Based in Boston, our reach extends globally, with projects spanning Mexico, Haiti, and Somalia, reflecting our dedication to impactful design on a global scale. Our services include master planning, historic design restoration, site–specific planting, ecological sustainability, permitting, project management and general contracting for landscape construction for residential, corporate and institutional clients. BP design is led by Bertha Pantoja. Pantoja is a MA-registered landscape architect with design expertise gained over 20 years of project-based and teaching experience in Greater Boston and Mexico. Most of her work is residential, but she is committed to working with underserved communities and nonprofit organizations. Pantoja holds a Master Degree in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design from Harvard University’s School of Design and a Bachelors in Architecture from UNAM, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico.

Berta did a fabulous job. She provided creative, professional, reliable service from start to finish. We had a small, relatively bare yard that we wanted to landscape. Berta consulted with us and developed a lovely design. When spring came, she bought all the plants and coordinated with her landscaping and irrigation team to have everything installed in just a few days. We were able to provide input and raise questions all along the way, but she took full responsibility for the execution of the project. We are thrilled with the result. The plants look great and have flourished all summer. (photo was taken right after installation - grass is now very full.) Our neighbor was so impressed that he hired Berta to do his yard. I was able to watch her do that project and I was equally impressed! His yard is now gorgeous, too. Berta is the best!

We are thrilled with the projects we have done with Bertha - ranging from an elegant driveway design, to a total replanting of a hillside behind our house. I recommend Bertha highly to anyone seeking to enhance their outdoor space.

We worked with Bertha during summer 2016 to completely overhaul what was a neglected dust patch of a back yard. Our ideas as to how the final product should look were not very well formed, other than that we wanted lawn, patio space, plantings, a new back porch, and a contemporary look. Bertha patiently heard us out over multiple visits and ultimately came up with three very detailed, and very different architectural plans for us to consider. We honestly really liked them all and would never have conceived of such original ideas ourselves. After much debate we settled on one and worked with Bertha on minor refinements. My wife and I found her enjoyable to work with and we appreciated her detailed advice on plantings - which we needed. She also sourced all of these for us. The one tough part of the project was dealing with the contractor Bertha recommended. We did however choose the cheapest of three options she provided (we could alternativly have found someone ourselves), and were warned of the potential hazards. Bertha also bore much of the brunt of the dealing with him - so perhaps he is off her list now! On the other hand, the carpenter Bertha recommended for our back porch was fantastic. While the overall job cost more than Bertha's initial estimates, we did feel her fee was very reasonable considering all the work she did and would happily recommend her.

Bertha did a great job for our condo driveway/sidewalk/garden running from the street to our house approximately 90 feet,She was very organized, had a number of good options for us, and worked to get us all to agree on next steps. She worked hard to find cost savings when possible. She answered our questions in a timely manner. She was able to complete the project on time and within budget.

We originally hired Bertha to help design a driveway and adjacent retaining walls. We were so impressed with her work on the driveway, we then hired her to design two gardens in the front yard, a patio in back, a terraced garden on the side yard, and stairways/walkways connecting them all. Bertha has a keen eye for sight lines and angles, and for blending aesthetics and function. She matched her designs to our tastes and the style of the home (contemporary). Her design transformed our property from a house with unkempt, unconnected yards to an indoor/outdoor space that blends together.

We chose bp design to landscape our side and back yards after a house renovation. We have been very happy with results of the design which included a large amount of hardscape work (patio, steps, walkways), as well as many plants. Ms. Pantoja, head architect, worked with us closely to develop the plans, taking into consideration our wants, desires, and budget. She accompanied us to pick out the plants, and she was onsite for much of the hardscape work. We would recommend bp design highly.
