Our project was a raised veranda designed to take in the magnificent views on our property. We had concerns about the feasibility of the project given the engineering concerns and matching the original spirit of the house. When we first began interviewing different firms for the job, the only person that truly understood the entire scope of the project was Michael. He and the engineer worked collaboratively on the structural solutions and design so that when we started the project there were no surprises. The original roof and other portions of the house had to be reinforced, and yet once it was done it was totally invisible. Michael and his team are true craftsmen- the thoughfulness and attention to detail throughout was impeccable, despite all the challenges that a project of this type can bring. He went the extra mile to combine the modern aesthetic of invisible joints and no mouldings that we were looking for with a coherent vision to complement the rest of the house. Our veranda is the ultimate grownup treehouse- and I could not imagine anyone else being able to deliver a project like this- Michael and his team were amazing as well as being great people! I would recommend them unreservedly. 5 stars on all fronts.

Michael and the Altmax team were engaged to replace all the windows in our cottage in addition to a number of other smaller repairs and upgrades throughout the house. He was prompt in returning my original request, personally came to the house to better understand the project and gave an honest and clear indication of when the work could be completed. To Whom It May Concern, I had the utmost pleasure meeting Michael Iafigliola back in the Spring of 2022 after an extensive search to find a contractor who would take on the very special project of renovating my family home that my late Father had first built upon arriving as an immigrant to this part of Canada from Eastern Europe post World War 2. I had originally reached out to five contractors in the Laurentian region here in Quebec and to my surprise, only ever heard back from one and this is where my good fortune commenced with Michael and the Altamax Team. After briefly speaking to Mike over the phone on a Saturday, he agreed to meet me briefly the next day, (his supposed day off) and take a look at the house, property and meet me in person. What was supposed to be a 45 minute meeting turned into a few generous hours of Mike's time to hear my Dad's story and get a real feel for the scope of work that had to be executed. I'm very grateful to say that from that day forward Mike and his dedicated team of young, passionate and incredibly skilled artisans became not only what I now consider personal friends but so much more than that. Each and every one of these men brought a certain skill set and vision not to mention unique character traits to this project every day, five days a week for almost a full year. I had three pillars and motivations with my vision for my home that I was practically born in back in 1971. For me, it was simple, Preservation, Restoration and Environmentally sound and fortified were my wishes for this home. Team Altamax not only delivered the "goods" but so far exceeded my expectations for the project that I sincerely will never be able to express the true gratitude I now feel after officially moving back in this past December 4th, 2023. What started out for us all, especially Team Altamax was a fairly straight forward project but upon getting word that my foundation had succumbed to years of harsh Canadian weather and had to be replaced, the project and obvious stress levels for me personally intensified both financially and physically, however, this is where a true, honest, skilled, professional and above all else, empathetic contractor and team leader shines and Mike Iafigiola is that star contractor, hands down! Team Altamax officially started demolition and work in mid January 2022 and with so much care and positive energy I knew in my gut I had the very best team on my side and not only did the team finish on the exact day my permit expired, ( Dec. 23/23) but with five hours to spare! Mike and his team took so much pride and care in the daily tasks of bringing new life and energy to a home that literally means the world to me. Mike at Altramax helped us build our log cottage. Throughout the process he helped us make important choices, provided us sound advice, and helped us achieve our dream property. He took the time to explain why he was doing what he was doing, and actively saved material where he could minimize costs and the workmanship was impeccable. This was key during the pandemic where prices were much higher than normal. Mike helped us safe costs. Every build has those key moments of concern and confusion and this is when you are thankful you have someone who has experience. My wife and I appreciated his collaboration and his straightforward approach and most of all his taste in design. He knows what he is doing (an especially log) with any type of construction and knows quality trades in the business. I wished I had taken his recommendation for our well company the first time. I did the second time and we have an excellent well. (thank you Conrad and Catherine @ La Fountaine and thank you Mike!!). I could write a novel about how great Mike and his crew are but it is safe to say I look forward to my project and I would always call Mike first and get on his agenda. Mike is busy but if he has time to take you as a client, you will be lucky to have him. Plan ahead is my advice and call Mike @ Altamax first.

Mike helped me renovate our 70+ year old family cottage on a lake. He transformed it from a closed-in boxxy structure into a stunning home with panoramic views. I presented Mike with my ideas and wishes and he was able to make it work, all with fine quality and workmanship. I particularly enjoyed his openness to ideas and his creativity, along with his superior knowledge of all manner of construction, structural issues and particularly his understanding of older homes and their quirkiness. There were no challenges that he couldn't problem solve and we were left with a beautiful, open, cozy and comfortable home that showcases both our granite fireplace and the stunning lake view. Of which we've always had but can now truly see! Mike was by far the most professional, knowledgeable, skilled and honest contractor I've ever worked with. He and his crew were outstanding. They were punctual, friendly and respectful. The workmanship was outstanding and just as importantly, their communication, and work ethic were exemplary. Michael and his team transformed a very simple lake house into a place where our family can grow and entertain. Our home had many issues and because there was nothing standard it truly relied on Michael’s many years of experience to get the project to where it is. They connected the main house to a newly constructed double garage, complete demolition of the interior of the home down to the studs. New design, insulation, plumbing electrical, lighting concepts, windows, doors, kitchen, bathroom and flooring. Shiplap detail walls and cathedral ceilings. We added a huge extension balcony which extended the length of the home. It was one of our biggest projects ever and Michael and his team handled it with ease. Always professional and willing to help and support with any ideas we had. We are happy to have our new home but sad that our time for now with Altamax has come to an end. We will most certainly work with them next year to take on the lower level of our home.

We hired the Altamax crew to repair the deck on our chalet. The beams of the deck were sitting on a slowly shifting rocky terrain and needed to be stabilized. Michael and his team did a superb job of reinforcing the beams. They came in on time, on budget and were a pleasure to work with. I would feel fully confident in hiring them again for future renovations to our house.

I am familiar with building methods and was very happy to see that he is up to date with the latest building techniques and always went above minimum code in every step. After hearing many nightmare stories about bad contractors, I did a lot of research before making the choice to hire Altamax to redo my common bathroom and I could not be more satisfied. I chose Altamax because of the fact that the pictures on the site (Houzz) showed attention to detail at every stage, had strong reviews, and when I sent out requests for information Michael responded quickly and listened to my needs. One of those needs was doing a complete overhaul on the bathroom in a short deadline right before the holidays. Not only did they deliver a beautiful finished product, they actually finished a couple of days before the deadline. After seeing what Mike Lafigliola ( Altamax Construction) did for my boy friend, I was impressed with his incredible workmanship, and had a brand new kitchen and small powder room built in my home ( built early 1950's). There were a number of challenges, but Mike is very innovative, communicates well with his customers, and is a great coordinator with other tradespeople. He did not disappoint my expectations in him, with fair pricing and it was done very quickly. I am thrilled with results.

Mike and the team at Altamax were a great asset to my build In Wentworth Quebec, they delivered to my very difficult demands as my house was custom from start to finish. Mike at Altamax does terrific work. He is probably not the least expensive option around (but you get what you pay for) but he is sensitive to budgetary constraints and provides plenty of information about alternative choices to allow an informed decision. He is clearly an expert in his field. Also important is that he is highly reliable: he shows up when he says he will and stays at it until the job is done. And most important is that I trust him. He's a nice guy. I highly recommend him.

We hired Mike and his team to renovate our ensuite bathroom,a complete makeover. The original bathroom was a tiny cubicle with a closet door and a small corner shower. Mike extended the space of the bathroom by utilizing space from the entrance and corridor and now we have a beautiful bathroom that feels light and spacious. In undergoing the bathroom Reno, many other problems were apparent and needed urgent repairs: The wooden roof above the bathroom was rotten and infiltrated with water. Mike and his team worked diligently to get everything done and done well. We were grateful to have Mike because it was prime time for construction and availability can be difficult. I had to build an addition on my post and beam cottage (which is far away) and needed a reliable contractor which was experienced in this type of construction. I came in contract with Mike from Altamax. He gave me a cost estimate which he honoured and build a quality addition. He was organized with his team and managed to complete the work on time.
