You see that black & white tile bathroom? Or the photo of the slate gray home exterior? That's my house, newly remodeled by HSM. While the photos may look pretty, our experience with them was an absolute nightmare (and that's an understatement). Please for the love - run a background check on your contractors and don't learn lessons the hard way like we did. Or if you really feel compelled to hire them - in my opinion, you should have an attorney on stand by. We hired Delayne Barber and Paul initially because they were charming, personable, responsive, and offered the lowest price. Here is a rundown of the events that followed - if you want more details, message me. -7 days into the project, they demolished our roof as planned, left it wide open to the elements for days, and during that time let a severe thunderstorm drop nearly a half inch of rain inside my home. - When asked about our timeline after a lack of communication, he told me that he pushed the schedule back 8 weeks to anger my husband. He later denied ever saying this to me. I had to start recording our calls at that point. - He asked how much money we had in our contingency, and then sent us a bill for all but $700 of it for extra "necessary" work. - Consistent lack of communication. When pushed for updates, he called me a problem customer. - Had men on the crew just passing through town - one brought his girlfriend to hangout at the house (my husband met her). Another one brought their child. - Replaced the subfloor in the areas that were rained on without getting a change order first - then tried to hold the job hostage until I paid him $2,500 for the work. I had to hire an attorney at this point. - At the end of the project things were very tense, and Delayne was angry so he told all of his subcontractors not to schedule our final inspections so that we could move back in, until we paid him. We ended up having to work with the inspectors and the city ourselves to get approval. This admission was caught on our home video camera, and confirmed by two of the subcontractors, and the contact at the city. -Incorrectly installed my siding and azek trim. Things are now separating and buckling. So many more things happened, but I have a character limit so I'll leave it at that. In my opinion, I'd stay far, far away from this company and Delayne. Save yourself the massive headache.

I worked with Paul and Delayne three years ago, and they help me finish up a Pottery studio. This project involved replacing all the doors in our house and installing a shiplap ceiling in the great room. I cannot recommend them highly enough! They are hard-working professionals they communicate what’s going on at all times, charge a very reasonable price, and could not be friendlier or more delightful to work with. You can keep shopping around, but you will not find a higher quality of professionalism, then this company offers.

Just finished my 2nd story deck that included gorgeous french doors. I have only positive things to say about the service and quality I received. Communication was constant and the crew worked harder and paid attention to the largest to smallest details more than I've ever seen from any contractor I have ever worked with. I will use them again, and I highly recommend this company.

Homeowner Services Of Michigan did a quality job constructing a front porch for me. The workmanship was excellent the administrative and work crew were accommodating, considerate and respectful, and the outcome was successful. I have a beautiful front porch!

This is the second time we've used HSM to address a list of seasonal maintenance issues. The process started with a site survey by Delayne Barber, the owner. He reviewed the list of problems, suggested ways to fix them, and worked with us to choose the best approach. Next, HSM sent us a proposal with a checklist of action items and cost to accomplish them. The work crew showed up promptly. They were knowledgeable, hardworking, and fastidious in their cleanup after the job was done. We reviewed the checklist afterwards to ensure all the work was accomplished to our satisfaction. The whole process is well planned and done properly. Delayne followed up to make sure that we were pleased with the work.

We could not be happier with the performance, price and attention to detail of Paul and Delayne at Homeowner Services of Michigan. We came to HSM with a lengthy list of interior and exterior improvement projects for our home in Chelsea, MI. The first phase took care of the exterior. HSM cleaned, repaired weather damage and painted the exteriors of the house and barn, renovated the roofs, rebuilt and painted the deck, stairs and landings, renovated the gutters and cleaned up the overgrown trees and shrubbery. HSM had multiple teams of contractors working simultaneously on these projects. Everything was coordinated perfectly, and the workmanship was superior. We will be proceeding with the interior projects over the winter months. We will definitely be working with HSM for the "Phase 2" interior projects as well. I am happy to provide a positive reference.
