About Us

Douglas Graneto is the principal of Douglas Graneto Design, a boutique design company founded in 2006 and based in Greenwich, CT. The firm specializes in both residential and commercial commissions, as well as custom created products and furnishings. Armed with a degree in Art History, Graneto began his career in 1994 working in a custom furniture atelier in South Florida that specialized in antiques, as well as the design and fabrication of Modern furniture along side vintage restoration. This beginning in highly individualized furniture design unknowingly began to characterize the style for which Graneto has become known-classically influenced modernism with flawless dedication to individuality. Graneto eventually relocated to New York in 1997 to work with Tony Ingrao, where he spent eight years custom creating interiors around the globe. Douglas continues to be recognized for his talent in creating a classic juxtaposition between vintage and modern. He is praised for finding a seamless match between a solid architectural backbone and its unique individually layered compliment. Whether designing for clients in Greenwich, CT, Manhattan, The Hamptons, the Caribbean, Palm Beach, Miami or Virginia, Douglas strives and achieves timeless, livable environments that always improve over time. Specialties include architectural design, interior design and furniture production. My family hired DGD when we decided to build a custom home. DGD played a critical role from the initial design phase all the way through selecting furnishings and draperies. Building a single home is tremendously overwhelming and taxing no matter what your resources might be. The team at DGD made the experience as painless as possible and greatly added to the beauty of our new home! Thank you all for a fabulous experience!

Douglas Grenato Design was an absolute pleasure to work with. Douglas and his very talented team listened to our vision and then created an amazing design plan for us that incorporated our ideas with beautiful flourishes of his own. Our budget was respected throughout the process and goods were manufactured and delivered in a timely manner. The design plan was executed with great attention and we were absolutely thrilled with the results. We would choose to work with him and his team again in a heartbeat!

Douglas was amazing when we completely updated a dreary out of date large Victorian. He guided us with a fabulous sense of color and spatial design. I can not speak about Douglas and his team without using superlatives. The exterior of our house incorporated nine colors that were breath taking. He mixed very high end items with finds from second hand stores. The upgrading of the main floor was sensitive and respectful yet added punch where needed. We remodeled four baths and each was unique and incorporated elements that added functionality and beauty. We combined three bedrooms into a dreamy master suite and Douglas led the architect in configuring the double walk in closets and bathroom layout. . Douglas also bought dining room furniture for us in Paris that was perfect. Douglas knows the key vendors and gave us access to things that were very special. I would absolutely hire Douglas and his team again for any project.

After having worked with different designers over the years, I would now work with none other than Douglas and his design team. Douglas is the consummate professional, who collaborates with clients to achieve an outcome that is current, creative and still timeless. He has a particularly good eye for fabrics and a modern design aesthetic. I would highly recommend Douglas Graneto Design for any project (big or small).

Incredibly talented and creative! Douglas and his team are outstanding and incredibly service oriented. We absolutely loved working with them. They have an extremely professional process. For example, the first thing they did was to have an architect come to our the house and do a CAD drawing. Thereafter, the entire process flowed seamlessly. They take ownership of the project and guide you in the right direction. My husband and I both work and they brought samples to our office at a time that was convenient for us, consistently moving forward with the project despite our busy schedules. Most of all they are kind, communicate well, and have impeccable taste. We give them our highest recommendation.

I had the most wonderful experience working with Douglas!!! We decorated an entire house together. He really listened to what I wanted and helped to create the exact vision I had described to him. Douglas is patient, creative and has a sophisticated and wonderful eye. He was thoughtful and paid attention to details. His team was also easily reached and quite helpful.I cannot say enough good things about him. But he is the best! I plan on using Douglas Graneto Design for all my future projects.

Douglas and the rest of his company were excellent!! I would highly and enthusiastically recommend all aspects of Douglas's work including his continued and constant professionalism, deep and thorough knowledge, second-to-none work quality, and ability to successfully navigate and resolve issues. This together with Douglas's general pleasantness and good-natured disposition would make him desirable to any project team. I recently engaged Douglas Graneto Design on a second project.

Wear and Douglas were simply wonderful to work with! We had a relatively small, but important to us, decorating project on a second home. They were responsive and stayed within our budget. They were able to help us with furnishings and paint colors. We love what they did for us and would recommend them whole heartedly!

I have a television production business and we shoot many of our lifestyle and cooking shows in our house. it had to look great. Douglas saved me - he assessed what i had - a lot of mid century furniture - and used it as the backbone to unify our rooms into sleek, contemporary spaces that were both family friendly and appropriate for our 100 year old house.. Moreover, he worked with my crazy schedule - i literally had no time whatsoever to focus on my house. Ten years later it still looks fresh because his choices were never hackneyed or trite. I love it so much and can honestly say what he did improved the quality of our lives in ways that can't be measured.
