GDG Designworks

I have worked with GDG Designworks on two types of projects: (1) a redecoration of my previous apartment, and (2) from start to finish on the building of a new home. GDG was professional, knowledgeable, timely, and fun to work with. It was a true collaboration - I never once felt overshadowed by his personal desires or tastes. GDG was always respective of my goals. (I find this statement contrary to many designers I have met). GDG took my game to a new level! On my redecoration, I loosely had an idea of what I wanted to achieve, but did not have time to find the pieces or shop (I worked full-time). GDG brought me swatches, pictures, tear-sheets, etc. and we worked it that way. 10 years later, my apartment still looks great - modern, yet timeless. On my second project with GDG, I did have the time, and we selected everything from grout colors to the flooring to the furniture and artwork. It was a truly amazing experience - one that I could not have imaged without GDG. Overall I would give GDG the highest ranking possible. He has impeccable taste and is extremely easy to work with - he always gets it.

GDG Designworks is truly excellent. I hired Gregg to decorate my apartment and, simply put, he transformed it. He has an elegant sense of design and, almost as important, an ability to move a project along swiftly from conceptualization to completion. Gregg Gelman is everything you would look for in a designer. He has incredible taste and ideas, but he also can truly incorporate what the client wants/expects in all aspects of the design and budget. He understands the delicate balance of offering his design expertise while appealing and tapping into just what the client wants. I always found while he respected my vision, he always enhanced my ideas. He has innovative, beautiful l ideas and if I didn't have ideas for some aspects of the design, he always had his own ideas without being pushy. Gregg designed our New York city home and a Fire Island summer home for us, and I would recommend him to anyone! He is so much fun to be with that I enjoyed our shopping trips and nothing ever felt hard. We were so pleased with the end results, and he gets lots of compliments when people come over!

Great taste. Attention to detail. Incredibly organized. Impeccable follow-through. Sophisticated creativity. What more could you want in a designer? We've hired Gregg twice. When we first moved into our apartment 15 years ago, Gregg helped us furnish our home. Immediately, he understood what we wanted our environment to feel like. The process was easy and simple - for every piece, his options were always on-point and there was always the one that we immediately loved. And even though we gave him the option of throwing everything out that we had at the time and starting with a blank canvas, he kept some of our stuff in the mix. As he said, "This is about you and some of these pieces are great." 2 years ago we decided to do a gut-renovation. We never considered anyone else because we couldn't imagine anyone better. Gregg also introduced us to our architect who was the perfect complement to the project. Once again, Gregg was like a drone missile - he took us to the perfect resources to achieve our vision and also respect our budget. We even requested to see more options because we couldn't believe that the first options would in fact be our first choices. But they were. Gregg is always supportive and enthusiastic. But he'll also tell you when he doesn't like something. And he'll always assert his opinion when you're headed in the wrong direction. The results: People copy our kitchen and bathrooms. Thankfully, he talked us into doing new floors. We were inclined to avoid that cost but he was right - they are the most transformative element in the renovation. He was right and we love him for pushing us. And again, he worked with some of the furniture we had. He's never about doing the expensive thing. He's about doing the right thing. And one more unique talent - this man KNOWS how to hang art. No kidding - people marvel at the way our art completes the environment. His goal isn't to design "his home" - his talent is creating the home that fits you and your life. Oh yeah - and it's beautiful. Talk to Gregg. We're really happy we did.
