Cathy is just the expert everyone needs on their team when doing a big remodel. We felt a little stuck in our own design process, but as soon as Cathy came on board, she inspired us by sharing so many great ideas that transformed our space into something we never could have imagined. Her attention to detail was so appreciated. When working with complicated contractors, she helped us focus on the critical path items in need of immediate attention - sometimes catching little, but important details that if missed, would be reverberated through the entire project. Cathy is also incredibly responsive and was consistently able to provide efficient, important insight when needed.

We enjoyed working with Cathy. She is very professional, comes prepared and listens to your desires. We had some cushions recovered in our master bedroom and a bench seat in the kitchen. Her taste is excellent and she came with wonderful choices of samples of fabrics for us to choose from for our project. We will definitely call on her again.

My wife and I purchased a townhome where the previous owners hired Cathy as their designer. We loved everything about the townhome. When it came time for us to make some changes, we hired Cathy. She has an eye for beauty, and she is great to work with. We are now using Cathy to help us with another property in town. I wouldn't think of making any significant changes in decor without the help of Cathy.

Cathy Haslem of Duet Interior Design is a delight to work with. She's helped me with several jobs, most recently following a forced move after losing our home and much of the contents in a natural disaster. We needed an enormous amount of help to make what was salvageable from the old house fresh and workable in the new house, additional furnishings had to be found and made to complement existing things, while everything had to be done quickly. Given all that needed replacing, reupholstering, repainting, and more, the task was daunting both in cost and amount of work to be done. Cathy, handled it all with creativity, patience, design brilliance and good humor. It was a huge job given the circumstances -- emotionally charged following Montecito's debris flow disaster, and a move we didn't choose to make. I could not have tackled it without Cathy's ideas, design sense and understanding at a deeply personal level. I have a strong design style of my own. Cathy respected that and enhanced it by helping me consider possibilities I wouldn't have thought of myself. Color is important to me, as it is to Cathy. She wouldn't let me settle on just any color (or fabric, or anything else for that matter) to simply get the job done, but searched out different paint, carpet, window treatment or fabric samples until we got it right. Cathy always got jobs done when she said she would. She was on time, every time. She timed stages of the job carefully, as well. She was also on budget, providing me with a range of price options. If a fabric option, for instance, was particularly appealing to me but a little more than I wanted to spend, she'd suggest using it as an accent item. Her own billing/pricing is very reasonable -- she's honest about her time, and fair and generous with it. The most recent projects began in Spring of 2018, and were completed in October, 2019. Having done all that was needed to give us a home that looks and feels cohesive (an impressive accomplishment given the hodgepodge with which we started), that now feels as if we've lived here for ten years (when in fact it's only been a year-and-a-half), we are already talking about what is next. I look forward to continuing work with Cathy. She was a friend before we collaborated on two houses, and are even closer friends now, which in my opinion speaks to both her professionalism and pleasant nature. I cannot recommend her more highly.

I highly recommend Cathy from Duet Interior Design. Throughout the past year we worked with Cathy on several different projects in our house ranging from updating but needing to work with some existing furnishings to completely starting from scratch in other areas. Cathy was able to accomplish our goals of keeping key pieces while completely updating other areas and making the rooms blend seamlessly together. In addition, Cathy managed a complete remodel of our outdoor patio/entertainment area. She provided options for all appliances, countertops, backsplash, cabinets, tiles, outdoor fabrics and oversaw the completion of the project in a timely manner. Cathy's knowledge, professionalism & flair exceeded every expectation! Our first contact occurred when I was in Philadelphia and relocating to my newly constructed townhouse on the Lower Riviera in Santa Barbara. From managing the painter and window treatment team, meeting with the landscape architect, to coordinating schedules with building contractors plus furnishing the entire townhouse on budget and on time, there was no stone left unturned! Cathy's business contacts do phenomenal work, also. Extremely impressed by the outcome of my Santa Barbara property, I hired Cathy to work her magic on my second home in Sedona, Arizona. We drove there together and upon arrival, she sketched the rooms' dimensions and went shopping locally, in Flagstaff and Phoenix. Cathy furnished the Sedona home, again, on budget, and for all intents and purposes, in one long weekend! Cathy has recently turned two rooms in a home on the mesa into a very chic yet cozy environment using existing furniture and new purchases. I am ecstatic with the final result she created while staying within budget. Words simply cannot express the magnificent design end product in each scenario presented to her, as well as the great dedication and commitment Cathy possesses for each client and assignment.

Cathy Haslem of Duet Interior Design is not only really good at what she does, she is also very pleasant and easy to work with. I contacted Cathy to help on a room addition when I realized that being laid up with a foot injury meant no chance to find paint, carpet, wallpaper, and all other design needs related to the job at hand. Cathy was already a friend, so I was a bit reluctant to hire a friend and neighbor, worried that something so personal and specific to my own taste might be too complicated and risky to a friendship. No worries needed at all. Cathy has great taste of her own and is enough of a professional that she is able to work with a client's needs, respecting their personal preferences. Because she sees the big picture -- how everything will work together in the end -- she steers her client away from an isolated view to the completed, cohesive look. Cathy helped me with all of the basics I needed to get the job done, and she was available for quick consultations after I thought I'd made up my mind on some selections but ended up needing those choices reaffirmed. In other words, she was good at holding my hand through moments of design-self-doubt. She was available for installations, for follow-up when needed, and always respected my schedule and my design style. Cathy outlined the scope of the project in thorough, understandable and reasonable detail, and stuck to the plan. And, when I asked her to help with something else indirectly related to the room addition (because remodels always bring up additional home improvement opportunities!), she got right on it. She helped me think of things I wouldn't have otherwise considered, and her expertise saved me money, time and frustration. What more could I have asked for? And, we're still friends -- perhaps even better friends. I would work with Cathy again without hesitation and can highly recommend her to others.
