As first time home owners who have never done a home renovation project Mark and his team walked us through the process and did an outstanding job. When we first contacted Mark our vision for the house wasn't exactly clear, but with his help we were able to define the scope and set a path forward. Mark and his superintendent Scott always provided great communication and quality work. I would absolutely hire Mark again.

Comment from Mark Hammer Construction LTD.:
Thank you Stefan! It was a pleasure getting to know you and your family. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
I’ve waited a few months to post this review to avoid being reactionary. I hired Mark Hammer Construction to remodel my 40-year-old condo, including a full kitchen gut remodel, new flooring, new lighting, new trim and paint throughout, new tile and fixtures in two baths, and new fixtures in a powder room. I lived in the space during the nearly year-long process. I terminated the relationship a few months ago with the primary bathroom and primary bedroom not yet started.
During the 10 months when work was being done, clean up was a constant issue. I encountered piles of debris, fast food trash strewn throughout and found in obscure places like closets, paint spilled on new flooring and tools and materials left in pathways through my home on a daily basis. Requests to clean up daily were ignored. One night in mid-winter around 8 p.m., I came home and found my front door wide open, the storm door propped open, lights on and nobody inside. I don’t know how many hours my home had been left open to the weather and the world.
Much of the work itself was subpar, too. The project failed to pass inspection with the city. I paid over $16,000 for electrical work and have sparking wires in the kitchen which could easily cause a catastrophic fire. The GFCI outlets in the bathrooms were replaced with non-GFCI outlets. In addition, the terrible tile work in one bathroom continues to upset and enrage me when I see it, but the only solution is to tear it all out and start over which my budget won’t allow. It will take some time for me to feel safe and comfortable in my own home again after this ordeal.
I’ve hired another contractor to finish my project, repair and replace some of the work done, and get it to pass the city’s building inspection. The cost to repair, replace and meet code for the “completed” work will cost over $20,000. This amount does not include finishing two rooms and gutting and replacing the new tile in the “finished” bathroom.
I cannot recommend Mark Hammer Construction.

Comment from Mark Hammer Construction LTD.:
We can’t express how sorry we are about your disappointment. We remain willing and able to address any issues with the work we completed. We absolutely failed to communicate what it was going to truly be like for you to live within a construction project nor did we manage your expectations about what was possible with the budget we were held to. There is no adequate way to apologize for that shortcoming. The process of working on a 40-year-old condo with its inherent quirks and issues hidden behind the walls is also part of the process that we clearly failed to prepare you for. Your pictures are examples of this.
Had we been able to complete the project, all shortcomings in quality, like substandard tile, and function, like seeking out and correcting electrical issues, would have been rectified and completed with passing inspections. Since we were not allowed to complete the project, and the City requires work to be completed to pass inspection, you are correct that some of the final inspections were not passed. We began work 10-22 and did no work after 6-23. Inspections that did pass were, Rough electrical (phase 1) on 1-5-23, Framing/insulation/wallboard on 1-9-23, Final Electrical (phase 1) on 6-1-23 We had the City issue their stop work order 7-20-23
For those reading the reviews, I do believe a little background info is needed for clarification about the project. As is our standard practice for projects of this scope, you originally informed us that you were going to have the condo completely empty for us to work in excepting the master suite in which you were going to live. When we arrived to start work on the date agreed to, nothing had been moved or even packed up for removal. At this time, we should not have started work and re-evaluated the project. We did not, and that was the first failure on our part.
We began work, doing our best to work around your personal items eventually moving them around the project area multiple times so that we could continue working Taking time away from the tasks within the construction project itself contributed greatly to the overly long duration of the project. Most of these items you ultimately had us haul away as trash. We continued working in the areas we could clear out until you asked us to give you a bit of a break from construction prior to starting the master suite. At that time, we ceased work as requested, believing we would be returning to continue work on getting you the result you were expecting and hoping for. Had we known we would not be returning, we would have made sure to complete the phase 1 work to your satisfaction.
We did not hear from you until our superintendent stopped by to check in and noticed there were people working on the condo that were not our team. At that time, I reached out via phone and email, and you ultimately let me know you were moving on to another contractor. I was forced to have the City of Denver put a stop work order on the project until the permit could be reassigned. The communication loop clearly was broken by all parties in many places. I can only wish, in retrospect, that we had more conversations about expectations on both sides.

Thank you Mark, Scott and Dereck. You are a wonderful team and a pleasure to work with. Mark is the most ethical man I have ever met. He follows through on his promises. He gets the job done, the finished product is beautiful, and he does it all with a smile on his face. I can't wait for future projects.

Comment from Mark Hammer Construction LTD.:
Thank YOU Jen!! Your project was one of the most challenging and rewarding we have done. We love that we get to call you part of the family now.
We recently had the pleasure of working with Mark Hammer Construction who not only assisted us with obtaining city permits but also transformed our patio into a stunning dining room extension. From start to finish, their professionalism, expertise, and attention to detail were truly outstanding.
Once the permits were obtained, Mark's craftsmanship and creativity truly shined. They meticulously planned and executed the patio extension, resulting in a beautiful dining room that seamlessly blended with our home's existing architecture.
Throughout the project, communication was excellent. Mark and Reina kept us informed at every step, providing regular updates on progress and addressing any concerns or questions we had. They maintained a clean and organized worksite, minimizing any disruption to our daily routine.
Overall, we are thrilled with the results and couldn't be happier with the services provided by Mark Hammer's team. Their ability to transform our patio into a stunning dining room extension exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend them for any home improvement projects.
Thank you to the entire team for their exceptional workmanship and dedication to creating our dream space.

Overall we had a very positive experience with Mark and his team. Our project was finished on time and with minimal issues. Any issues we did have were corrected to our satisfaction. My kitchen turned out just as I had invisioned it. His projected estimates were right on and some things came in a little less. We appreciated his always getting back to us when we needed to address and issue. I felt Rayna, our project manager was there for us helping to move the project along. I would have no problem recommending Mark Hammer Construction to anyone who needs a remodel.

Mark and his crew are simply top-notch!
We hired Hammer Construction to do an extensive remodel of a 1951 mid-century home, while we moved into ta small portion of the home throughout the construction process. From the beginning, Mark spent the time upfront to prepare us for the process and always made himself available for questions, changes, and temporary moments of anxiety (which he coached us on right from the very start). He was very hands-on throughout the entire process on every detail.
Every single person on his crew were kind and trustworthy. We felt very comfortable with them in our home at all times without our supervision. We cannot overstate how much it meant to us that this was a team of wonderful people that at no time did we have to have any concern about being in our home.
We are proud to say that Mark and whole team became personal friends, the built the home of our dreams, and we are forever grateful!
Hammer Construction has our highest recommendations!

Mark and his company finished out basement which was about 900-1000 square feet. We added a bedroom, 3/4 bath with an exceptional shower, kitchette, custom floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and a min-split on the third floor bedroom. His company was extremely responsive and hired very good subcontractors. What they lacked in timeliness due to the pandemic, they made up for in craftsmanship. And most importantly they worked with us from beginning to end on design, review of work, changes and when we believed there was an issue, Mark and his folks fixed the problem without a lot of back and forth and always with a fair resolution. He, his employees and subcontractors were all very polite, detailed oriented and exceptional. We have received many compliments on the work they did and highly recommend his company.

This was a basement finish project in a townhome located in the City and County of Denver, approximately 750 square feet which included a living area, bedroom, 3/4 bath, two storage areas, a utility space and two closets. The project was completed during some of the most challenging conditions ever existing in the construction industry, including the pandemic, labor shortages, and fluctuating material availability and pricing. The project was well-managed and coordinated by Rayna and included work performed by both company employed personnel and a variety of subcontractors. The work was completed with minimal intrusion for us and our neighbors, with our townhome being the middle unit of five. Access to the basement for material delivery and construction personnel was available through both a removable conforming basement window and through the townhome living area when necessary. Communication is key in projects such as these and we always knew when the subs were coming and what part of the project would be completed at a given time. We provided access at times, and there was a lockbox available when we were away to keep the workflow steady. The company had previously completed our next door neighbor's basement project and came highly recommended. We strongly recommend the company and would suggest to any homeowner contemplating such a project that the more flexible you are, the smoother your project will go.

Thank you so much for being a great client. We very much enjoyed your project!
It's been over a year since construction was completed. But it was only after I inquired that I found out that no permits were pulled(even though I paid for the work to be permitted). Since Mark is no longer responding to my emails (4 months since my last email to him) I have been forced to take over the permitting process. Right now I have no way of knowing if what his subs did will even pass inspection.

Comment from Mark Hammer Construction LTD.:
I am so sorry!! I don't see any communication from you in past months. We are happy to resolve this ASAP! Denver, through COVID, has been exceptionally difficult to communicate with. We submitted all the documents and went back and forth with Denver multiple times. All work was inspected by our structural engineer, which is how Denver prefers to handle projects like yours. (structural reinforcement of foundations) I thought our team had this in hand. You have my most sincere apologies that this obviously fell through the cracks. I've tried to call, text and email you with no response about how you'd like to proceed.
Hammer Construction was Competent,
They were pleasant to work with, responsive to questions, helpful with suggested modifications. I would recommend them for your next renovation.

We are so pleased with our newly remodeled home. The workmanship was excellent and Marc always kept us informed each step of the way. He was always prompt in responding to our questions and every road bump we hit, Marc took care of. The finished product turned out better than expected.

We are so very happy you are pleased with the project!
As an architect I am familiar with the intrusions of construction. For a new apartment (ADU - Accessory Dwelling Unit) within the basement of my home I hired Hammer Construction, as they'd helped several of my clients bring their projects to reality. Mark was thorough and courteous and always available by phone to answer my questions. Neither did he mind my frequent visits downstairs with questions and discussions about code compliance, fire walls, and when tasks were to happen. Monthly invoices were clear and complete. And his subcontractors were of exceptional quality, easy to talk to, and serious about their work. They even liked my rowdy dogs! The project went slightly longer than expected, due to my adds, but now I have a beautiful build-out generating income for our household.

True professional all the way, from initial concept, changes, demolition and installation. All personal knew: what to do, how to do it and when to do it. Care and foresite was taken at all times. Work was completed in a very reasonable time, job site was kept clean. They were there on time every time or I was informed before they were supposed to be there. Work involved: removing tub, shower, vanity and floor in master bathroom and replacing with larger shower with seat, installing custom vanity with countertop, sink and fixtures, installing large custom vanity and installing travertine floor. Main bathroom had the vanity removed and a custom vanity with countertop, sink and fixtures, and installing a travertine floor. Utility room had the floor removed and a travertine floor installed. Nice work. Bottom line: Would I hire them again? YES!!

We hired Mark Hammer Construction to put in a master bedroom/bath on our main floor. They took out two bedrooms, a bathroom and half of a hallway, replacing them with a circular bedroom/bath/ walk-in closet. The result is breathtaking! We emerged from our basement and now live on the main floor. Mark and his associates are very professional and reliable. You will be pleased with their work, should you decide to go with them.

Thank you so much Shirley! We very much enjoyed working with you and Mike on your dream master suite!
Mark and Scott were great at helping us decide what to do and what not to do. We have a champagne taste on a beer budget! I am sure we were fairly challenging to deal with and they did it beautifully. The previous shape of our space was in desperate need of help. The electrical, mechanical and plumbing all needed to be redone because the home was built in 1911, it was a complete gut job.

In the Fall of 2018, we began a kitchen remodel with Mark Hammer. We found him to be very knowledgeable and willing to work within our budget. Scott was the superintendent of our job and was responsible for the day to day operations. As with any construction project, there were a couple of delays due to the work of subcontractors. Mark took responsibility for corrections that needed to be made and ensured that things were done right! That is probably the greatest compliment we could give him!

I’m a semi retired physician with 35 years of buying, selling and remodeling houses. I’ve worked with four different contractors in four different states. I bought a house in Broomfield that had a 2500 sq ft walkout basement. I interviewed and got quotes from six contractors. I selected Mark Hammer Construction based on the plan he created Mark’s professional and friendly demeanor as well as his competitive price. He has really exceptional people working with him. He turned my basement into a beautiful space in the time he originally planned.I will work with him again if the need ever arises..

Mark and his team were very professional and I enjoyed working with them all. We live in a 2,300 sq feet ranch home and we literally touched each room one way or another. We knocked down walls, moved walls, and added a small addition. In addition, we remodeled the kitchen and both bathrooms. Mark and his team were great listeners and very patiently addressed all of our questions throughout the process. The process was long and looking at the results, we would do it all over again!
