My husband and I could not be happier with the way our custom built ins turned out. I found Bill on Houzz, and after obtaining a handful of quotes, we decided to move forward with him due to his professionalism, experience, and willingness to work within our budget. After our first meeting we knew he was definitely the right person for the job. He asked all the right questions, and had suggestions for things we hadn’t even thought of. He navigated our steep challenge of integrating the built ins to match our existing trim with expertise. Throughout the process, which overlapped with the holidays, communication with him was always prompt and expectations were clear. He was also very considerate of COVID safety measures and worked on the entire project, including hauling all of his supplies and the completed shelves up five flights of stairs, while wearing a mask without any question or complaint. We felt completely safe having him in our home. The amount of detail and effort he put into our project is incredible. We ended up with beautiful shelves that look like they were original to the home - which is more than we could have hoped for. We’d definitely recommend Bill to others looking for a skilled and professional craftsman.

From start to finish, working with Bill was a seamless process. He was extremely professional, punctual and responsive. He met my budget to the dollar and was very solution oriented. He built me 4 custom floating shelves in less than 2 weeks. He was extremely detail oriented. The shelves turned out perfect, which I anticipated the whole time as he listened to exactly what I was looking for and knew the desired outcome. Bill did a terrific job for us and we would highly recommend him. He took our vision of simple, but modern, built-in shelves with cabinets underneath and turned it into a thoughtful design that included moving a vent, moving an outlet, and hiding our cable modem. He was also careful to consider how best to design the unit and install it so our toddler couldn't get herself in trouble. My husband and I were looking for someone to create a customized window seat for us, and we had no idea who to contact. A realtor friend of ours mentioned that she heard excellent things about Bill’s work, and she was not wrong. We live in a building that’s been around since the early 1900s, and Bill managed to capture the look of our space perfectly-the end result is a window seat that looks like it has always been there. He even matched the molding on our wall when creating the window seat detailing- the end result is stunning! Bill spent a lot of time walking us through every phase of the process, which was so helpful to us. He created multiple models (drawings AND a foam template built to size), and provided much-needed input and guidance. As a result, there were no “surprises;” additionally the project was finished on schedule and stayed within budget. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Bill to anyone in need of carpentry services. Our experience with Bill Cigliano was excellent. We can't say enough positive things about the man or his work. He recently completed our mantel and built-ins. We had some ideas and Bill really took the time and effort to flesh them out and guide us toward the best design choices. He presented us with detailed drawings and was patient with our suggestions. The build out was meticulous--he created models and worked around the uneven quirks of our newly remodeled older home. He is truly a craftsman and a really cool guy. The project was an excellent value compared to other estimates we received, stayed on budget and was completed on schedule (the only delays were on our part related to ordering tile). It is telling that we receive so many compliments-many people think the bookcases and mantel are original to the house, as Bill constructed them so flawlessly.

We have a small dining room in our 50s raised ranch. Having a full dining set with a sideboard was too much for the room it was feeling claustrophobic. We decided we wanted a built-in banquette with storage. We liked a similar piece of Bill's that we saw here on Houzz, but it didn't have storage. We are so glad we contacted him. From the initial email to the final touches, Bill was professional, responsive, and conscientious about every detail. He came with ideas, listened to our needs, and was just as excited as we were about the piece. Bill is an artist with immeasurable talents. My husband and I recommend him wholeheartedly and unequivocally.

Bill at Edgewater Woodwork, is truly a craftsmen. He developed our wall unit to blend with our fireplace and mantel. His attention to detail , creativity and the "custom" stain he developed and applied to match the fireplace, wood flooring and our tastes was truly--"1 of a kind". Bill has a special set of talents having been an illustrator / artist in a previous life. He brings impeccable craftsmanship and a real design sense to his work. He cares not only about how a piece will look when installed, but how it will look after a few seasons of expansion/contraction and wear and tear. He also knows what he doesn't know and seeks out advice from others or mocks up and tests designs or techniques before trying them out on a project. We've worked with Bill on a number of projects and look forward to having him build more of our designs in the future.

We hired Bill to design and build two build in bookcases with cabinets on the bottom to flank our fireplace. He took my simple idea and made it a work of art by complementing existing design elements of our mantle and crown molding. Right down to matching our white trim perfectly. He was a pleasure to work with. Moreover, he finished the project ahead of schedule and within budget, which was very important to us given we are first time home owners on a budget. Bill designed and built a beautiful L-shaped banquette for our kitchen in Wilmette. It has transformed our small space and become the heart of our home! His art/design background, and his master carpentry skills, led to a comfortable and functional piece of fine, built-in furniture. The materials are top quality, and the workmanship is flawless. His full-sized model resulted in a completely comfortable and ergonomic seating area. Bill is a true professional, always friendly, punctual and neat in the work space. Bill designed and constructed a deck for us, replaced the cellar door that had badly deteriorated and constructed a small cedar fence in the backyard. Bill was highly professional in working with us on the design of the deck, making sure that we understood exactly what we were getting and the pros and cons of the choices we made. He was absolutely meticulous in his work; every aspect of the deck was well thought out and perfectly executed. The deck, door and fence were all constructed to last for decades. In addition, Bill was personally a pleasure to work with.
