Caribou Construction did extensive renovation work on the exterior of our home in Carmel, including installation of a new deck and cedar siding. We could not have been more pleased. John Fitzpatrick has done many repairs and upgrades on our home over 20 years. His wisdom and expertise always delight us. He has upgraded the bathrooms , redone the kitchen, the chimney and the guest room and painted the outside of the house and some of the inside. John builds large homes and repairs small ones. He knows who the good subcontractors are and puts up with no nonsense.

We hired Caribou for a fairly large home remodel in 2013 and have used them for various sized projects at our home and office since then. We recommend them without hesitation. John is super professional, honest and knowledgeable. Steve is trustworthy and very skilled at building/fixing things.. I felt we were in good hands with them. Having heard many horror stories about contractors, we were very happy with our experience. They were not the cheapest but they were not the most expensive either. They took their time to give us a thoughtful estimate and it was accurate. There were very few surprises and we completed our project on budget. They showed up on time and lived up to their word. John runs a very tight ship which is just what you want. All the work they did has held up beautifully. They are honest, competent and professional.

We used Caribou a couple times over the last several years. One was to do a significant remodel of our home and a few years later to do an addition and a major master bath remodel. Caribou did a fine job and pretty much completed the work on time and on budget. The quality of the work was quite good. I'd definitely recommend them.

Caribou Construction and its founder/owner John Fitzpatrick were recommended to us by a retired home inspector we have gotten to know. We thought he would be well positioned to recommend craftsmen whose work justified consideration for helping us with a renovation of a home we were purchasing. It turned out to be an excellent choice. Organized and closely monitored by John, his crew of specialized painters, carpenters, electricians, carpeting and wood flooring, plumbers – in short any expertise needed –the results could not have been more satisfying. All work performed was to the highest standard. There was not a single do-over necessary. What’s more, we had to move in much earlier than had been planned. This meant that John and his crew had to suddenly accommodate to our presence in their work space. Despite the obvious complications, John and every craftsman could not have been more considerate and helpful, including making adjustments and undertaking additional tasks and best of all making suggestions that invariably worked out perfectly. If faced again with the need for a general contractor with a well-earned reputation for excellent, on-time and on-budget work, our first call would be to Caribou and John Fitzpatrick.

Caribou Construction did a complete, ground up remodel of our Carmel Valley home about three years ago and did a terrific job. The quality of workmanship was excellent, the effort (seven days a week when needed) was exceptional and the project was completed in a timely manner and on budget, except for changes we added as the project progressed. John Fitzpatrick was very good about keeping us apprised of the status of the project and costs incurred to date. We were managing this project from about 350 miles away, so being regularly informed with emails, calls and photos was very important. John stands by his work as well. Some months after the project was completed, we had some problem with the exterior paint over stucco walls. John worked with the paint supplier, the stucco contractor and the painter to correct the problem at no cost to us. John is a true professional and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Jack Hardy
