A business associate, with a newly remodeled beachfront condo in Malibu, introduced us to Loren and Danna with a recommendation to use them to remodel our beachfront condo in Redondo Beach. We were so happy with their work on our condo, we also hired them to help us refit our yacht . My husband and I subsequently recommended them to another couple with a large home on a cliffside overlooking the ocean in Redondo Beach. We did our home remodel over several years working with HVJ. As a result, we could make changes, major and minor, as needed and as we could afford it, and the entire house looks thoughtfully and seamlessly designed. They made making design decisions a breeze because I knew I could trust their choices.

I did a remodel project with Loren Judaken of HVJ Design in 2013 and have the highest praise for her professionalism, knowledge and work quality. Loren updated my home and completely redesigned a room maximizing the space to create a beautiful and functional office. She executed the plans and oversaw the production and installation of custom cabinets and furniture. The vision and aesthetic she brought to the project afforded me the highest degree of satisfaction and her attention to every aspect of the project insured that no detail was left incomplete. Loren was responsive to and available for my needs during the project and the staff at HVJ was always efficient and provided excellent support. I have worked with Loren and Danna for the last 25 years. They and their team are a pleasure to work with. They have a great design aesthetic, and their attention to detail is as best as you can get. I have always found the team to be very creative in coming up with solutions where existing construction may be an issue. For example, a bedroom may have walls of glass, and the client wants the room to be completely room-darkened. This is their strength. I would highly recommend them.

Over the past two decades I have worked with Loren and Danna as the general contractor on several of their projects and in every instance it has been both a positive and enjoyable experience. HVJ is a company that goes to great lengths to ensure that both the plans and the design details are thoroughly developed and annotated, which makes the implementation in the field that much easier. The drawings generated by their studio are clear, concise, detailed and well documented. When shop drawings generated by the sub contractors are submitted for review and approval, their comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the drawings, details and the materials used, goes well beyond that of most designers. The comments and collaboration they incorporate into the responses are positive, constructive and usually result in a refined and superior end product. The selection and specification of materials to be used on a project are well researched, of the highest quality and always communicated in a clear and precise format, which makes ordering the materials a straightforward task. Whenever I have had to communicate with the Danna, Loren or the staff in the office for clarifications or request additional information, the response is informative and forthcoming. One of the great joys of working with HVJ occurs at the culmination of the project. When all the furniture is installed, the artwork hung, accessories in place, the library filled with the owners collections, the flowers having been thoughtfully placed and the house, quiet after a frenetic construction period. In these quiet moments, it is apparent that the ability to conceptualize, envision and implement their creative designs, is the hallmark of this exceptional design company.
