Charles Di Piazza Architecture

We met Charles Di Piazza when he worked with Chris Cobb, and they worked together to plan and design the complete renovation of our 60s ranch house. From the very beginning of the project each facet of life in a home was carefully attended to by both Charles and Chris. From asking us about how we bring in groceries or where we prefer to leave our trash bins to exploring the aesthetic influences of our favorite items, these professionals demonstrated that they are deeply committed to creating beautiful and striking structures that are inhabited by complicated families in comfort and functionality. For instance, when we were concerned about the natural light in different zones of our living areas, they built a model of our future home and took photographs of it throughout the day to capture the movement of light and shadow in the spaces they designed. Further, I have noticed that our input trumps their own ideas. They were both very quick to scrap an interesting idea when we offered a counter-idea or stated that it didn't seem to fit with our goals overall. In other words, Charles is incredibly creative, but not at all too proud or overbearing when it comes to the wealth of ideas he brings to a project. I found Charles to be specifically attuned to interpreting the ideas of a lay person into the form and function of a living work of art. It has been a pleasure working with Charles and to watch his work unfold.

We had the pleasure of working with Charles for our recent home renovation. We reworked our midcentury home to make better use of our space, bring in more natural light and maintain the original charm that the house offered. Charles helped us create a fresh space that is functional as well as gorgeous. He provided many terrific ideas and walked us through the entire process. Charles additionally was a wonderful listener and incorporated our specific needs and requests into our project beautifully. I would absolutely recommend Charles to anyone looking to update, renovate and beautify their home.

My husband and I have worked on three projects with Charles: one new house and two remodels, one of them extensive. We both like architecture for many reasons, and we wanted to keep that in mind as we went along. Charles seemed always aware of the principles of good architecture and the creative application of good design. He taught us a lot as we worked together. The houses were in a University of Texas neighborhood where many are rentals and are left to degrade by absentee and disinterested landlords. Our goal was to make them whole using quality materials and workmanship, but also to make them aesthetically interesting. We hoped to keep them affordable yet not attractive to investors. Our overall goal was to better the neighborhood and to celebrate good design and architecture. Charles was an excellent partner for us in this enterprise.

Charles is a great Architect. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to educate and provide a great service. He has been great to work with on several occasions now and I very much recommend him and his work.
