We had Crystal Exteriors come to our home to see if we had a leak in our roof. They were very thorough, professional, pleasant, and most of all, honest. After inspecting our roof, Edgar Li determined that it wasn't a leak from the roof, but probably condensation since it is the coldest room in the house. We had rain, and, no sign of water. Very honest contractor!

From my very first meeting with Edgar Li, I knew this was a company I could trust. They replaced both front and rear entry doors and did a superb job all around. The price was very competitive, but the service was truly exceptional. The crew was efficient and respectful of the rest of the house, and did a superb job of keeping the construction mess and dirt cleaned up throughout the entire installation process. Everything about this company displays the highest level of professionalism, and I would have no hesitation about recommending them to anyone who needs doors, windows, roofing, etc. I will definitely be contacting them again when it's time to replace the roof in a few years.

We had an excellent experience with Crystal Exteriors. Edgar Li, the president, was always available and checked on the work every day. His advice and suggestions were excellent. We were notified when each section of the job (siding, roofing, gutters, doors) would be started and completed. All the crews were very experienced, worked hard and tidied up when finished. There was not a moment's worry on our part. Edgar also did extras that were much appreciated (relocated backdoor light, added a porch outlet, changed the garage frame). He recommended and used the highest quality materials. The price was very reasonable, but the value was superior. Highly recommended. First, the best professional advice (from Edgar Li) that we have encountered. He is a graduate engineer, very smart, very experienced, very dependable, always reachable, very quality conscious, very responsible for the quality of the work performed. Could not ask for more. The workers have been with him for years and we watched them in admiration. The work was performed sooner than anticipated. The quality of materials chosen was tops. We were very glad to have "discovered" Crystal Exteriors. We were frustrated in finding an excellent contractor. We had had offers that ranged from one-half to twice as much as what we paid. Most importantly, we had zero confidence in the people that were making those offers. Edgar Li is top notch. We had not met anyone like him.

We bought a new “older” home which required a roof and siding replacement. We chose Crystal Exterior and couldn’t be happier. They did a fantastic job. If you need a new roof or siding, we highly recommend this company; contact them and get an estimate. It will be well worth your time. Our points of contact were Edgar and David. They came to our house on a weekend day to inspect the existing roof and siding and to take measurements. Two days later, they sent us a detailed proposal describing the scope of work to be performed and total cost estimate. If you like details then you’ll love how they work up their proposals. They provide pictures, diagrams, and bullet lists. They break down the costs of everything, line by line. You know what you are getting in terms of materials, quantities to be used, costs of each and most amazingly, cost of labor. If you aren’t into details, you’ll appreciate the transparency. This is a company that employs its own people; they don’t use subcontractors. Edgar and David put us on their calendars and work commenced approximately two weeks later. They remained in constant contact with us throughout the project. We found their workmanship to be top notch. There was no hasty rush to finish the projects and no demand of payment at COB the day the projects completed. In fact, after the work was completed, Edgar scheduled a walk thru with us to address concerns or lingering questions. Only when he knew we were satisfied with the end product, did we discuss payment. He never rushed us or treated us like another job on his punch list. Notwithstanding all the positives I’ve already shared, Edgar and David were unparalleled in their level of customer service. Anytime we had questions or concerns, they were available. Their email responses were virtually instantaneous. They were flexible and accommodating. They went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. When we had difficulties deciding on a roof color, they offered suggestions and provided addresses of homes in surrounding neighborhoods where they had performed roof work. We got to see how a small color sample looked upon installation. We also asked them to add a new box vent to the roofing area above our master bathroom so that we could install an exhaust fan. They gladly accommodated our request. Finally, in the midst of the roof replacement project, we discovered that we were not fond of the way the flashing looked on a particular area of the roof. We reached out to Edgar and David, feeling a bit apprehensive as a great deal of progress had already occurred. To our surprise and relief, they took our concerns in stride, vowing to fix the flashing to our satisfaction. Our experience with the company was overwhelmingly positive. Without hesitation, we recommend them for your next roof or siding replacement project.

We liked Edgar, the owner of Crystal Exteriors, right away. He was very responsive when we contacted him for an estimate, and met with us within two days of contact. He walked around our house and gave us his immediate ideas about the work we wanted done, told us about some things we could consider, and then let us know that he would provide an estimate within three or four days. He sent us an estimate that was very reasonable, and far below the cost of other estimates we had received. We had several questions regarding materials. Our house was sided with cedar shake siding, but it had rotted and needed to be replaced. We decided to go with James Hardie siding for low maintenance and longevity. We did not opt to get Hardie trim, but instead elected to go with PVC trim. Edgar answered all our questions, from house wrap, to insulation, to siding, to trim, to front doors. He was always very responsive and never seemed to be trying to "sell" us on an idea. He would give us options for us to consider, and we could make a judgment. Edgar was always straight-forward and encouraged us to get as much information as possible. We decided to go with Crystal Exteriors in part due to the difference in price, but also because I believed that we would be satisfied with the work and Edgar would stand by it. Peter, the main person working on the house, was very cordial and an extremely hard worker. He did an amazing job. Everything looks perfect. No shoddy corners or bad angles, and our house has a ton of angles, trim, crown, and tight spaces. He is a true professional. The work was initially delayed due to rain, and took longer than anticipated. At one point Peter was pulled off our job for a few days due to some other work that needed his attention at another location. We were a bit disappointed with the delay, but it was not critical. I expressed our disappointment to Edgar, who, instead of making excuses or getting defensive, apologized and said that they would work very hard to minimize the delay going forward. He said that there were no excuses for the delay. Edgar is a true professional. We are so happy with our working relationship with Edgar, the workmanship, Peter's professionalism, cleanliness of the workplace, and the final result, that a delay is not significant. Our new front door is beautiful and very well-made; our new window looks great and matches the style of all the other windows in the house; the siding and trim work are exceptional. We have received many compliments on the work already. Even yesterday, when Edgar came over to discuss a small "punch list" of outstanding items (like some obsolete wires that can be removed from the house and a downspout that can be cut shorter on the end) a neighbor stopped us to say how much he liked the siding and to ask for Edgar's card. Edgar went above and beyond what we asked him to do at every step. He found a replacement window for a window that was not sealed properly and fixed it without charging us. He extended a gutter and downspout on the end of our house that had caused some pooling problems because it did not extend to the end of the roof line. He and Peter attached a new door knocker I wanted to the door and replaced the hardware when the included hardware was not long enough to fit. He gave me a vial of touch-up paint to disguise the bolt from the new door knocker as well. And the price for enclosing a space that had a wasteful extra door, taking out a glass block window, and fitting a new bottom-up/top-down window at counter height in our kitchen, was amazing, especially for the utility of having the extra space in our kitchen. All in all, Edgar and his team are amazing to work with and I would recommend them and their work to anyone who needs roofing work, siding, doors or windows. You will not be disappointed. If you are (you won't be), Edgar will fix it. He is great at what he does, and is a very nice guy, which is all anyone can ask for.

Edgar Li was the fourth and final provider that provided us an estimate to replace three of our exterior doors: Front door, back french doors and back patio door. He was communicative, punctual, and straightforward. He was able to meet the least expensive estimate, but I felt that he was more detail-oriented than all of them as well. His installer is an employee and has been for several years. He was here all day, installing the two back doors. He ensured that the space was tarped off, so that no dust could get in the rest of the house, and that it minimized inconvenience. Mr. Li stopped by a few times to check in the work - everyone was fantastic. The installer came back on another day to do the front door, as it was special ordered and needed to come in. This time there were two guys, and my double front doors became one beautiful door with sidelights. I most appreciated the attention to detail and level of customer service that Mr. Li and his employees provided. This is a small, local, well-run business, and it was a great experience all around.

Our experience with Crystal Exteriors and Edgar (the owner) was outstanding. They did our roof and siding, and a few other items that we identified as necessary along the way. We learned about Crystal Exteriors from the contractor we hired to redo our kitchen cabinets. We had a terrible experience with a larger company in the area that had visited our home several times to provide estimates and discuss the project. We also had another company provide a quote, so we have several data points to compare against. Meeting Edgar was a breath of fresh air. From day one, it was clear that we hit the jackpot. It’s not easy to find someone in this particular industry that does extremely high quality work, stays within budget and schedule, and conducts business in a hands-on and completely transparent way. This is Edgar. First, the price was the most competitive amongst the three bids we received. As with most folks in this industry, he offered a percentage discount on the total project to do the roof and siding together. Along the way, we also had Edgar install screen doors on the front and back door, new gutters, railings on the front porch and back stairwell, and reinforce the footer of one side of our house that had been improperly installed. He also just did (without asking) numerous small tasks along the way that we wouldn’t have necessarily thought about needing (e.g., installing new locks on the doors, house numbers, getting new keys made for us). He never charged us more for these things either, but still did not go over the agreed budget. In fact, when the price of the screen doors increased from the time he quoted us and the time we started the project, he offered without hesitation to absorb the cost. Throughout the project, Edgar was extremely hands-on. He emailed us regularly to send pictures of the project from the day or to ask questions that needed a decision and we met with him at least two times a week at our convenience and nearly daily when the project was at its peak. He was endlessly kind, respectful, and honest. The roof: The roof process went very quickly. His crew was finished in roughly two days. It seemed relatively standard in terms of procedure and quality of work. There was quite a lot of rotting or damaged wood that they needed to fix and they re-built our skylight from scratch to no longer leak. The only other thing worth noting is the added detail he built into our dormers in the process. He added some wood along the edges of the dormers to give them texture, and to allow for a more creative design once the siding was put on. He made it into a nice triangle that provided more depth and a very classy/modern appearance. The siding: The process for doing the siding couldn’t have more different. The siding was done exclusively by one of his two siding people that are on his team – Peter. It took a little longer than most companies would to do siding, but it was worth it. Peter approached the project like a meticulous artist, and provided incredible attention to detail, but not at the expense of completing the work, which took roughly 2 weeks in total. The advantage of having this one person do it was that it produced a crisp, seamless, and consistent look around the whole house. He was also able to identify a few challenges and then solutions that might have been overlooked by a larger team. For example Edgar and Peter found significant exposure/poor insulation under our addition near the basement stairs. Although they didn’t plan for it originally, they added additional material and closed it off in a very elegant way so that the house wouldn’t lose heat from there in the winter. Suffice it to say, we would work with Crystal Exteriors again in a heartbeat. Edgar and his team are amazing.
