My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

About Us

Donley H. Murray opened his doors in the spring of 1972, with a swift impact on the architectural landscape of Long Island. The work from his team quickly became recognized amongst their peers for their clean, efficient designs. In 2010, after working under Donley for over twelve years, the current team took over the company and renamed it DHMurray Architecture, in honor of their mentor. The new DHM team continued to execute high-end traditional homes and maintained a strong status amongst the existing client base. Under new ownership, their client base grew rapidly. It quickly became apparent that the demand had changed on Long Island and clients were looking for a wider range of styles and projects. Today, with a growing team of designers who have served as lead on projects in all areas of New York and Beyond, DHMurray Architecture continues to expand its range of expertise. The portfolio has grown to include several commercial projects which range anywhere from housing to restaurants to retail and DHM now serves a much broader range of clients, yet continues to provide the high level of service that it has since its inception.

We highly recommend DH Murray! We are in the process of completing our 2nd major house project with the team and they are an absolute pleasure to work with. They are knowledgeable, creative, personable and are always available to quickly answer questions and handle plan revisions. The team has consistently gone above and beyond to make sure we are satisfied with the end product. They have great industry contacts and referrals, and collaborate well with everyone involved (e.g. the village, contractor, landscape architect). Despite the space constraints with our home, they were able to deliver a design that provided us with everything we envisioned. We would be excited to work with DH Murray again on future projects!

I worked with the architects at DH Murray and had an absolutely unbelievable experience. They created a plan for my house that I could not believe was possible, and then the finished product was beyond my wildest expectations. I have an would continue to recommend them for anyone looking to build or remodel their homes. DH Murray are the BEST!!!!

DHMurray did a fantastic job on our renovation! They were a pleasure to deal with throughout the design process. John was great in helping us figure out exactly what we wanted to achieve. The results are phenomenal. The entire team was also extremely helpful and responsive during the entire construction phase. I would definitely use again and whole heartedly recommend.

The DH Murray team is talented, creative, responsive, fun to work with and flexible. They were the most upfront & straight foward of all the architects we met with, and I got the sense that they were interested in collaborating on the design vs handing us a set of finished plans, which was really important to us. We met with them one evening per week for 5-6 weeks during the design process, which we fondly remember as “Architect Tuesdays” Each week they made a lot of progress and presented us with different options, and entertained & worked through the craziest of ideas. They did a great job dealing with the Town of North Hempstead, and did an amazing turnaround on amendment we needed to get approved mid-project. Overall the end product was great, we love our house, and would recommend them to anyone.

The Dream Team! We hired DHMurray Architecture to design a new home, including interiors, on the North Shore of Long Island, NY. The DHMurray team includes both architects and interior designers to bring together a cohesive project inside and out. We were so impressed with their versatility and creativity and their ability to translate our family’s day-to-day living style and needs into the perfect home for us, a transitional design which blends shingle-style with a clean, airy interior. We appreciated their outstanding professionalism; true concern for our needs; down-to-earth, approachable interpersonal style; and dedication to creating an exquisite design. From the moment we hired them, they were there at every step making the entire process smooth and easy for us – from the initial, conceptual phase to getting the necessary building permits to assisting with choosing our builder. We very highly recommend them!

Can't say enough good things about John, Adam, JD and the team at DH Murrary. They were true partners in the design and building of our custom 5,000+ sq ft home in Sands Point, NY. Throughout the process their quick turnarounds and ability to accommodate alterations as we had new ideas helped us complete the project in record time. I highly recommend them.

DHMurray did the job and did it right. They were able to translate the architectural design ideas in our heads into awesome floor plans and stunning elevations on paper. This office of professionals held to scheduled dates and delivered each and every time. During construction they were responsive to the contractors inquires and provided the needed information in timely manner..

Commented: floorsThat floor is a custom blend. Our client went to Gold Coast Flooring, saw a pre-fab floor and had the installer match it. It has grey, black and brown in it, all duraseal. Hopefully that helps. Good L...
