Charter Oak Landscape Development is a unique design-build firm operated by husband and wife team, Joel and Devon Brown. Each graduated from Cal Poly’s landscape architecture program with a special interest in creating livable green spaces that uphold the architectural quality of a space and honor a sustainable plant pallet. Who we are. DEVON BROWN Devon Brown took an interest in contemporary design styles and native plant pallets while attending Cal Poly’s landscape architecture program. After studying abroad in Italy she began incorporating Mediterranean design styles into her projects. When moving back to the valley these ideals were easily incorporated in drought-tolerant landscape designs. She enjoys creating beautiful landscapes that are a reflection of the architecture and interior design of her client’s homes. JOEL BROWN Joel Brown was born and raised in Tulare. He graduated from Cal Poly’s landscape architecture program in 2008 and soon returned to the valley to bring a passion and skillset that would be a positive impact on the place he called home. His attention to detail and craftsmanship has allowed his projects to be distinguished from any other. He emphasizes quality and design aesthetics on every job. Our Process. Each client is presented with a detailed bid. Once an estimate is accepted your project is put on the calendar for installation. Before installation begins we conduct a pre-construction walk-through. During the installation phase we are hands-on the entire process with continual site visits. If you choose to have our firm take control of the entire landscape remodel we will coordinate all aspects of the project, from concrete installation, to shade structure construction. We desire that every project flow seamlessly and efficiently.
