Cynthia Bennett & Associates was the design/build firm we selected to remodel our home. We did a gut-rehab of the 2nd floor to create a Jack-and-Jill configuration for our kids’ bedrooms, to bring the laundry room upstairs, and to add an additional bathroom (creating a primary bedroom suite). On the first floor, we added onto the back of the house to create a new (substantially larger) kitchen. We were delighted with the work and the result. We’d recommend Cynthia Bennett & Associates (CBA) to anyone looking for a design/build firm. Our house is in a historic area, with strict approval rules by the local historic preservation board. During the design process, CBA was great about flagging (and finding creative workarounds) for issues that might trigger rejections or additional review time from the board. Making these smart design choices during the design phase streamlined our approval and permitting process. During the build phase, they were communicative and thorough. They documented every step of the process with photographs and paperwork. They handled discussions about fixes and changes fairly and promptly. They helped us find the finishing elements (tile, stone, fixtures, etc) that achieved the look we wanted while staying within our budget. It was a long project (nearly 11 months). In the wrong hands, it could have easily turned into a nightmare. But CBA was definitely the right choice. And now we are living in our dream home. Extremely happy with the renovation of my 100-year-old house in South Pasadena. The kitchen and bath were taken down to the studs and remodeled, new HVAC, all new electrical, floors buffed and painted inside and out. Glad I spent the time and money; the house looks great! Carolien and her team at Cynthia Bennett & Associates were reliable, took care of everything and kept me updated throughout. They listened to my requests and concerns, offered suggestions, and provided advise and options to assist with decision-making. The sub-contractors were excellent; they showed genuine interest in taking care of the house. Attention to detail, quality of work and materials can be seen throughout.

Outstanding in every respect! Their professionalism and work quality can't be beat. In fact, we became friends with our project manager, the contractors, design consultants, as well as many of the people working on our kitchen. It was nearly stress free because they handled every detail for us. We never dreaded coming home at the end of the work day, because we knew their work ethic was strong, and it would all look great and be handled perfectly. And they had no problem with change orders we requested, because our home, built in 1913, did hold a few surprises for all of us whenever a wall was opened! I hired Cynthia Bennett & Associates to add a master suite to my house. My house was a 950 SF 2-bed, 2-bath built in the 1920's. The house is built on a slope and had a walk-in basement with a utility room and storage area, CBA expanded the house to add an interior staircase and hallway to the basement. They transformed the utility room/storage area into a master suite with an adjacent utility area for the washer/dryer. We are very pleased with the outcome. CBA is very respectful of the historical appearance of the home and respected my desire to have no impact to the front appearance. CBA incorporated interior details present in the untouched original rooms, including a coved ceiling in the master bedroom and radius corners to the walls, as well as windows that matched the existing. CBA's project manager was professional and accommodating of the project goals and needs.

We at Gem International work with CBA for almost 7 years and on regular basis since. We specialize in marble and granite supply and this has truly been a pleasant experience to be able to work with CBA team. For natural stone selection they visit their clients at our facility where I can see their professional approach to the client's need. Choosing a right stone can be very complicated sometimes but with CBA team I could see how smooth this process can be.

We have hired Cynthia Bennett for numerous projects, including two kitchen remodels (different houses); five bathrooms; a den and a large library. Obviously, we've been pleased or we wouldn't keep returning. CBA has a very professional team and, critically, takes a project from planning to design and through construction. It is a "turnkey" company. They have always been creative, responsive and professional. Their management of the construction process is solid. The projects done by CBA were in two different old Pasadena homes between 2008 and 2012.

Just wanted to post a quick note about CBA, and about how wonderful they are! Iif you want a kitchen or bathroom done, everyone knows Cynthia is the one to turn to. Our craftsman in Altadena was in big need of a facelift and especially the kitchen was dilapitated. We gave Cynthia Bennett a call and were really impressed by the importance she placed on staying true to the aesthetic of our architecture and the history of our house. In the end she did our kitchen and two bathrooms - using an amazing variety of wonderful tiles, beautiful granite counters, and custom built cabinetry by the Spanish Galleon. Our house is now
