Fine Custom Construction

I selected this company based on all the very positive reviews. When they bid my project- they bid it at over 100k, which I was prepared to pay because of their reviews. I started working with them in August of 2022- I selected them because they said they could start my project that winter. They promised a number of things, which never materialized- such as a designer that had a style that I liked. I ended up with a designer that didn't have the contemporary style I wanted- and the company charged me $700 for the designer services- even though the designer didn't offer me any new ideas. He spent 2 hours of work- giving me no new ideas or anything that I could use. I ended up so frustrated with the lack of commitment of promises- I ended up asking for my deposit back. After about 3 months of trying to get our project started, I had to start from square one with another company in December. It looks like I'll save quite a. bit of money not going with this company. I feel compelled to let others know that not every experience with Fine Custom is a 5 star event. You're also paying for an outrageous amount of overhead by going with them.

Absolute professionals. I truly appreciated the team, their honest feedback, and thoughtful recommendations for our interior home updates. I liked their app for all communications and staying up to date. I would definitely work with Fine again.

FIne Remodeling was a pleasure to work with! Mark, the designer and project managers were always responsive when we reached out to them with questions or concerns. All employees were personable and helpful. As the saying goes, “you get what you pay for,” and this is true for Fine. They are not the least expensive of contractors for a very good reason; the work they do themselves, the sub-contractors, suppliers and products they use are of high quality. We wanted a contractor that would take care of everything so we didn’t have to do anything but make decisions presented to us, which proved true for Fine. We also valued the services of the designer who made all appointments for choosing appliances, lighting, countertops, etc., and then guided us in making decisions. We love our remodel!

We had Fine Custom Construction remodel two bathrooms for us and they did a great job and came in on budget. I highly recommend them for any remodel projects you may have as they have the experience and expertise you would want in a contractor.

This was my third remodel. I must be crazy. However, working with the Fine Remodel team was a pleasure. The project was on time. They were always accessible when questions arose. The site manager Eric was on site almost everyday even if almost nothing was going on. The quality of their work is outstanding. My previous remodels went well but this was at another level. Thanks Fine Remodel I love my entire main floor remodel.

I have nothing but good things to say about the folks at Fine Remodel. The entire process and especially the final product exceeded my expectations. We met and discussed the assignment, the presented a fixed bid and we got started. They managed my expectations very well. They communicate clearly and work quickly and efficiently. I knew the status of each step along the way. They showed up when they said they would and their work is the highest quality. My kitchen remodel involved removing a load-bearing wall and replacing it with engineered lumber. They made quick work of it and every day I saw tremendous progress. As the project progressed I added to the scope. They were quick to get me a fixed bid change order so I could authorize the additional work and keep the schedule moving. They're fair, honest, friendly and the work is exceptional. I highly recommend Fine Remodel.

Highland Group has over the past 30 years participated with numerous quality general contractors. Mark of Fine Remodel is one of the limited people that remains on the top of our "Preferred" reference list. We could, I'd suppose, continue the accolades and praises indefinitely, but, most would get board. With that being said, there will be no regrets with Mark and his professional staff of Fine Remodel.

We had a great experience with Fine. The work was great and they took care of any problems that came up along the way. Very nice, courteous, and easy to work with. We would hire them again.

We had a roof remodel which entailed tearing off the old shingles, shoring up the existing 103 year old timbers, replacing the shingles, removing 2 chimneys and tuck-pointing a third, plus having vents placed in the existing soffit. The team members were courteous, professional, efficient and timely, and the project was actually completed slightly under budget.

Fine Remodel did an excellent job remodeling our condominium. They are easy to work with and everything was done to perfection. Very attentive to details. We were. Wry impressed with the quality of the job.

I needed a company that would give me exceptional service from start to finish. I needed attention to detail, dependability, integrity and no surprises with quality or cost. I got just that with Fine Remodel. I was very impressed with the whole team and I plan to use them on future projects as well.

Fine Remodel provided the construction services (and design input) for a remodel (creation of an "inside-out room" out of an otherwise- ordinary family room) designed by my retained design firm and myself. The final product is simply magnificent! I would say that communication took a lot of work (and sometimes left room for improvement) because with 3 principals (Fine, design firm, myself) + subs and a schedule to adhere to, it was easy for wires to get crossed; not unexpected. This being said, for crossed wires, as well as the always-to-be-expected cost and budget issues, my Fine go-to guy was Kelly Checketts; I was always able to get a hold of him and he always managed to calm the waters and get us through the issues. The fact that my superb design firm has a long-standing relationship with Fine, and with Kelly and Mark B. in particular, was important. Although we were over in budget (and had to make some hard choices) and behind in schedule, it was far from the remodel and new construction war stories that I/we all have heard!! When I do my kitchen and bath remodels, I'll likely look for my same design and construction "team" again!! * please note that, although I don't have great pictures to upload, Fine has some terrific pictures of the finished product, which I'm sure could be gotten

Fine Remodel was outstanding!! We did a full remodel of our kitchen, and partial remodel of our dining room. The entire project took 8 weeks - which was actually less than I thought it would take. Fine Remodel did an outstanding job of communicating and there were never any surprises. They worked with our schedule (vacations & doing the hardwood floors ourselves) and the worksite was kept very clean. Besides not being able to use my kitchen for 8 weeks, I hardly noticed they were there. In addition to the quality work they do, they are compassionate as they sent a nice card and plant at the end of the job when our family pet died unexpectedly.

Fine Remodel renovated our bathroom. It was a great experience and the bathroom is beautiful. Our contractor was skilled but amazingly a good communicator. They actually stayed very close to the initial estimate and prepared us for the process very well. This company has its act together.

Mark and his team are absolute professionals! Through every stage of the remodel process, we had constant communication. Our demolition alone took several weeks... Our project consisted of a complete renovation from concrete to studs in our basement including relocation of the entire mechanical room. We are very happy with the final results, and look onward to our next project with Fine Remodel.

I found Fine Remodel on Houzz.com. Hired them to move my kitchen and laundry room to different areas of the house and to also update main bath and master room and bath. I wanted more open area for kitchen, dining rm, family rm, which would require to take out load bearing wall. I can't express enough how great Fine Remodel was to work with. Their bid and estimated completed time line was realistic. They were great to communicate what was going on and were sensitve to the fact we were still living in the house while the project was going on. The final product turned out beautiful. I would highly recomend Mark and his crew for any construction project. His project manager, Wes, was so helpful and was on top of the project each step of the way. Mark, gave a suggestion of a Interior Designer, JB Design Company. She designed the kitchen and laundery room and stayed in touch with Fine Remodel through out the whole project. It was a really good experience and we are so happy with the way our home looks and feels.

Fine Remodel was an excelent choice for us for our remodel! Mark and his crew, including his office staff, were GREAT to work with! Our project was a remodel over a remodel of an older house and was not a project for the faint of heart. Mark held our hand through the whole process and we could not be more pleased or excited about the finished product! If your project requires ingenuity and creativity, Fine Remodel is the company to go with! We were very impressed by the vast knowledge, as well as the willingness of Fine Remodel to work through any issue or design ideas we had. We are very happy with the outcome of the project. Our experience with other contractors in the past had been frustrating so Fine's professionalism was a wonderful breath of fresh air. After the project started it became evident that there were structural issues that we had not anticipated. Fine worked with our engineer and came up with creative solutions that were affordable, sound and esthetically pleasing. The craftsmanship was impeccable and now a year after completion is still holding up and beautiful. Fine kept to their schedule, maintained a clean work environment and worked with us in order to avoid any unnecessary disruption. We have indoor pets and Fine was very careful to manage our needs and worked with us to keep them protected throughout the remodel process. Since completion of the original work we have had them back for a bathroom remodel which is also spectacular and even came in under budget. We would highly recommend Fine Remodel to anyone without reservation!

I have not had the opportunity to hire Fine Remodel. However, I have confidently referred them to friends, and I have had the pleasure of seeing a lot of their work. I am amazed at how well they transform houses into beautiful and practical homes. I would refer them in a heart beat in the future and would feel confident working with them in the future if the opportunity arose.

When I found Fine Remodel, I had just come off a small project where I went with the lowest priced contractor on the list. It wasn't a disaster, but I certainly wished I'd spent more money to get better quality. "Fine Remodel" is probably the most literal and accurate name for this company. The work they did was phenomenal. They're on the expensive side of the spectrum but I feel it was worth every penny. Some things that stood out to me are: 1. Saw the project end to end. The last part of a project is always the slowest and most painful. It's also the point where most contractors start to disappear. Fine Remodel was checking up on the job to make sure every last item was done correctly — even after I'd sent them my final check. 2. Quality subcontractors. The guys they brought in were always professional, clean and friendly. There were no beer cans left lying around, no loud music coming from the basement, etc. They were accommodating to my schedule — especially since our family grew during the course of the project. 3. Quality finish. I've never seen such straight walls in my life. The quality of my finished basement exceeds the quality of the upstairs. 4. Attention to detail. Not only did they make sure the project was finished as requested, they were great about getting things right along the way. Large projects always have a few small things along the way that aren't quite right. Fine Remodel was great about fixing them quickly with no fuss. 5. Friendly. My goodness were they friendly! Every interaction with every person at that company was a pleasure.

I have worked as a vendor with Fine remodel for over 5 years. Mark and his team are absolute professionals in every way. They provide high quality service and demand high quality service and products from their sub-contractors and vendors. Each and every job I have worked on with Fine has been seamless, timely, and efficient. Any project I have with Fine I know will be enjoyable to be on and will finish with a happy customer.

Fine Remodel turned our newly purchased older condo, into a spacious, contemporary and universally designed home. The Fine team and subcontractors were professional and very patient with our novice questions. We look forward to working with Fine Remodel in the future.

His ethics are beyond compare, his services are known throughout the community, market and region and the personality of Mark himself as along with his staff are beyond compare. We had a complete interior remodel of several rooms, including the kitchen, master bath, master closet, laundry room, and some less extensive remodeling in other rooms. Nearly all of the flooring was replaced (Hardwood, carpet, and tile), many new cabinets, walls removed or moved, a steel beam installed so weight-bearing walls could be removed, installation of new appliances, fixtures, windows, sliding doors, electrical work, plumbing, drywall, painting and more. This was NOT a job for a do-it-yourself-er. Every single day since the remodel we have completely enjoyed our home. It's stunning! Previously it was nice-enough, but outdated, and now it is modern and fantastic. If I had wanted a quick and cheap job, I would have chosen someone else. I am very happy with the work that was done, and my interactions with the team. Some things that really made a difference was the professionalism and skill level of the Fine Remodel team, including the office staff. We live on a very steep hill so not just anyone who calls themselves a contractor should be trusted to do this kind of advanced work, but I would trust Fine Remodel to do any job on this house. Mark was knowledgeable, responsive, attentive, personable, and pleasant, even when my husband or myself felt the need to freak out. The project manager was also great to work with. Certainly this was a complex project that went as well as it could. No detail was left un-finished, even though it took some time to tie up loose ends. (It's those stragglers that stay in your memory...so I'm really glad they took the time and energy to take care of every last detail.) Some hiccups along the way included not fitting into anticipated schedule due to delays by subcontractors and suppliers, and due to our own extensive list of additions to the job, upgrades and changes to the plans, we exceeded our original budget and added to the timeline. Fine Remodel provided a list cabinet companies, flooring suppliers, etc, and I was free to chose from that list or others. We ran into delays and issues with the cabinet company that we chose from the list, and also with the closet company that was recommended, but ultimately Fine Remodel took full responsibility for making sure it was done right, often stepping in and taking care of issues themselves to make sure it was done right. I never heard anyone from the Fine Remodel team grumble or swear on site. (Though I cannot say that about some of the sub-contractors who lapsed in professionalism.) We ran into a big snag when the refrigerator did not fit into the cabinetry as I hoped. It was already too late to blame the responsible parties for this goof, but Fine Remodel stepped right in and went to great lengths to make it work. Yay! We've got two bathrooms that did not get remodeled at this time and I hope to take care of those in the future. I wouldn't consider anyone but Fine Remodel to do the job.

I have worked with Mark & his Fine Remodel team on many of my projects and will absolutely continue to do so. I recommend him to all my clients that are in need of construction & remodeling services because of his forthrightness, honesty and fantastic work. I enjoy Mark's input on details that add greatly to the end result! Fine Remodel rebuilt our deck and remodeled our two bathrooms and a bedroom. They did a great job and always followed up on the quality of the results. Some of the wood shrunk on the deck after a year, they came and re-positioned all the boards and replaced some of the very expensive wood. Most importantly, they care about whether you are getting what will really work as well as what you really want, and they worry about the details.

I had Fine Remodel re-do a bathroom last year. It's a very small space. I wanted them to maximize the area as best they could. They were able to utilize the space & then some. I can honestly say it is the nicest room in the house. It has a spa-like feeling. The attention to detail was impressive. Not only with the remodel but from the very moment I met Mark. I've dealt with a lot of contractors over the years & have been burned in some way, shape or form by most. They're on a different level. Mark has a great team. Dean oversaw the project and did an incredible job. Couldn't believe how communicative they were during the whole process. I've since had them to do another remodel (earlier this year) with another property from top to bottom. It was completely destroyed from tenants, and Fine Remodel transformed the house to where it was initially. It's actually fundamentally better than it was due to some suggestions from them. I will tell anyone who listens, if you're looking to get work done, these are the guys. Don't take the chance & get burned by someone else. Trust me. We had a family room and bedroom addition added to our house which included a remodel of our existing kitchen, living room, and laundry room. I felt I was getting nothing but the best from every person who was involved in the work. I was impressed with the way Mark Blankman went to bat for us when some mistakes were made by the company who provided the kitchen cabinets and would not rest until the problem was fixed. Any concern we had during the project was dealt with immediately by our job foreman, Dean West, and there was the utmost attention to detail in every aspect of the work. Mark and his talented crew at Fine Remodel did a complete remodel of our kitchen and family room. We could not be more pleased. The work was done on time and on budget. Everyone on the construction team took great care to listen to us, explain things to us, and help us make decisions. Fine Remodel transformed my basement walkout and patio into a showplace while also resolving issues I had with drainage and water collecting near my home's foundation. They installed a remotely located French drain and remodeled my patio with paving stones to create a work of art. Their crew was courteous and always cleaned up after the days work, keeping the work area safe for my family and looking neat.
