Creative Nook

We checked out several contracting/design services before we settled on Alex Hall and Creative Nook to do our kitchen renovation project. We had a rough vision of what we hoped to achieve by removing the wall that separated our original kitchen and dining room to create an enlarged open kitchen. Alex took that preliminary concept and came up with a beautiful detailed design that surpassed our expectations. Alex guided us step by step through the selection of cabinets, granite, quartz, fixtures, tile, lighting, even paint colors! He offered us a wide variety of options so that we could choose the ones that fit our wishes and our budget. Once the job started, Alex kept us informed of work schedule adjustments when the inevitable glitches and surprises arose. All of the workers Alex brought in for various aspects of the project were courteous and unobtrusive. They did everything imaginable to make the disruption of a major home renovation as bearable as it could be. Now that the job is done we are delighted with the outcome. We are very happy with our decision to work with Creative Nook and with the job Alex and his team did for us.

When we bought our home in Bryn Mawr, we bought it knowing we would be undertaking a major kitchen renovation. We spent almost 6 months researching kitchen designers and contractors. Alex came highly recommended to us by an acquaintance and as soon as we met him we had complete confidence in his ability and professionalism. One thing we really wanted was one person accountable for our entire job - from design, to sourcing cabinets, floors, tiles, countertops, appliances to build, to completion. Alex definitely ticked this box. Alex was also very experienced and absolutely unflappable - he took time to ask lots of questions and really listen before he put together his designs. His design was by far the best thought out for our space of everyone we talked to and that's because he listens. During the building process he used highly competent, skilled and professional workers for every aspect of the job and was on site often making checks and keeping things on track. He was also great at communicating with us on status and updated often, which is sometimes not the case with contractors. This was very much appreciated. As with any job, there is always the inevitable unexpected issue that arises. Alex was always very quick at escalating these issues, clear when explaining the situation and he was creative when thinking about solutions. He was always fair in assessing any additional costs. We have undertaken many projects since purchasing our home but this was by far the best experience we have had so far!

Rarely do I have the pleasure of making a recommendation for such an accomplished professional as Alex Hall. My husband, Mike and I, stopped into the Creative Nook after almost giving up on our kitchen remodeling. We gave Alex our budget and our list of what we each felt we must have in our new kitchen. Mr. Hall designed and completed our remodeling on budget and a couple of days earlier than anticipated. All members of Creative Nook staff were exceptional in their attention to detail. As problems arose, as they will working with the Borough of Malvern, Alex and his team problem solved effectively and cost effectively. I can not make enough good comments or give a higher recommendation to Alex. If I could, I would rate Creative Nook at 10!!! Even after the redesign was complete, we had an issue with an appliance an Alex even helped us to resolve that problem. Who does that??? After the final check is cashed!!!!! Mike and I truly enjoy are newly designed kitchen. We are the envy of our Condominium Community! Thank you to Creative Nook and their entire support staff. You are all knowledgeable, profession and punctual.

We have used Creative Nook twice for remodeling projects. The first time was a kitchen remodel in 1998 and the 2nd time was a larger project in the fall of 2016. This project included 2 bathroom updates, a master bedroom/bath/ closet and sewing room remodel, and major renovations to our living room and family room - which included removing part of a wall, new bookcases and removing a large 3 sided fireplace and replacing it with a new smaller gas fireplace. The project finished 2 weeks early and stayed within the projected cost.

Creative Nook's Alex is professional, thoughtful, respectful and super-organized when designing a project. He really listens to the client's wants and needs and takes great pains to make sure everything is absolutely perfectly done, I specifically hired this firm because I wanted a full service designer and contractor/builder. AS for me, I personally do not like to pore over thousands of choices or get into the fine details of remodeling - since that is Alex's expertise, and he does it well, I'm happy to leave it to him. However, if you like that sort of thing, his showroom has all the bells and whistles of tile, cabinetry, hardware and such stuff for you to see and feel the products. Alex and his colleagues will ensure the highest quality of craftsmanship no matter what project or materials you choose. In addition, he makes sure you know the timing/scheduling of each step so the project will be done with no surprises. I had hired him for a big kitchen re-do 6 years ago (and I still love it)...so I had no hesitation when I wanted to remodel my master bedroom's bathroom and walk-in closet.

Alex Hall, owner of Creative Nook and his sub-contractors did a fabulous job on our home renovation project!! The project was extensive: 10' x 37' extension of the first floor and basement at the rear of our home, rebuild of the kitchen and family room, renovation of laundry room, new mud room, and new patio. We LOVE our 'new home'!! Everyone that has seen it is in awe. Alex brings so much professionalism, experience and natural design ability to the table; he took our ideas and lots of pictures and created a design that was wonderfully functional. Then he and his assistant Nicole provided complete guidance in helping us choose our cabinets, flooring, tile, etc. which took a functional kitchen and transformed it into WOW. Alex only works with the best sub-contractors who have been working with him for years. All of the following contractors were terrific - meticulous, neat, hardworking and very trustworthy: the construction team (Glenn, Matt & crew), plumber and electrician (Les), cabinet installer (Barry), painter (Jim), patio installer (Sam King), floor, tile & granite installers too. He clearly communicated requirements with all of them and the work schedule with us. If I had any questions or concerns, Alex was quick to respond. And given the size of our project it was terrific that he and Nicole took care of the scheduling, which for a homeowner could easily turn into a logistical nightmare!

I couldn't give higher praise to Alex and Creative Nook, and would urge anyone who's not sure about using a designer that it is CRITICAL to use one and pick a good one. Our project was a kitchen addition, and Alex guided us around the layout, drawer types, sizes, material and color choices. He is able to quietly let you make your own decisions if you know what you want, but makes recommendations if you ask. He manages ALL the details, providing you with a calendar (that doesn't change), sending you a text message reminder if you need to make a decision or risk pushing back the calendar, and he deals with all scheduling and managing the people. He was the bright spot in a very complicated and challenging project, and I highly, highly recommend him to others. The other key (and unique) benefit to Alex is that his prices didn't change - and there were no unforseen extras. What he quoted was exactly what we paid. When we had a problem with one thing, he managed the process of replacing it quickly, calmly and without any charges.

We are huge fans of Creative Nook. Alex has a thorough planning process. The team was on time with commitments and the project was within budget. The process from design to completion was painless. We wish we would have found Creative Nook earlier, and would not hesitate to use them again!

In 2013, we worked with Alex Hall and his team at Creative Nook to double the size of our kitchen, move and renovate our downstairs bath, and rebuild a deck. Throughout the project, Alex and his team were consummate professionals. Alex listened to what we wanted, incorporated our ideas, and used his talent and creativity to design our dream kitchen. The process was painless from beginning to end--his crews were efficient, polite, easy to have around, and did marvelous work. At the beginning of the project, Alex gave us an estimated date of completion--his team finished at 11am that date. Almost 3 years later, I am still so happy with the kitchen that Alex created for us--it has become the center of our family life.

The Creative Nook team and contractors are top notch. During the job they protect floors and stairs, keep the job site clean, and use courteous contractors that provide the highest quality of workmanship. Alex is an excellent project manager and keeps to the schedule and the budget. Best of all, no surprises. We got what we paid for in our new master bath.

We can't say enough about our experience with Creative Nook. From beginning to end , Alex was on site to over see progress and address any concerns that we had. Before the project began, we received tremendous guidance from Alex about what our expectations were and how to realistically proceed making our dream kitchen a reality. The team of workers were there daily as planned and were very respectful of our space , were diligent in their clean up from day to day until the project was completed. We absolutely are thrilled with our experience and would certainly recommend Creative Nook to any of our friends.

In 2012 we did a major kitchen renovation with Creative Nook (gutted down to the studs and doubled the room size). I cannot say enough good things about our experience! To begin, Alex is an excellent designer. He understood everything we needed and really got to know the needs of our household before the process began. As for the renovation itself, I was pleasantly surprised how quickly and smoothly it was carried out. I am a stay-at-home mom with two young children and dogs, so we needed as little disruption as possible. On day one, Alex posted a timeline with projected completion dates for each task, and his team met EVERY SINGLE deadline. His contractors are talented, professional, neat and considerate. They are all very nice people and were a pleasure to have in our home. One thing I will say, it was not an inexpensive project. But this was based on the decisions my family made, and Alex made them very clear. He broke down our choices into good/better/best categories so we could make informed choices about pricing. But I can tell you that the quality and assurance of a smooth renovation are worth every cent. I recommend Alex and his team 100%.
