I just had my new fireplace insert installed through Fireside Stove & Hearth, Matt Barthels & I am thrilled with it. It replace the very old log insert that was no longer safe & did not really give off heat. I love sitting in my living room, reading a book, listening to music, & having my fireplace on right now in the very cold December weather. What a great Christmas present to myself! Matt came to my home & did all the planning which save me a lot of running around town. Ryan the installer was so great. He made sure every detail on the fireplace was just right. As the GM of the Comfort Inn University in Missoula, I have the opportunity to work with a lot of different vendors for an array of different projects. However, I can say that Matt and his team at Fireside Stove & Hearth are one of the absolute best to work with. He and his team installed massive, table height firepits and I couldn't be happier with the work they completed. From the beginning to the end of the project, Matt kept great open communication about the status of the project. He did everything in his power to make sure that the project was completed on time- even when they had to endure a few weeks of extremely cold weather. Matt did not exceed the original budget, and maintained flexibility with the other subcontractor's schedules. He was sure to take the time to answer any questions I had, and thoroughly explained every step of the process. We had checked around quite a bit and were a bit discouraged when luck swung our way and we found Matt Barthels with Fireside Stove and Hearth. Matt lead us through the whole process as to which stove we would be the happiest with for what we were wanting to accomplish. We really had no idea a good stove from a bad stove when we started looking. All we found for sure was you could spend as much as you wanted or as little as you wanted and either way you still may not get what you wanted out of it. Matt came to our new home and looked things over and gave us some great ideas. He not once made us feel pressured but instead it was quite obvious he had the knowledge we were looking for. No question we had was ever considered a dumb question. In fact I felt a bit educated on stove types and efficiency of each stove when we were done with our first visit. When he left he told my wife and I to talk it over and let him know if we had any more questions. As he pulled out of the driveway we looked at each other and agreed we would need to look no further for our "Stove Man". I called Matt that night or maybe the next day and told him we wanted to proceed with picking our stove and had already picked from the information he left which one we wanted. I was nervous about having my part done right for the stove to fit the hole I made for it. Matt assured me he would make any adjustment that may be needed. It went so smooth that I felt a bit foolish for the stress I had put myself through prior to finding Matt. After the stove was in I had questions about my chimney. We had never built a new log home before and it seemed there was always a question for somebody, but the biggest problem was just who do you ask what question?? We indicated to Matt what we wanted for our final look for the chimney and the hearth and he gave us more very valuable information. He told us of a few people that did rock work and even told us where we might be able to find some of each of their work to look at. We didn't need to look any where. One company Matt said had done several jobs behind him he was impressed with. So we called them and they did another perfect job for us. Through all of the process Matt would call and check to make sure we didn't have any questions. He also called a few weeks later after the whole job was complete just to make sure we knew how the stove worked and thank us for allowing him to sell us our stove. I heard about Matt from a friend. We had done alot of shopping around to find a good quality stove at the right size for our house for the least amount of money. We almost ordered one when we heard about Matt. He not only had a better quality stove with a higher efficiency rating, he sold it to us for less money than the other one would have cost, plus saved us a bunch of money on the pipe as well. Then I built my own hearth and decided to make it about a foot high so my wife could sit in front of the fire. When I went to install the stove my pipe was too long. I called Matt and told him what I had done and he switched out the pipe for me that day and actually saved me some more money on the pipe at that point! I had never installed a wood stove before and he answered all of my questions even though instalation is part of his business. In the end it cost me about 1500.00. If I ever have a need to put in another wood stove I will definately buy it from Matt!

We were extremely happy how the entire process was handled and completed. They were very helpful with ideas that we didn't think of that would help our plans stand out even more. When the budget was tight they were able to help with finding different ways to still get what we wanted and kept the look of the work very professional and on budget. When we had them over for an estimate/consultation they came back with the most professional bid that I have ever seen from several other contractors we had come over. They had everything broke down and itemized and the estimate was almost dead on with the completed job. They were professional and helpful even when we were having to change things once the whole bid process was completed. They also were very flexible with mine and my soon to be wife's schedule and would be with us at late afternoon evening hours to go over plans and to check on the process of the work. Bottom line, I haven't seen a better professional group and the work they did was exceptional. I would recommend them to anyone who is planning renovations big or small, and will not think twice to use them again on future projects.

Matt arrived on time for a site inspection and returned a cost estimate promptly. We determined an installation date and the installers arrived on time, were courteous, efficient and cleaned up when finished. Matt was fair in adjusting his quote based on the fact that we had the inserts removed separately.

We had a fireplace insert and free standing gas stove installed recently. Matt and Ryan with Fireside were extremely professional and helpful, going over our options and picking the right products for our needs. The installation was very well done and on a timely, efficient basis. Matt is a very good communicator and I highly recommend his company and services.
