About Us

Design a home that serves you from the inside out. Alex Von Ahsen has been an interior designer for over ten years.. The key is the relationships and getting to know the client.. My technical expertise complements an approachable, hands-on style and meticulous attention to detail. Alex earned his Degree in Interior Design in 2009. Prior to working at Dwell, Alex was the Store Manager and In-Home Designer at Phelan's Interiors and Interior Elements. Alex has earned many prestigious honors, including being a finalist in the Norwalk Furniture Design Star contest, consecutive years as a Best of Houzz , 2012-present and has had his designs featured publications, Elements, Home and Garden and Gallery of Homes.. For Alex, being a designer is all about the relationships he makes with his clients and other design professionals. He feels strongly that getting to know the client's style preferences and personalities helps him to create unique, beautiful spaces that make the client feel at home. He helps guide clients through the process of finding all the perfect elements that fit not only the look but also the functionality of every lifestyle. Alex is an amazing designer! He is a very intentional listener, which results in a perfect new design within your home. We have used his services twice and could not be happier with the results. He thinks of all the details and discusses them with you. Absolutely love his work!

Just wanted to take a moment to comment on the wonderful experience I had with Alex, while selecting new home furnishings. I have never used a designer before, but know that now I will always need the assistance and experience that Alex provided. Items that I probably never would have considered, look absolutely stunning in our home. My husband and I are enjoying the comfort and beauty. We have received so many compliments. I would definitely use Alex again and would refer him to friends and family.

Alex is amazing! We moved into a late 1990s condo in the Midwest and wanted to modernize but still keep some of the vintage vibe. To further complicate matters, we had come from a Texas farmhouse and had some Western pieces we wanted to incorporate. From paint colors, to artwork, to furniture placement, Alex was spot on. He helped us beautify a space that I love coming home to every day. If I ever leave this place, I will definitely utilize his services again, even if I have to fly him to our new location!

Alex helped us freshen up our living room and dining room--new window treatments, colors, and a fun chair. He listened well and offered options that both fit well with our current style and nudged us toward some new ideas. He followed up to make sure we were satisfied with the results. He's easy going and has good attention to detail. We'd definitely work with him again.

Alexander is doing an amazing job with our home design. Our suggestions and ideas were very well received by him, and he gave us prompt responses and detailed projects. He took into consideration the needs of our family, the characteristics of our home and the budget we had. It has been a great experience so far, and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the house will look like. We hope to continue to benefit from Alex and Sabrina's expertise in making our home a wonderful place to live.

Alex Von Ahsen nailed it!!! He successfully achieved the goals of completing my interior design home projects through the pandemic and beyond, never ceasing to exceed my expectations. His professional talent, skills, experience and knowledge proved to me that I could trust his judgement and rely on him to manage the tasks at hand. His unique, creative ideas and suggestions were always “right on”. Alex enthusiastically and efficiently coordinated the projects from beginning to end with my utmost satisfaction. Alex is fabulous to work with! He listens to our vision for our home and is able to select beautiful pieces for us to choose from to help meet our goals. We are in love with a gorgeous sectional he selected for our living room that has now become our family's favorite space. His suggested paint color and new blinds for our dining room were exactly what we needed in that room. We have ordered a coffee table, dining room table, and light fixture and can't wait for them to arrive! I am so grateful for Alex's skills and professionalism and look forward to his assistance as we continue to improve our home one piece at a time!

Alex and his college Sabrina did an exceptional job walking us through a "new" look for our new build. After years of living in a very traditional home with traditional furnishings they made us feel comfortable with a contemporary look. They were more than willing to adjust items as we worked through the process, many times remotely. We'd highly recommend Alex, Sabrina and Dwell.
