Dee Carawan acted as our architect on a tricky and extensive remodel, in which we added about 25% to our home's square footage and completely rebuilt the front. She was responsive and flexible. Excellent work.

Dee Carawan is a very professional and thoughtful architect. Taking care to address our specific needs, she was able to walk us through the design process. Our kitchen remodel required moving a load bearing wall and a "flip" of the floor plan. We were very happy with what she designed.

Dee Carawan is one of my "go-to" architects for many of the remodeling projects I have worked on. Her classic designs lend themselves well to any style. She has great sensibilities and has a tremendous eye for design. She does exceptionally beautiful hand renderings. My clients are always very happy for her design work as well as her pleasing personality.

I bought a modest 1970s house on the ocean that was haphazardly situated without regard to the available ocean and mountain views. Working with Carawan Architecture, the house was transformed into an open plan home with spectacular views in all directions. Dee spent a lot of time understanding the view amenities and the opportunities for increasing window area and light. She paid close attention to my love of craftsman details and recommended materials and spaces that have a casual elegance; appropriate for my coastal lifestyle. I love it! Part of the reason for undertaking such a large remodel was that I wanted to create an attractive home to be offered on international home exchanges. I have now listed my home and happily received dozens of enquires. My first two exchanges will take place this summer. Carawan Architecture did a great job of listening and making suggestions that stretched my preliminary ideas into something much better. Overall, permitting and construction went smoothly; while I acted as project manager, it was only made possible by the excellent drawings provided by Dee and her ongoing support throughout the project.

I contacted Carawan Architecture to see if there was anyway to transform my tract house with a poor floorplan and a small kitchen into something more suitable for entertaining. Dee provided me with over 10 detailed options, from the simple, low budget not involving moving walls to the grander scheme of moving walls out in two directions. Her plan was so lovely, I had to go for the grander one, adding a foyer, dining room and enlarging my kitchen into a gourmet kitchen. I am so pleased I did. She integrated the existing structure into the new and people seeing my place for the first time don't believe it's an addition. She added details that transformed even the original rooms into something that felt customized - she curved entryways, making arches to give the place a cozy feel. She listened to what I liked and her design reflected my taste as well as her ideas. I still thrill at my wonderfully transformed house! Check out my before and after kitchen photos.
