Debbie Hammer Designs

We love our kitchen and we owe this to Debbie. The only thing we knew when we decided to renovate our kitchen, in a house built in 1908, was that we wanted a wall oven. Someone recommended Debbie and we didn’t look back. She came to the house had a good look round, took measurements and talked with us. She wanted to know how we lived, how we used our kitchen in relation to the rest of the house. A week or so later we were presented with six different possible designs. Then began a really exciting process as together we figured out what would work best for us. Debbie was also our liaison with our contractors. She was there at the meetings and nothing was too much trouble. She asked questions, a lot of questions, and opened us up to things we never would have thought of. She also has contact with many distributers so when t came to deciding on the counter tops and backsplash she was invaluable. We had visited show rooms but never really could come to a decision. We had a small sample of something we kind of liked but when she contacted the manufacturers we were able to see it in use..that was it. There are so many things that we are so thankful for, in terms of the cabinetry and also the many details that redoing a kitchen entails, because she would explain why something would or would not work, whether that be a fixture or a colour palate then she would have other suggestions and illustrations of what she was talking about. A woman with great taste and so fun to be around.

We worked with Debbie on two separate renovation projects in our 1905 house--a bathroom and the kitchen. She helped us to articulate what we wanted out of those spaces, presented us with great ideas, created functional and creative layouts, and connected us with contractors, tradespeople, and resources who helped bring the vision to life. She is a great designer with a keen eye for detail. Last but not least, she is a great communicator--easy to talk to, bounce ideas around with, and talk you through the inevitable challenges of home remodel projects.

Working with Debbie on our dream kitchen was an absolute delight. She guided us through the planning process with patience and precision, ensuring every detail was thoughtfully considered. Once the project began, she made sure our vision was clearly communicated and fully respected by the contractors. Debbie is not only a talented designer but also a genuinely wonderful person. My husband and I wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to her again for future projects.

If you’re considering an interior designer, let us tell you: Debbie is absolutely the wow factor you need for your renovation! When we embarked on a two-floor revamp of our home, we were overwhelmed with decisions and unsure of how to create something cohesive. Without Debbie’s expertise, we likely would’ve rushed into choices based on fleeting preferences. But having her involved from the very start—concept planning, through construction, and all the way to decorating—was nothing short of transformative. Debbie brought fresh, inspiring ideas to the table, teaching us how to think about layout, design themes, and the use of space in ways we had never considered before. Her guidance on the smallest details made all the difference in pulling every element together into a home that feels harmonious and intentional. For example, we initially fell in love with a flooring option, but Debbie showed us how its unique tones could work beautifully with specific paint colors and other design elements. It sounds simple, but her thoughtfulness in blending colors, materials, and textures brought a new depth to our design process—and a sense of cohesion we’ve never achieved on our own. One of the most surprising joys of working with Debbie was how she helped us reimagine our home’s structure. With just a few strategic modifications, she uncovered extra space we never dreamed possible. The result? A home that not only looks stunning but also feels more spacious and functional than ever before. We’re absolutely thrilled with how our home has been transformed, and we owe it all to Debbie. If you want a designer who listens, inspires, and brings your vision to life while elevating it in ways you couldn’t imagine, Debbie is the one to call. She’s simply exceptional!

Debbie was exceptional. She treats you like you are her most important client. She allows you to be true to yourself but guides you along the process. She made many wonderful recommendations that I would not have thought of myself and they ended up being the favourite part of our renovations/ design. She is personal, attentive and very professional. I would use Debbie again in a heartbeat.

Debbie is extremely professional and knowledgeable. She did such a good job of knowing what we would like, as well as what would be the most functional while still beautiful, for our busy household.

We recently completed a first floor renovation of a bungalow. Guided by Debbie’s knowledge and expertise, we redesigned the floor plan, moving walls and creating our dream home. We really didn’t know where to start and Debbie was amazing at walking us through the process. Debbie’s ability to listen to our ideas and translate them to the design was invaluable. Debbie communicated with us and the contractor throughout the project. It was a pleasure to work with Debbie . We highly recommend Debbie Hammer Designs, you won’t be disappointed. We were thrilled that Debbie was able to design our kitchen. Debbie is knowledgeable and has a variety of resources that reduce the stress and uncertainty of changing any room. When Debbie was creating a layout for our kitchen she provided many options. Her goal was to stay true to the style of our home. Debbie provided us the opportunity to make decisions that were best for our house, but always open to provide suggestions or another point of view if we were unsure on something. Our previous design was outdated, crowded, and not functional, it was a U-set up that was connected to our dining room. We did not want to make the space bigger by knocking down any walls. Debbie designed a layout that provided the space we wanted. She was also able to open up the room, which created a whole new environment for our kitchen and dining room. When questions or concerns arose Debbie was always available and able to address them quickly and effectively. When we were unsure about the colours, style, and so forth Debbie suggested sites, showrooms and other resources for us to explore. Throughout this whole process Debbie wanted us to be happy with the changes, and we certainly are! She was with us every step of the way, and if we renovate another room Debbie will be the first one we call!

Debbie was excellent to work with, and so knowledgable about design and functionality. She designed our kitchen, and actually our whole main floor. She often noticed things we didn't (for example, moving the entryway closet back a foot to create a better foyer space). While she knows design so well, she never told us we had bad ideas. She'd take any idea we had and describe how that might work, or if it would mean changing other aspects of designs. She is thorough, and turns work around quite efficiently. We also appreciated that she's worked lots with contractors, so continued to work with us by liaising with our contractor to come up with design solutions to a few problems that arose when the work began. Debbie helped us get a beautiful and functional kitchen.

Debbie played a crucial role in the success of our recent second floor renovation which included reconfiguration of the master bedroom to create a master suite, expansion of the ensuite, addition of a walk-in closet, creation of an adjacent study including a reading nook and new book shelfs, and a complete update of the main bathroom. Debbie presented us with very creative design ideas and came up with the perfect plan considering our ideas, requests and budget. She collaborated with our contractor from start to finish always being on top of the progress, pointing out areas of improvements and adjustments in a very professional and polite manner always keeping our interests in mind. Her advice and guidance with product selections, tile, floor, color and furniture choices were invaluable. We truly appreciated Debbie's willingness to listen and discuss all of our ideas, needs and concerns. Her suggestions and solutions were always well founded. She understood us right from the start and her ability to bring our visions to life are amazing. We were very nervous hiring a designer for this project since we did not have any previous experience and can honestly say that having Debbie by our side each step of the way was the foundation of the success of our renovation project. We can highly recommend Debbie Hammer Designs.

Debbie is an extremely talented and professional interior designer. When we decided to renovate our main floor, which included our living room and kitchen, we hired Debbie to help wth the design process. She came to our home to meet with us, listened to our wants and ideas. From that she created a stunning design. Her plans not only incorporated our ideas, but added additional design elements that we had never considered. Debbie created a set of plans and specifications that we were able to give to contractors to have the work quoted on and completed. She regularly met with the contractor and insured that every aspect of the design was completed properly. Because of Debbie we were able to complete the project on time and within our budget. We will be using Debbie for all of our future upgrades in our home. We would recommend Debbie Hammer Designs to complete an size project you may have. Steve & Laura

Debbie became my most trusted advisor throughout my renovation project. With a great eye for design, but also a thorough understanding of my needs, lifestyle and taste, she never led me in the wrong direction. Always respectful, she nonetheless is not afraid to make a suggestion design-wise that always is better than what I could have imagined myself. Her ability to deal with my contractor and other tradespeople involved in the project with professionalism, warmth and, when needed, a firm hand, meant that I could always be sure that we would have the desired outcome. I would hire Debbie for another project in a heartbeat, and have already recommended her to several others!
