closet door or the bathroom door, the baseboards or the frame work to the doors. He looked at one wall from 6 feet away in a dim lit room and said, this wall looks fine why do you want us to repaint it? It only got one coats of paint... EVERYTHING only got one coat of paint. I could see the previous colors threw every single wall. They finished up in under 6 hours, they spilled a full gallon of paint in my front entrance condo hallway. They smeared white paint all over my kitchen countertop. They put a dirty black handprint on my extra white wall that I had painted. Every wall they repainted they dragged their rollers over the baseboards and let the color permanently dry to the baseboards. It’s been 4 months now and my carpeting still hasn’t been replaced and I have been redoing all of their work. I feel like they robbed me of $3,775 and now I have a huge paint project.

They did a full basement remodel and We could not be happier. I was given a an amazing quote and a time line for the project. With any job there was stuff that needed to be fixed but was still barely over budget. Matt worked with me to keep us in budget which was amazing customer service as well. He kept me informed of issues and addressed issues I had immediately. The whole crew was amazing, we love Terry from Wolfe plumbing, he is an awesome person and outstanding in is craft. Thank you to the whole 3rd Gen crew, we highly recommend and we will be using them for our bathroom remodel.

Matt from 3rd gen completed our master bathroom gut remodel. Couldn't be happier with the quality of the work and professionalism along the way. Matt is extremely responsive, transparent, and remained flexible as this project occurred directly over the pandemic. I presented complex design elements like rehabilitation of historic beams, a single level tile floor, unique electrical needs, etc. and always felt my voice was heard throughout the process. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again for a full remodel, or just a quick paint job. After years of unpleasant contractor experiences, this was a refreshing change of pace.

From the initial inquiry for a quote on a deck and exterior painting to the finished product, 3rd Gen was fantastic to work with. We knew exactly what the work would cost, and who would be doing it and when. The entire 3rd Gen crew was concerned about getting the job done to our satisfaction, working with us to make sure we were delighted with the finished product. Our neighbors and friends all exclaim how wonderful it looks. We agree! Thank you 3rd Gen!

Great experience using 3rd Gen to paint the exterior of our house. We also had them replace some rotting window trim and wood siding. Everyone we met for the quote, carpentry, and painting were professional, high quality, and efficient. They went above and beyond to get the job done before we had a patio installation starting the following week. Highly recommend.

Our house exterior was painted quickly and thoroughly--from beginning to end it took only four days. We were very happy with the final outcome, and I loved the colors and details. For the speed and quality, I definitely think 3rd Gen was a good value for the price.

We worked with Matt’s team on a couple of projects (shower/bath and recently Porch/painting) now. They are professional and reasonably priced. During the projects, if we provided any feedback, the team was responsive and good to work with. Both projects finished close to budget, and we are happy with the end results.

We couldn't be happier with the whole experience of working with 3rd Gen. They demolished an existing brick porch and installed a beautiful new composite one. In the planning phase, they did not push upgrades but instead explained the pros/cons well enough for us to decide what was best for our budget. The construction was completed ahead of schedule. They were courteous and professional while at our house. After it was built, they quickly addressed and fixed a minor aesthetic concern. Communication throughout the process was prompt. We strongly recommend 3rd Gen and look forward to having them out for additional projects.

We’re very happy with the work 3rd Gen Painting and Remodeling did on our basement in summer 2019. From the start, they seemed to understand what we were asking for, which was a nice and functional basement (with bedroom, bathroom, bar, and theater area) but not necessarily top of the line. The offer they provided was competitive and in our price range, while other groups we spoke with provided estimates that were 20-30% higher. Matt and his team stayed true to their initial estimate and any time that we opted for something outside of the original contract, Matt was very clear about what the additional cost would be and provided an addendum. They finished the project on time and the quality of work is amazing. Some of the unique things we asked for included - 1) a patterned tile floor in bathroom, 2) wallpaper behind the bathroom vanity for a ‘feature’ wall, 3) brick backsplash behind our bar, and 4) long butcher block bar countertops. One of the things we appreciated most was Matt and Paul’s responsiveness - any time we had concerns/feedback, we were able to get ahold of them that day. They took calls after hours and on the weekend, which was important for us because we both work full time. They were also receptive to concerns or new ideas that came up during the project, and were focused on making us happy with the end result. We’d recommend them and use them in the future, and are happy to elaborate if Matt/Paul use us as a reference.

Product quality and workmanship is excellent. I had a two level deck replaced and the workers went over it every step of the way. The owner, Matt, responded to all my questions within a day, sometimes within an hour. I've done a lot of remodeling and have never had that level of customer service. The workers were always on time and completed the job to the day they had estimated. Everyone was extremely courteous and friendly. As for the value, the material I had chosen is expensive no matter who does it. For me the cost was worth the results.

My wife and I bought a house in Hinsdale and wanted to paint the entire interior before moving in. The 3rd Gen team were awesome to work with the entire way. From planning, to color consultation, to turnaround time and high quality delivery, I could not be more pleased by the experience with 3rd Gen Painting. We are now planning to have them paint the exterior of our house.
