Burke Brothers Landscape Design/Build

Burke Brothers was amazing to work with. From concept to execution the service was A+ and they really listened to what our wants and needs were. The entire team was friendly and professional. Our back patio is absolutely beautiful and we could not be happier with the final product. Our family has already made so many memories in the new space and I would 100% recommend Burke Brothers to anyone!

Did an extensive lighting job. While the job did take some time to get started, totally understandable given everything going on. Lighting is wonderful, from materials, to installation, to overall design.

Don’t even attempt to work with this business. I signed a contract with them, put thousands of dollars down as a deposit, they made me wait for months to start work, which I did patiently, and when we were days away from starting work they tried to say cost of materials increased the value of the 5 figure job by 45%. I tried to be flexible, offered to subsidize the added cost if they could increase labor on the job, offered to consider other more cost effective materials, they came back with no options other than to return my deposit. I could have had this work done months ago at a cheaper rate and now they’ve screwed me with no remorse. One of the most dishonest and unethical transactions I’ve ever experienced. While their excuse will play on Covid related market forces unfortunately I’m the one that has to take the fall for this, rather that Burke Brothers working to find a compassionate path forward. Pathetic.

Chris DeVito answered a call to transform a mid-mod house in the middle of the woods with serious drainage issues that looked like something out of Jurassic Park, and I couldn’t be happier with the design and end result. The team of people that came and spent the summer in my yard were polite, hard working, knowledgable, and professional. They have true craftsmen working for them. They built terraced stone gardens/walls, hung new out door lighting, built stone retaining walls, French drains, swales, and a rain garden. Built a parking pad, installed new decking and deck railing, built new walkways, AND they put in new landscaping that will look amazing in the spring and summer to come. My house and grounds look like a spa. It’s a yard that will see use and enjoyment for years to come.

The torrential rains of last year turned our lovely backyard into a mud pit. We have a downward sloping back yard. The rain water starts rolling down from our two neighbors who are a little higher on the hill and by the time it hits our backyard, it is a lot of water at a strong velocity. Burke Brothers came in at the end of last year to install a French Drain with a small berm. The French Drain was lined with river rock. The water is disbursed across the river rock which slows it down enough to be captured in the drainage pipe. The berm retards any overflow and redirects it back into the river rock. The heavy rains hit again this spring but this time, they did no damage to our back yard which is now covered with grass. Burke Brothers did an excellent job. They also moved our existing plants and re-bed them after the work was complete. Their price was not the highest or the lowest out of the quotes we got but we felt it was the most comprehensive. I am so glad we went with them.

We hired Burke Brothers to redesign the front entry gardens and replace a crumbling sidewalk. I wanted an elegant walkway with space to display potted plants. The bluestone pavers are perfect, and the walkway design completely changed the look of the house. I love the feel of the stones underfoot and the pattern is almost meditative. Additional work included a large border planting plus landscape clean-up and mulch. We love the new walkway and get lots of compliments from visitors. Jon and the team at Burke Brothers were great to work with, and we plan on plan on adding a patio in the same material to the back of the house this fall.

Our original patio and landscaping was a disaster. Flagstone was collapsing and been put in poorly as part of an earlier renovation about 10 years ago. Burnt once, we were not going to rush into anything without getting several estimates and looking for quality workmanship. Chris had been recommended to us by a friend. After hearing our vision for what we wanted, he put together several plans that gave us all that at a price that was within our budget and that, if anything, were more creative and interesting than ours but taking our preferences into account and satisfying them. We chose from among them, and he guided us with the utmost professionalism and knowledge to making some choices which, now, in retrospect, we are completely delighted with. Despite an unpredictably late spring and generally poor weather, the work was done expertly by skilled (and friendly!) workers--craftsmen-- who utilized our existing flagstone and recut and carved it, to integrate with stone that was brought in. The masonry work is unbelievable. The work met deadlines and was within our budget. The landscaping --and the dramatic lighting--came after the patio was constructed, and now, completed, we really enjoy the aesthetic feeling we get and can really enjoy the outside. I totally recommend Burke Brothers. Our experience was one of quality, honesty and professionalism.

I hired Burke Brothers to replace a stone wall along my driveway that had been done by another company (+/- 8 years ago), but did not hold up. Burke Brothers had build a wall for us for a raised planter +/-25 years ago and it looks the same as when they installed it. Even though their estimate was higher than the other company, we should have hired them and we would have been done with it. They reused existing material and the wall fits in seamlessly. Their workmanship is great and I would recommend them for any landscaping project.

John and his group did a great job from start to finish. They listened to what we wanted and came back with great ideas along with a great finished product. Everyone involved was attentive and easy to work with.

Jon is extremely knowledgeable, highly professional and quite personable. He was able to take my somewhat disorganized "vision" and turn it into a beautiful organic plan that blended with the existing landscaping, enhanced it and gave it added vibrancy without straining my cost parameters. I recommend Jon without reservation.

Jon Troisi and his Team from Burke Brothers are fantastic. They restored parts of my woodland garden including a visual gap in my center circle that had been created with the loss of a 100 year old white oak tree. The Team found a gorgeous 24 foot Norway Spruce which was perfect for the location . The tree and the selection of shrubs used for the restoration of the woodland garden blended well with the established plantings.
