We first used Beds and Borders to transform our traditional, boring front entryway to a beautiful native planting using natural stone for steps, a boulder retaining wall, and minimizing our steep slope. First and foremost, Andy listened while I was saying what I was looking for. He made sure he understood what we wanted the finished design to look like, what plants I didn’t care for, and especially what are budget was. The whole team was great. All my questions were answered and explained. I felt like my input was valued. The project was completed on time and a bit under budget. We really liked the presentation of the design and being able to make tweaks to it. We were totally blown away by the results!

Beds and Borders designed and installed a landscape plan for us that touched everything on our property. They basically stripped and replanted the entire yard at our 60 year old home. The new design included re-grading, numerous trees and shrubs, boulder and paver installation, retaining walls, mulch and sod installation. Jesse coordinated with at least 4 other teams that were working on other projects all at the same time. In some cases he helped pull permits for them and combined work to get something done. We really appreciated his flexibility and attitude on this. Every time something came up he approached it positively with a can-do attitude. Our new yard looks gorgeous and we are extremely happy with it. I also feel like they were honest with their pricing. Every time there was a change or amendment they updated our pricing proposal, even if we removed work or material during install. We finally ended up on revision #9 and I feel everything was competitively priced. I have recommended Beds and Borders to a few friends, they are the best landscape company I have interacted with and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again on anything else. Thank you!!

We were absolutely delighted with the work done by Andy and Jesse and their team! They re-did our entire back yard and were the ultimate professionals and completed the work on time and responded to all of our questions thoughtfully and promptly -- we liked them so much we're asking them to do a 2nd project this spring.

Good at communicating with the customer regarding time line of project, specific care of plants and warnings of potential critter attacks and how to prepare for them. Listened to customer’s preference for use of interesting plant materials, not overused items. Even the contractors that they used were good.

Beds and Borders have helped me with projects dating back to 2009. Andy and his team are extremely professional and dependable. Their follow-up to questions and concerns is unprecedented. This summer B and B removed all my old arborvitae in front of my house and planted various new plants and flowers and tore out my old sidewalk and replaced it with a gorgeous hardscape. With a new coat of paint on the house, this house is the "talk of the neighborhood."

While we still have to see what it all looks like come Spring as we were finishing during snow, so far the project looks great. Very receptive to our requests and questions. Working site team was respectful of us as well as each other. Could hear laughing and saw smiles from the team - which made it seem like they truly enjoyed what they were doing. Amazing clean up at the end of each day as well. Would definitely recommend.

Andy and B&B’s work is the best combination of amazing creativity and impeccable execution. I first worked with them 15 years ago on a backyard project with beds, berms, retaining wall, steps and a gnarly water/drainage problem. That water problem has stayed solved (I had tried 2 contractors before B&B) and when he came back last year for a small expansion bed I was blown away by the design to incorporate a bird bath and route house water drains to dry creek bed to irrigate my birch tree.

When we bought our house, we knew the backyard needed work. It was overgrown with buckthorn and the space was so limited that we couldn't enjoy it at all. Beds and Borders provided us with a beautiful vision of a yard that we can enjoy all year long, even through the Minnesota winters. In a short time, they transformed our backyard from a buggy, overgrown mess to an oasis. They were professional, on time every day, cleaned up at the end of every day and were so great to work with. Even after the project was complete, Andy checked in with us to give us guidance with our new landscaping. We are eternally grateful for our extended living space!

We had Beds & Borders design & plant our backyard a few years ago & have loved it! We get so many birds in our yard & it makes us feel like we are up north. Beds and Borders have done two projects at two different homes in the past several years. Most recently August, 2019. Great job, wonderful design for the patio, patio wall and plantings. The work crew and project manager were professional, timely and easy to approach with any concerns I had. The design process was fun ------the end product beautiful!

Beds & Borders did a complete landscaping make over of our entire yard. From the creative design plan to the finished product, everything exceeded our expectations, We had both practical and aesthetic features that needed addressing, and all all were completed to exacting specifications. A complete drain tile installation addressed our water remediation needs. And the installation of a wheelchair/walkway path from the front driveway down the slope into the backyard allowed my husband access to the backyard for the first time since 2009. Jesse did his wheelchair accessibility homework and installed the path according to accessibility protocol for grade and slope. We requested some unique specimen plantings as well as architectural focus throughout the design, in addition to rabbit & deer resistant shrubs and plants whenever possible - and all this with low maintenance in mind. These goals could not have turned out better - right down to the new sod. The crew was courteous, professional, and helpful at explaining the process to us as the project proceeded. They were also very willing to transplant a few salvaged specimens - even to an area not being redesigned. The crew cleaned up daily prior to the close of the day, and there was very little dust and debris left behind. This is commendable considering the amount of rain to be dealt with throughout the duration of the installation. Andy also worked with other professionals for the finishing touches: a new irrigation system, landscape lightening, and suggesting the craftsman who refinished our existing pergola and teak love seat and chairs. The finished look is all that was hoped for and much more - we could not be happier! I would recommend Bed & Borders to anyone wishing to do a landscaping project that is creative, has exceptional beauty, and offers optimal functionality. Kudos to all of you!

I contacted Andy late last spring for a comprehensive plan to be executed over the next 3 years.. The major problem area had been full deep shade and was now sun /part shade. Andy and Jesse came up with a beautiful design, were very responsive to the changes I wanted, encouraged me and affirmed me in my choices. We set a Sept date at my convenience that worked with their schedule. Andy responded immediately to any questions and concerns over the summer. They confirmed the week before, showed up when they said they would, and did a wonderful job. The two days they were at my house Chris was in charge, and Desmond and Eathan were his helpers. All were d=cheerful, courteous, pleasant to be around and very hard workers. I am looking forward to the next section next spring. I would love to show it off

Had a perfect experience with the B&B team. Having the business owners onsite and supervising is ideal. The plant design was just what we needed and a couple of suggestions for plants we hadn't heard of was very welcome. We also had hardscape in the form of several large boulders that were installed just right - the positions related hand in glove with the boulders we already had in place. All the plantings were placed in the ground just right at good intervals.

Andy and his team just completed a large project in our backyard. They were extremely professional in every way. Their team showed up every day at 7 am and had a work ethic that exceeded any other company that we have worked with in the past. Jesse listened to our needs and created a design that not only met our needs but exceeded our expectations. It was an extensive project including removing existing trees, installing drain tile and irrigation system, landscape installation of trees and shrubs and a fence. We couldn't be happier with the results! Our backyard reminds us of gardens we've seen in London! The best component of this company, is that either Andy and/or Jesse were at our house every day at 6:30 or 7 to oversee the design. The project was also finished ahead of schedule!

We were very pleased with the services provided by Bed and Borders Landscape Design. The team transformed our rustic backyard into a peaceful sanctuary with the feel of Lake Superior feel. Bed and Borders presented designs to us. We selected a design including pine trees separating our yard from the yards of our neighbors. Within our backyard we have a wonderful fire pit surrounded by rocks from Lake Superior and woodland plants. The team worked well with us as we continued to change the timing of installation and additional work in other areas of our yard. We enjoyed many evenings in our backyard and I would definitely recommend Bed and Borders for any work.

We used Andy's company to design and complete our backyard project in the summer of 2016. Andy was a joy to work with from beginning to end and he has a partner and long term group of staff that helped handle the execution of the project beautifully. This project included rerouting our existing sprinkler system, installing pavers, gravel, trees, shrubs, ground cover plants and new sod. We wanted a low maintenance design and they delivered. The best part they show up with entire crew/equipment and work the project from beginning to end in the time period discussed. Our project took two days from beginning to end and Andy followed up multiple times to ensure we were happy with every detail. We would highly recommend his company and staff for any project you are considering.

Did a great job of cleaning out what needed to be gotten rid of. Crew was always on time and worked very hard while here. The design and new materials looked great when completed. The project was completed close to the end of fall, so to be honest, waiting for spring to come and see how all of the vegetation survived. But, Andy and his crew worked hard, so I am not worried about how things will work out.

The Beds and Borders team's intellect and execution are superior quality based on my experience with many others companies and individuals in the business. I hired them to design and install garden beds/borders covering the perimeter of my front and back yards, and re-sod the back. Andy has a broadly talented and beautiful design sensibility which is very hard to find. He's familiar with a huge range of styles and can work with anything from a traditional aesthetic to an experimental approach. Some people call me too detail oriented and that's okay. But what you need to understand is that in picking someone to work with that played a big part. Great designs and great workmanship! We LOVE our new Beds and Borders landscaping! We just had our work done last week and could not be happier with the whole process - and most importantly - the final product! We found Beds and Borders on Houzz and so happy we did. We got 3 quotes for the job. One was very high and Beds and Borders was very close to the other one. We really liked the design that Beds and Borders gave us, so we worked together to figure out how to keep the design, but inch it down into our budget. We signed our contract in early May, the height of landscaping season and were able to get on the calendar for the end of June. The crew showed up on the predicted date and they were done in just 2 days! Everyone we dealt with at Beds and Borders was so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They checked in at every step to make sure we were happy with the progress. We can't recommend them highly enough!

Beds and Borders did a large landscaping project in my backyard. It consisted of designing and constructing a new patio space with the addition of large raised garden beds, new steps going up to the patio in twp different areas, The other area that was designed was a fire pit area. The landscape team came up with a clever design using existing large boulders as seating surrounding a sunken fire pit encircled by small river stones and pea gravel. Before the project, I was stumped as to what to do with my existing space that needed a makeover. Andy Freeland, President of Beds and Borders came up with a very creative and cost effective renovation. The project went smoothly. The crew are courteous and professional. After three summers, we could not be happier with our backyard and receive many compliments from visitors. Andy and Mike are fantastic to work with and were attentive to my concerns and questions. We worked out a program for local ecology foliage, water-conserving inclines and placements, naturally-beautifying and highly-functional evergreen shrubbery fencing, and attractive plants to compliment our accessibility-designed walkways. The wonderful firm worked diligently and tirelessly to expand our driveway and to embellish our all-seasons flowers, grasses and fruit trees with local limestone blocks precisely chosen to compliment a bouquet of rich floral colors and the house itself. The kaleidoscope of eye-catching delight emanates from both natural foliage and lawn carpet segments as well as colors meticulously selected for our home's cedar shingles, painted siding and finishes from top to bottom. We are now treated with hummingbirds feasting on our echinacea bulbs (even as we harvest them as an organic source for teas), bees, butterflies and other insects enjoying the pastel pollens of our apple and floral blossoms, and some sneaky pedestrians poaching our delicious fruit. The trees and grasses yet allow ample natural light to serve as passive solar sources for heat and amplification of internal home decor. All of these features were the direct product of long and caring conversations with the profoundly insightful Beds & Borders team about our several priorities: * natural resource preservation, * multidimensional planning, * low-maintenance and * lesser fertilization/pesticide usage around the property. We were able to implement thoughtful designs for maximizing rainfall as a natural source of plant watering, walkway beautification, transplantation and preservation of existing foliage in order to reuse plants already in place and avoid additional expense and the waste of valued ecological life. These serve to minimize the appearance of wheel chair ramps as incongruous appendages awkwardly adapted to the preexisting physical plant of the house and its external ambiance. Pedestrian traffic toward popular parkways and commons was taken into account also: we have great visibility of walkways, protections from accompanying pets inclined to poop on our property, and it is not unusual to find passersby marveling at Beds & Borders' fantastic designs and maintenance. Andy and his team designed and executed a make-over for our front yard a few years back. They were awesome. Everything was completed on time and on budget. We will look to them for any other landscape needs we may have in the future.

We have had two landscaping jobs done for us by Beds and Borders. We are very pleased with the results. The first job was new landscaping to the entire front of our house. it required removal of landscaping rock and large bushes. Andy designed a plan that we are very pleased with, using hostas that I had and purchasing new bushes and accent rocks. He handpicked the rocks and they are beautiful. I happened to be out of town while the work was being done and was very pleased when I returned to see the results. The second project was to create a raised patio in our backyard. This was a very big job as it required extensive fill and is entirely made of landscape rock. It was one of his first hardscape jobs and had it challenges. Andy made sure that we were satisfied with the results. Andy Freeland is very professional, creative, and has extensive knowledge about plants, materials and construction. I have recommended him in the past and wouldn't hesitate to do so again..

Andy & Mike did a fantastic job. From helping with the drawings to the execution. Two winters later we still see no issues in the work... we use the grill, firepit, and hot tub all the time. The site was clean at the end of every day, the workers were friendly, and they finished on time. We did go a bit above budget, but that is because we added more (stone stairs up the side of the house). I would highly recommend them.

Very satisfied with Andy and the landscape project they completed, which involved replacing a concrete patio with natural stone and landscaping the front of our house. Andy met with us and corresponded with us during the planning and implementation of the project. We found him to be very easy to work with, very knowledgeable about plants/shrubs/trees, and able to produce a beautiful improvement to our home. The spring after the project was done, Andy contacted us to see if any of the plantings had not made it through their first winter. A couple of them had not, and he replaced them. This was an unexpected bonus that we really appreciated. I have had an occasional question about care for some of the plantings, and e-mailed Andy. Andy Freeland won the landscaping job at our home in Eden Prairie because of his creative design, horticultural knowledge, awareness of plant height, color schemes, and introduction of new boulders. The new gardens extend 25 feet outward in front of our home and wrap around both sides. His team also transplanted existing plants into new gardens around trees and the mail box. The overall impression is striking throughout the spring, summer, and fall. The plants provide enough structure to help with our Christmas decorating. I recently downsized to a smaller house and an even smaller yard that had previously been used as a dog run. Beds and borders transformed the small space into a beautiful and tranquil urban courtyard. They installed a stone patio and a small green space that gives me year round color and texture. I had been a gardener and Andy incorporated my vision and introduced me as well to new plantings that are beautiful - plants, shrubs and small trees. Andy is not only creative but great to work with. We have used Beds and Borders for 2 different projects around our house. We are extremely happy with the completely updated landscaping around 2 1/2 sides of our house. They took the dated, tired and overgrown look that was created in the mid-80s and made everything fresh and new again. The project included hardscaping with stone borders around the landscaping and stone tiles to clean up the hot tub area. It also provided shrubs/bushes/plants that are appropriate and thriving on the North/street side of our house. We especially love the pops of color from the perennials we have on the west side throughout the summer. Project number 2 was the creation of a raised vegetable garden. The hardscape/stone employees were very exacting and methodical in the placement of every stone. The garden was very productive last summer and the deer were especially well fed! Andy is great to work with, the budget was right on and he is a wealth of knowledge and good ideas. He provided options and advice which actually saved us money. The whole team is great and projects were completed in a very timely fashion.

Andy Freeland did a great job reworking our front yard. He built a low retaining wall with steps, installed a brick paver walk, took out some weedy brush and helped us select just the right wind breaking evergreens.

I first met with Andy Freeman from Beds & Borders in the summer of 2012 and he was very helpful in designing and quoting a backyard landscape design including stonescaping, while working within our budget. (We landscaped along a 80' back fence, added a small retaining wall and a loose stone walkway with large paver stones for walking.) I had a lot of ideas and Andy was great about listening to me, working in my ideas and suggesting where to make tweaks and improvements. Then - our A/C went out and we had to put the project on hold. (Andy was very gracious about this part.) I called him next Spring and we got on his schedule! The work was completed really well, on time and his crew was very respectful and thorough. We've had a lot of work done on our house over the years and Andy & his crew have been the best team to work with so far.

I hired Beds & Borders for a two year project to fully transform my yard, all new plants, trees and grass, significant retaining wall work, and a new front stoop and paver walkway. We have had multiple trees planted, berms installed, raised gardens created, edging, mulch, etc. Everything has been created in an artistic and ecological way that has made my wife and I very happy.
