Bailey General Contracting did a seismic upgrade for our house. I was told the job would take three months. It took just under that. Matt always returned phone calls quickly and answered any questions I had. The crew was absolutely great. They were onetime, clean, and approached the job with utmost professionalism. They were very considerate of our time and the occasional need for a quiet hour when our granddaughter needed a nap. Matt and his crew spotted a few things that weren't in the original bid and suggested ways to improve the house, adding insulation while the garage ceiling was open, for example. Over all I was very satisfied with the Matt, the crew, and the outcome.

We hired Bailey General to do major foundation and back yard expansion which took about 6 months. They proved to be exceptional. The crew was always professional, courteous and very hard working. Their attention to details were astonishing. They took a lot of pride in doing their jobs and the results proved that they were excellent skilled craftsmen. Before actual work even began, the team came in with plastic sheeting and plywood sheets. They made sure to cover all areas that needed protecting from any construction dust or damage. Also plywood was used to secure the job site at the end of each day and because of that, we never had any break ins or theft issues. Always punctual at the start of the day and exceptionally tidy in their end of day clean up. It was interesting that they always took all their personal garbage with them when they left everyday. Hence, we never had to experience any rodent or animal problems. Also, they made sure to clean up the job site and street everyday too. Our neighbors even noticed and appreciated it as well. All their work passed inspections without any difficulty. We never experienced any problems. We are exceedingly happy with the outcome and would definitely not hesitate to hire the Bailey General team again. Highly recommended.

Project Description Demolition, excavation, reconfiguration of front facade including lighting, stonework, new entrance (gate and door), garage, and garbage can enclosure. Project Result The house looks wonderful! It is a huge aesthetic improvement, along with addressing a lot of functional requirements. It gives the house much more street presence and blends traditional details (covered porch with the twin columns) with modern touches (cedar siding installed to create texture and shadow) and a Zen sensibility. I love it. Matt Bailey is professional in all aspects of construction from craftsmanship to project management. He listens, clarifies, and recommends improvements to specifications. His team is master craftsmen with an eye for detail and design. The BGC team were responsive to my concerns making adjustments as the project moved forward. They were a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend BGC.

Construction work on your home is stressful…choosing the right contractor makes the process so much easier. A neighbor referred me to Matt Bailey, Bailey General Contracting…she was very happy with the kitchen remodel his company handled. I had 3 projects that Matt and his team took on for me. Most important was the discovery that water damage from an old leak had eaten through the siding on my “sunroom”. When the siding was opened up we discovered the damage was quite extensive. All the siding, and interior walls / ceiling had to be removed and replaced. Also the support beam and a good amount of wood framing around the windows. Matt was on-site daily to check on the progress and to answer my questions. His friendly professionalism helped alleviate my stress. His team of Marco, Wilson and Carlos were fantastic! Respectful of my home and always patient with my worries…Marco always did an excellent job of answering my questions. They arrived on time every morning and cleaned up their work area every day before leaving. I have included some before photos of the damage they uncovered and a photo of the finished product. The “easier” job was replacing the side walkway with a new one that angles away from the house ever so slightly so that water drains to the flower beds. We will have rain again someday! The Terrazzo front stairs were too damaged to save…without the cost being more than my desired budget. Matt brought in a wonderful mason and we now have beautiful new brick stairs! My home is almost 100 years old…so once the Terrazzo was removed we discovered old termite damage and dry rot from water damage. Bailey General Contracting reframed the stairs in preparation for the new brick stairs. I highly recommend Matt Bailey and Bailey General Contracting! Integrity and a strong work ethic along with fine professionalism is what you will find with Matt and his team. (next up is to paint the house…the beautiful red brick stairs will not be painted. All the other bricks will)

We loved working with Bailey General Contracting. They are experts at what they do and exceptionally thorough. We had an urgent situation that they addressed efficiently and professionally. They were very communicative throughout the process so we knew exactly what was going on. Instead of assuming that everything had to be replaced, they tried to preserve and save what could be salvaged, which helped with cost and not generating unnecessary landfill. We look forward to asking for Bailey General Contracting to help us with our home in the future!

If you want quality and attention to detail, and if you want it done right the first time without re-do, and if you want a clean jobsite at the end of the day, and if you want a team that can navigate the San Francisco Dept of Building Inspection, then please consider Bailey General they did all that with a smile I had the dubious pleasure of have a mandatory soft story seismic retrofit done on two sites. Bailey was not the lowest bidder, but he was competitive. I wanted to ding him 1/2 star for having a billing and change order format printing everything in landscape mode; and for being expensive. But, you get what you pay for which is quality work done. Finish work and electrical/ plumbing work was subcontracted out and excluded from my base bid. This was a big unknown for the general contractor and me. YMMV on how you want to budget. On the other hand, his assigned crew was dedicated staff who stuck to it until the end with good work attitudes. No endless shuffle of different workers showing up. At the end of the day, despite covid-19, the earthquake retrofit project was signed off by the City as done without penalty. Hats off to Matt Bailey and his team. If I ever (and I hope i never have to) have to do another earthquake retrofit project, Bailey will be on my list.

Bailey General Contracting was responsible for carrying out the city-mandated seismic-upgrade on our building, a century old, three story wooden structure. Following a set of city-approved engineering plans drawn up by an independent engineering firm, BGC did an excellent, high-quality, and cost efficient job throughout the four month project. Matt Bailey, CEO, was always available to field questions on the work ahead and to provide weekly, on-site updates and reviews of the project. Budget monitoring was provided throughout the project and change-order, pre-approval procedures were always followed. When presented with the quirky problems one inevitably finds in older buildings, Matt was able to find effective, imaginative solutions. The BGC crew did an excellent job, arriving early every morning, ready to work, always respectful of residents’ needs and ready to accommodate any special requests if possible. The foremen, Juan and Amando, were very knowledgeable and able and willing to offer on-demand updates and explanations of the on-going work. On the communications front, Mariela in the front office was always available to handle any and all administrative matters from answering billing questions, scheduling meetings, and third party matters. Finally, should the need for similar work arise in the future, we would not hesitate to hire BGC again.
