Gaile Guevara

I've known Gaile since 2013 - When I first met her, what I saw what a very talented Interior Designer with a vision and the power to make people dream about a project. No matter if they were client, staff member, consultant, supplier or volunteer! I always appreciate and been impress with Gaile's design and vision. As a Lighting Consultant, I helped her with finding ways to technically make alive her vision of the project or space's lighting ambience or detail, offering my opinion and expertise on her amazing projects and sourcing the solution that best fit her project's needs. The first time we met (back in August 2013) was for a fundraising project of a laneway home which would be but 3 times: once in a warehouse, then at a Design show (IDSWest Vancouver), then on the property of whoever will win the auction. I thought that was crazy and then it was an amazing experience! Then I collaborated with Gaile on several residential and commercial projects with lighting budget going from $40,000 to over $200,000, and I always took as an example the level of dedication she put into realizing her client's vision and beautiful spaces. Thank you, Gaile for your trust and I'm looking forward to continuing serving your projects!

Gaile is a true artist. She was the designer for a condo we renovated in Coal Harbour. Her eye for detail was frustrating as a contractor at first, but the finished product was undeniably immaculate. She was open to suggestion in our weekly meetings regarding execution of design specifications and applications, which made the process run smoothly and effectively. Normally I feel like I'm fighting with designers, and Gaile's entire team just felt like constructive teammates. This project being in my portfolio of work increased business due to it's quality and client reviews. I look forward to working with Gaile and the team again.

No detail is left unattended with this team through conceptual design to when the owner occupies the house on move-in day. We have really enjoyed collaborating with Gaile and her staff to create honest, timeless, and creative experiences for our clients. Based out of Vancouver, British Columbia they have connected us with new partnerships for our projects in Canada and throughout the United States.

We hired Gaile some months ago for a major renovation project on our new townhome. That turned out to be a very big, very costly mistake. Weeks, months in some instances, passed with no communication from Gaile, no return of email or phone calls, just inexplicable flat silence. Design elements were dropped, material orders were missed, and there seemed to be almost no coordination with the builder. In the end we were left with a mess of a project that ran nearly a year late and tens of thousands over budget. It will take tens of thousands more to fix things. Gaile sells a nice story about sharing her gift, about caring, about designing spaces that augment our lifestyles, and about choosing quality. And the photos here and elsewhere look beautiful. It's all a lovely story and I feel it may even have been worth the frustration of working with Gaile if she had delivered in the end. She did not though, and this, together with our seeing the misleading photos of our project here and hearing similar stories from other clients, prompted me to write this review. I will add a couple of photos showing what things really look like when you remove the filters and step away from the convenient camera angles.

Their scope of work and overall design style represents our product selection very well and they are great when it comes to sourcing some of our very unique offerings. They are a wonderful, organized and knowledgeable team and we are proud to be a part of their projects.

I am a design professional who wanted both to hire Gaile to finish off my own small condo here in Vancouver and to bring her on as a consultant at my firm. I chose Gaile because she has great design talent. In working with her on my condo, things started off well. She had great ideas and was friendly to work with. Then, suddenly she stopped all communication. For weeks I waited to hear back from her. I received no replies to my repeated attempts, no explanations and no appologies. As a design professional who regards customer service as being of the utmost importance, I really found this to be a very sad ending to what could have been a promising relationship. No one is ever that busy that they can't call or email someone back after a entire month goes by. Anyone who is wanting to hire Gaile should be extremely wary of her customer service skills (and maybe her organizational skills as well). My own experience with her was rather poor to say the least.

We worked with Gaile on our apartment reno. She pushed us out of our comfort zone to do things we never even would have thought of including removing a walk in closet (which was poorly laid out) and converting a two bedroom (both pretty small) into a large open one bedroom. Both of these items completely suited our lifestyle and how we use the space everyday. She her expert vision with bringing to life our ideas in an even better way than we imagined. She was able to turn a very dark, cramp 900 square foot into a bright, open, highly organized, calm tranquil city retreat. Our fave highlights: attention to storage solutions, spa like bathroom (we actually have yet to find a bathroom we like more than our own!!) and the lighting! Every time we have company over they are AMAZED at the transformation and we have already recommended Gaile and her team to our friends.

Gaile Guevara understands how to ask the right questions, listen to the client’s answers and then translate the information into meaningful, beautiful design. The end result is space that exceeds expectation, which is why Alair Homes North Vancouver / West Vancouver has been happy to partner with Gaile in the past and we look forward to more projects together in the future.

Gaile and her wonderful team came on as the interior designer and stylist for our Laneway Home Feature at IDSwest in 2014. Gaile worked with a very limited budget and masterfully created our most stunning feature to date. Her passion, dedication and work ethic were inspiring to all those around her. Without her this would project would not have come to fruition. I would highly recommend Gaile for any project.
