Abby has successfully designed and overseen the construction of my beautiful new kitchen in the last year. Her background is in graphic design, and she worked for an architect early in her career, so her talents go beyond interior decoration. I requested to enlarge my kitchen by bumping out an exterior wall. She provided me with five different designs for the new kitchen and helped me coordinate the best of each of them. She helped me choose an architect and a contractor. Abby listened when I explained to her the look I wanted in the new kitchen and worked hard to incorporate all of my requests. Abby coached me through the coordination process and helped me pick cabinets, countertops, backsplash, floor, and window treatments. She had good resources for everything I needed. She communicated almost daily with the contractor to make sure the job was on schedule. She came to the job site many times to talk through any “in the field“ decisions. Abby communicates well by phone, email and text. She does not let a job languish. She keeps things moving. She is extremely creative. I learned I could totally trust her to get things right. And she won’t let you do something she thinks will be wrong! She is personable and easy to work with. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Abby for any project, large or small.

Abby worked with us to develop a master plan for a top to bottom renovation and expansion of our current home. Neither of us had experience with large renovation or design projects before and Abby patiently guided us through a series of conversations, decisions and design proposals. She even took the time to offer us other professional recommendations (architecture, cabinetry, general contracting, etc). The end result is a master plan that we absolutely love and cannot wait to see come to life.

I think what stands out most for me was Abby's ability to work with me. She was VERY patinet and flexible and had the ability to read my mind when she needed to. I hired Abbey to design an office space for me. I had approx 4000 sq feet to work with, and had to keep as many existing walls intact as possible to keep costs down. Abbey was able to encorporate all of our requirements in the design while giving the office an open, spacious feel. It turned out better than I could have imagined and we get many compliments on the look and feel of the space.

When we decided to renovate 2 bathrooms in our house, we hired Abby Jochnowitz of Design Ants based on her reputation and on the recommendation of several friends who had worked with her. She suggested changing the layout of both bathrooms to maximize space and create a more functional design. She was able to determine that there was wasted space behind an existing wall and opened this up to provide a linen closet in one bathroom and built-in shelving in the other. We ended up with more practical layout and more space in each bathroom! She came up with a plan that kept us within budget and fit our needs perfectly. She sourced all the products for us and was able to secure very favorable pricing. She was very easy to work with and was very attentive - working with us and the contractor as the project proceeded. She is highly creative and came up with innovative ideas that we would not have considered. We have an old Victorian house and she was very sensitive in making sure that the design, fixtures, paint, tiles, etc. fit with the era of the house. When friends see the finished bathrooms, the overwhelming comment is that they look like they were original to the house, yet have all the modern conveniences that we need. I highly recommend Design Ants. If we undertake another renovation project, I would not consider working with anyone other than Abby.

DesignAnt's Abby J.created a redesign for my disfunctional kitchen and laundry room that realy works for our very active family and pets. It is functional and beautiful. She respected our must have list, taste and reservations regarding some ideas. Her idea to relocate several doorways and a closet made enormous differences in our home's flow. I hate shopping but Abby was willing to drag me to lighting and fixture stores to find the right components for our kitchen. She made this part of the process fun. The project was much more complicated than the new bathroom creation she helped design 5 years ago, so I was really glad we hired her to do all of the design, drawing, sourcing and contractor relations work.
