I am familiar with many of David's projects and have used his advice on some of my own projects as I consider development. His creative and tasteful approach to project scale and overall esthetics as well as a sincere concern to make the numbers work. He has a fantastic way of listening to both homeowner and subcontractors to make each project flow well and deliver the results the client is looking for. My name is Eric Smith, owner of Oceanside Builders, a builder of custom homes. David and I have had prior collaborations, and I was pleased to have another opportunity to join forces again. He brought me into this project to work with the clients as a design /build team.I have always been impressed with David 's ability to listen to his clients and quickly produce a detailed design to encompass their wants and needs in a creative way. The clients of this project wished to modernize a family cottage that had been enjoyed by many generations, yet retain some of the old charm. David's resulting design was an architecturally attractive cottage; melding portions of the old building with new additions. The resulting home is warm and inviting, with additional space welcoming for larger groups, and a modern edge to the exterior and interior that is very appealing. The project was challenged with time constraints. During the building process it was important to have access to David for design questions when needed. He was always available, and prompt with answers or needed solutions. As a builder, I prefer working with a competent architect who provides detailed plans that eliminate unanswered questions and errors during the building process. After working with David, I find his strengths to be his attention to plan details, communication with clients and his creativity and vision of the final product. David helped us redesign and renovate our coastal cabin. His knowledge of local regulations and his creative design helped us optimize the space. More importantly, he transformed our waterfront view into the key feature of our summer home. We would work with David again in a heartbeat.

David met me when we were purchasing a 1905 home that needed a complete gut. We were doing this project long distance from our winter home so the architect was key to the success of the project. He was a valued advisor on all aspects of the redesign and had a positive and upbeat attitude throughout the entire process, even though there were many changes and adjustments as we uncovered the house conditions. My husband and I have built or renovated 10 times and David was the most responsive and practical architect we have used. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone taking on a complex project.

David designed the new front porch to our house, and greatly improved the rather bland and dated original look. David is personable, respectful and easy to work with. And though we didn't build a new home, I've seen the houses that he has designed and really appreciate his emphasis on efficiency and aesthetics.

My wife and I met with David to discuss ideas for the remodel of our newly acquired home that was built in 1899/1900. It had been vacant for several years and was in dire need of updating. David listened to our input on our lifestyle and viewed the property. It was clear to us he understood our goal to update yet preserve the character of the home while adding an addition that blended in with the original structure. David drew up our plans and worked with us throughout the project, which entailed demolition, new 2 story addition to contain kitchen and master bedroom/bathroom , moving an attached structure, and all new plumbing, electrical, heating system and insulation. We highly recommend David Matero Architecture for any new or remodel project. Ours was a 12 month project and was a wonderful experience enhanced by the design and involvement of David.

Great to work with, attention to detail, he took our vague ideas and turned them into a great house we are excited to move into soon.

My wife and I hired Dave Matero in combination with Senecal Construction to design a house for us in Midcoast Maine. Dave worked with us to plan and design a project to an extent which allowed us to get approval from the land developer where we wished to purchase a lot. This development requires LEED for Homes certified projects and Dave is familiar with those requirements. He spent time with us in the field and in the office to gather information to inform his design and make sure it would fit with our needs and wants. We worked together to establish a budget and plan our project. We have purchased the land and are waiting for next spring to begin construction, carrying forward with Dave Matero and Matt Senecal as our design build team. We look forward to building a LEED Certified, Net Zero-ready house in 2013!

What talent. Dave solved an incredible problem requiring living space for an in law and maximization of open space that could be integrated into useful living areas I have worked with many architects and designers over the years and Dave sees and does thing very few people can. Dave is also a great person to work with and always completes projects in time and on budget. Highly recommend.
