We engaged Alex to renovate our downtown loft — twice. The first renovation was the essentials — enough to make it start to look like the vision she created based on our wishes for a cool, clean, warmly minimalist ‘gallery’ style loft while taking advantage of extraordinary views, light and soaring ceilings. The first reno to execute the basics (pre move in) went very well, despite some challenges posed by the age of the building. The second larger reno to really create the home we dreamed when we saw it was a dream … we were both busy executives with little time, needing a pro who instinctively knew what we would like yet also offered choices at various price points. Alex made sublime choices for everything from paint colors to furniture to soft furnishings and accents, window treatments and finishing touches. She was quick to respond and always offered creative solutions. While we were absolutely delighted with our home at the finish, as always there are small things that come up later — and Alex has always been at the ready to step up and help us find the answers to our queries. I loved working with Alex, as did our main contractor. We love our home and everyone who sees it is a bit awestruck at the ambiance and style. I would unquestionably hire Alex again and am so appreciative of how she brought the visions to life and more.

Brutal service. Did not order what we had agreed on. Still charged me. And did not return calls or emails. Owes me over $2000 for items I paid for but were never delivered. No follow-through or customer service at all.

Looking back at my renovation, hiring Alex to help me was the best decision I made. She helped me along every step of the way ensuring that my home was exactly what I wanted and keeping in mind best practises for when it comes time to sell. Alex multiplied her value by helping me get discounts on my furniture and blinds as well as other large purchases. I would hire Alex again in an instant. I'm absolutely in love with the final result and it's thanks to Alex as I see the impact she's made on this space every day. Thanks Alex!

We hired Alex to design a lower floor renovation for us. I start out with high expectations and Alex exceeded every one of them. From the overall design, to her selection of furnishings, and of late, help blending existing chachkas with new items that she purchased, the room is magnificent. When hiring a designer, i think it's fare to expect that you will get a good design, especially since we have the opportunity to review it prior to construction, as well as selecting furnishings. Alex met those expectations 100%. But she did so by being a lovely human being, always positive, caring and never made us feel that our opinion didn't matter. She also didn't assume that budget was unlimited and directed us to furnishings that were affordable and within budget. She also selected items that fit our aesthetic so in the end, the main floor feels like it is ours, rather than something you'd see on a showroom floor. Although it's beautiful enough we will be more than happy to show it off once visitors are allowed back in. I highly recommend Alex Dampsey Design. We are delighted with the services she has provided to us.

I have used Alex to do two bathrooms in my home. Our experience with her was terrific. As the other reviews state she was wonderful and easy to deal with.

This was my first experience using a designer. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted but wasn’t the sure where to begin, what things cost or the logistics of anything. I found Alex from looking very extensively online. Her style seemed to align with mine so made an appointment for a consultation. She recommended a great contractor and we were in our way. Alex has a great demeanour with a mix of guiding without imposing her point of view She is considerably younger than me but she was not afraid to tell me what she thought or preferred while still giving me options and, in the end , letting it be my choice. My condo is stunning. Every time I walk in the door I feel joy and comfort. Doing a reno is a journey. It is something that begins with a plan which evolves as you proceed. I would highly recommend having Alex along for the trip.

Alex was amazing from start to finish. Our initial consultation went extremely smooth as her suggestions were spot on and she was able to visualize our blend of modern/traditional/farmhouse perfectly (translation: neither my husband or I are great at compromising and she was able to manage us). This instilled a lot of confidence from the start of the project and we were able to move forward without trepidation. The result is a home that feels like it reflects our style, and is warm and inviting with lots of little details suggested by Alex we might not otherwise have considered. She worked well with our contractor and trades, is very professional and is generally a lovely human to deal with. Highly recommend:)

You can depend on Alex to advise and offer solid options. Alex has a great eye and easily determines what you are looking for in terms of "your" project. This your becomes "ours" very quickly and the results are amazing.

I hired Alex and her team for a full renovation of my 11 yr old, 800 sf Vancouver apartment. Alex was quick to help me determine a design aesthetic and project scope to fit my budget. From counter-stone to bathroom tile, paint colors, custom woodwork, kitchen appliances, furniture and all the finishing details, Alex was knowledgeable and well connected to vendors and tradesmen that provided high value. I couldn't imagine having to pick through tile or fixture samples on my own - it's completely overwhelming! Having to choose from 2 or 3 options that Alex provided was a breeze.
