I’m Heather Schlender, a licensed architect serving homeowners in western North Carolina and the upstate of South Carolina. I breathe new life into old homes and design new homes with an old soul. I started Heather Schlender, Architect in 2019 with one clear goal: make great residential design accessible to real people with real lives. I’m not here to design a showcase. I’m here to help your home tell your family’s story. My approach is hands-on and collaborative. I listen first, design second, and stay with you through the process from first sketch to finished build. Over 75% of my work comes from referrals — which tells me the approach is working. I offer a range of services to meet clients where they are. Renovation services include Design Consultations ($200-$400), Floor Plan Analysis ($2,600–$3,600, provides a master plan to guide future renovation work), and Full Renovation Design ($4,000-$8,000 based on scope). Design services for a new home design include Plan Modifications (hourly, making changes to purchased house plans), Semi-Custom ($8,000-$10,000) and Custom ($15,000+) Design.
