Alusta Construction basement finishing

Alusta Construction did an outstanding job refinishing our basement. From the beginning of the project Gregg was extremely helpful and upfront. He worked with us to turn our basement into a beautiful space that met all of our needs. There are two nightmares you always hear about when it comes to home construction: costs that end up being much higher than expected and projects that take much longer than planned. Neither of these happened with Alusta! Gregg stuck to his estimate and finished our basement on time with the end result being even better than we had hoped. I cannot emphasize enough how great Gregg and his team were to work with and what amazing work they did! We were so happy that we hired Alusta again to renovate our home office.

Gregg and his team at Alusta Construction did an amazing job with our basement remodel. They helped take a completely unfinished room and make it into two amazing rooms, one for the adults and one for the kids. Not to mention adding our full bathroom that has proved to be essential to the room. Our new basement isn't a "finished basement," it's a living space that I don't know how we lived without! Alusta was great -starting with the planning stages and throughout the project, offering suggestions to improve the final product. The custom built ins for our bar and our kids room storage are well thought out and beautifully designed. Gregg took the time to meet with us on our choices of granite, flooring, and cabinet color options. Project was on time and on budget. These rooms are the center of our home for entertaining and every day use. Finally - I was amazed every night by not only how much was done each day during the project, but also how CLEAN the room and the house were throughout the project.

My Wife and I found Gregg after an exhaustive search locally and within the Houzz community. Even though he lived an hour away in another state - he was willing to come down for a free consultation. His professionalism, flexibility, and quality of work was the reason why we chose him and his crew and we are so glad that we did. The final basement design was a collaborative effort and Alusta worked with us to make sure we were happy with the overall result. Gregg and his crew were great to work with. They were always on time and stayed on schedule. He is very detailed in all aspects of carpentry. He treats your home/job like its his home. Our basement came out better then we thought: His workmanship is of the highest quality and so are his materials. If you want high end custom work with attention to detail and robust/timely schedules then pick Alusta! We were very impressed and would use Alusta again for any other work on our home.

I was referred to Alusta Construction by a good friend of mine who is in the building industry and my basement remodel was to big for him to do. Greg from Alusta met with my wife and myself and determined our needs and wants and came up with a wonderful design for our basement. The total basement remodel was 2000 sq. feet and from beginning to end did nothing but amaze and satisfy. Throughout the process gave us status updates and worked with my wife and I on color choices, styles, and was the neatest/cleanest contractor I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He kept on schedule throughout the process and finished our basement remodel a day or two early. His detailed quote from the beginning was a welcome surprise and was easy to work with when we made some changes along the way. When reading reviews, I usually find it helpful to know what the people are like who are writing them because I'd like to know what biases they have before taking their word on anything. So quick background: both my husband and I are detail-oriented multi-taskers with a great appreciation for efficient time management by profession. To boot, my husband is a skilled woodworker with an eye for craftsmanship and a nose for finding the slightest flaws from basic construction to finish work. Basically, we are every contractor's worst nightmare. I hope this gives weight when I say that hiring Alustra Construction was the best decision we could have ever made for our basement renovation. It was not only completely painless, but it was an absolute pleasure working with them. Typical experiences with contractors usually include lack of responsiveness where emails and calls seem to disappear into a void, major time delays, suspect sub-contractors, cutting corners to hurry up and finish a job, and a general sustained feeling of frustration and impatience while feeling completely at their mercy because you don’t feel like you have any options but let them finish at their own pace. Not once did we experience any one of those frustrations. Gregg Aho and his team were professional from day one. He came to our house after work the day after our call. He asked great detailed questions and provided us a quote exactly when he said he would, which was in line or lower than other quotes we had received. As he does most of the work personally, Gregg provided us with a day by day schedule of proposed work which included deadlines for any design decisions we would need to make so there was no rushing to pick paint colors or fixtures. Not only were there no delays, but he finished the job a week and a half early! I'm sure that is not always the case since delays can happen, but I think it is a testament to his organization, attention to detail and planning that allowed the project to finish ahead of schedule. Little things that set Gregg apart were how clearly and frequently he communicated every step and situation: He regularly FaceTime’d with my husband to show him live shots of progress or get input before final construction decisions were made or to make helpful design recommendations. He put a lock on the door to the basement from the upstairs to give us the security of knowing no one could enter into the rest of the house while we were gone He had a portopotty set up from the first day so his crew never needed to use our facilities. One day, he was able to calculate mid-conversation the cost differences based on upgrades and downgrades we had chosen so we could see how on or off track we were from the original quote. (This was huge in terms of avoiding unanticipated charges at the end.) His efforts to provide us excellent service as well as a gorgeous finished product were above and beyond our already high expectations. I literally cannot recommend Alustra Construction enough. Gregg and his team did a fantastic job designing and coordinating the project. He gave a detailed list of work to be done each week and was finished in the time he committed to up front. He and his team provide excellent service and do beautiful work.

I can't recommend Alusta Construction highly enough. We used Alusta to finish our basement, install hardwood flooring in our family room as well as build a bar. Everything looks amazing and we couldn't be happier. The owner was great to work with, honest, reliable and hardworking. We've worked with other construction companies in the past and they don't compare to Alusta! They even finished the job one week early.
