Coastal Windows & Exteriors has more than 20 years of experience in the home improvement industry. After seeing many homeowners have negative home improvement experiences, David Vanderbilt decided to create a business focused on excellent customer service and quality workmanship. He knew that a home improvement company that did everything the right way would stand out and earn respect as well as repeat and referral business. He also knew the perfect person to run the company – his wife. When David asked Stephanie if she wanted to run the business, Stephanie had a difficult decision to make. She had a rewarding career as a Teacher of the Deaf. Empathy has always come naturally to Stephanie and this value was at the core of her teaching career. She always went above and beyond. It wasn’t enough to simply help students communicate better. Stephanie also worked with her peers and teachers to understand what it is like to be deaf and how to best communicate with her students. This approach helped students to better accept and embrace their deaf identities. Stephanie eventually left teaching and Coastal Windows & Exteriors became her full-time ‘empathy outlet.’ Stephanie knew that simply satisfying Coastal Windows & Exteriors customers would not be enough. Instead, Coastal Windows & Exteriors created an experience that ‘wowed’ customers and had them raving to others.
