We are a full-service interior design studio specializing in interior architectural design, high-end custom homes, turnkey residences, spec homes, remodels, and fine home furnishings. Founded by Donna Puzifera in 2004, D for Design is built on decades of residential design experience. Before establishing the studio, Donna spent nearly a decade in an established Corona del Mar residential design studio, gaining experience with luxury custom homes during the early years of Newport Coast and throughout coastal Orange County, as well as developing vendor and client relationships, purchasing, and project management. Since then, D for Design's work has included more than 25 new construction residences completed in collaboration with Nicholson Companies, along with other luxury remodels and turnkey installations throughout Coastal Orange County and beyond. I have known Donna for many years. What I have always found most remarkable about her is that she is not only willing but able to provide design services for the largest custom luxury home to the most modest cottage. She understands that super affluent clients will sometimes have tiny beach cottages that need love, too. And she adjusts budget and expectations accordingly. I call her "the Queen of Color" - literally. No one knows color and textiles better thanks she does. She blends fabrics, textures and color in utterly unexpected, startlingly fresh and beautiful ways, that no one could possibly imitate. That talent alone is worthy of her fee. I thank my lucky stars that I have her as a professional resource for myself when staging homes, and for my real estate clients when they purchase homes. She may never retire. I forbid it!

I talked to other Interior Designers in the process of selecting paint colors for my home. Donna was the only one who came to the process with the intent to listen vs. having recommendations. She took the time to get to know me and in the process was able to recommend colors that not only look wonderful on my walls, but put a smile on my face whenever I walk into a room. She also managed the painters for me, which made the whole process stress free!

D for Design is a wonderful company to do business with. Donna has a wonderful eye for detail and has the ability to understand her clients and achieve just the look they want. I have seen a lot of her projects and she can do anything ranging from fun and whimsical, to man-caves, to beach oriented projects, and finally to classy elegance. I have been working with Donna Puzifera and her team at D for Design on a two-year project in which she coordinated the design of our beachfront home from the ground up. She is incredibly creative--check out her projects and inspirations on Houzz or Pinterest! Donna is an amazing researcher that can problem solve any challenge, she has an outstanding eye for detail, she keeps thorough records of the work in progress, has an exhaustive resource list, and is respectful of client desires while always keeping the overall theme in primary focus. During the course of our project, Donna has been personally motivated to work both closely with my husband and myself, and also on her own. She takes great pride in her projects, making each one individualized and unique. Our home is truly spectacular due in large part to the work of D for Design.

My husband and I were looking for a home to buy in Corona Del Mar in January 2012. We came across a beautiful home that was perfection in our eyes except for the price point. The home was amazing and the design aspect was exactly what we wanted! I took the card of the designer who had pulled this home together so nicely, " D For Design." Little did we know that we would wind up building a home later that same year. We found a wonderful builder and an awesome lot right on Balboa Island. Initial questions were asked of us like cabinetry, paint colors, tile choices. We thought we had it all together to make all the decisions and then the questions asked of us were highly techinical and out of our comfort zone. We remembered the house designed by, "D For Design", in Corona del Mar and called them thinking they could answer these tough questions. Thankfully Donna Puzifera and her team could fit us into their schedule. Donna wrangled together our bathroom and kitchen tile choices and then coordinated them with cabinetry tops, trim work, flooring, and design aspects as well as working alongside the fabricators to get the look we were all happy with. Donna worked with us in pulling together a beautiful color palette for the interior of our home. Lighting was asked of her and she produced perfect choices. Nothing has been out of the question with her extent of knowledge in design, size and scale, color choices... We've asked for her input on custom powder room cabinetry, pendant lighting, dining room chandeliers, and living room furniture placement. We are always given many options to choose from and of course Donna will give her advice when we get off track. Donna and her team are easy to work with, they listen to their clients ideas, they work with their budgets, they offer multiple styles and textures, and then we all work together to pull together the look and feel of the home that is desired. Donna stays within the budget given her, she is dependable, prompt in meeting deadlines, as well as on time for meetings. She is so easy to work with. HIGHEST RATING POSSIBLE. Our home had to be gutted on the first floor due to a water main leak while on vacation. After interviewing several contractors and designers none of whom were up to the challenge or did not want to take it on, my sister referred me to D for Design as she had been both a friend of Donna's and used her many times over the years. Donna came in and found us a contractor and knew what and how to design from the studs on out, kitchen included. She worked with the contractor on an almost daily basis and took what was a nightmare into something workable and possible. She came with me on every appointment and provided invaluable advice in a professional manner. In trying to cut costs, she came with me to huge granite warehouses so I could buy direct. She was able to find what was right with the perfect eye for our budget and taste and seemingly stood at the entrance and went right to the perfect choice. She also went with me to the warehouse where out furniture was stored and which had been ruined in storage and negotiated a settlement. She was my constant companion for almost a year, working on an hourly rate due my budget constraints. I have also seen her high end design which is tailored to the client's taste, needs, and life style. When she has worked with high end design where there is no budget, the homes are beautiful and luxurious, both inside and out as she can also do landscape design and outdoor living spaces. And she worked with me where there was a tight budget choosing design and materials that came together in a way that looked as beautiful as if there had been no budget. I trust her taste and she works to find what the client needs and wants rather than imposing something unworkable that looks good but cannot be lived in. She has been featured in magazines and design centers have featured her room designs in their windows. This is a designer who understand what it takes to create a home from the studs to the last throw pillow to the bar-b-que pit outside! It has been a few years since I last worked with her and I think back to those days with fondness at our many laughs and her guidance and help through a thicket of challenges.
