Greenwise Organic Lawn Care and Landscape Design

We could not have been more pleased with both Marc's design and the gardeners' work. Lupe and his son, along with two additional helpers, all relatively new to Greenwise, did a phenomenal installing our garden, taking care of little details we had not gotten to, transplanting even some plants for us, and ultimately performing very heavy work on a hot and muggy day in record time. They really knew plants, far better than many we have had before. In addition, Marc created a wonderful design that fulfilled a vision we had had but had not been able to realize. His creativity, quick understanding of our wishes, and warmth made him a great partner in installing beauty that should last some time. Everyone we have met from Greenwise has had not only high professional standards but great warmth and responsiveness. We could not be happier with the final results and the entire process.

I have been a homeowner for almost 40 years and found it's always best practice to get three estimates on any large project. When Marc from Greenwise came out to give me an estimate he was so much more thorough and knowledgeable that I immediately thought there's no way I'm going to be able to afford them. When the estimate was within $100 of the other estimate (the third landscaper never showed) I could not have been more delighted. For one thing, Marc is not only one of the nicest people I have met since moving to Chicago, I think he's one of the nicest people I've ever met. He came out in the morning that the crew arrived and verified everything I wanted. He was even able to troubleshoot an issue we had no idea was lurking underground. We could not be more delighted with the work they did. Our yard is absolutely gorgeous and so much nicer than we ever anticipated. Their landscapers are incredibly hard working, pleasant, and do not cut corners. They left the area absolutely pristine. Heather in their office was equally as wonderful. Overall I would say that Greenwise is reliable, responsive, and responsible. You can't ask for more than that.

The staff at Greenwise is most professional and exceeded my every expectation. They are pleasant to deal with, and offer affordable services as originally agreed upon in the project outline, and all work was completed within a timely manner. I will not hesitate to use them again. In fact, I am already working with Heather and Mark on phase two of our project.

The front yard of our newly purchased home had been long neglected. Overgrown junipers hid the house and we had no need for the little patch of lawn to maintain where we could have decorative perennials and flower beds. We decided it was time to start fresh, and we chose Greenwise because we had seen examples of their work and agree with their environmental philosophy. We worked with Sandro at Greenwise to develop concepts. My spouse and I are both designers, so we had lots of ideas, but we are not landscape experts. Sandro gathered our thoughts, helped us understand what was practical for our site and what was not, and presented us with a plan that redefined the entry of our house, removed troublesome plant materials, and gave our property a unique look that suits the particular aesthetic of our midcentury home. After some tweaking to meet our target budget, Greenwise implemented the plan. The result has garnered nothing but compliments. We are very happy with our new yard, and the process was smooth (other than a permitting delay — not Greenwise’s fault, though Sandro went to heroic lengths to track and expedite the progress of our permit through the bureaucracy) and satisfying. A few changes along the way were taken in stride, and we’ve already had Greenwise back for some additional work. They are efficient, collaborative, and attentive. Right now there is snow on the ground, but we can hardly wait for spring to watch our landscape grow and mature. We heartily recommend Greenwise.

The crew for Greenwise did an amazing job. I was so overwhelmed on how wonderful my project looked when finished. My neighbor also thinks they did a wonderful job and will be calling Greenwise to do work in their yard in the very near future. Thank you so much for a job well done, I just love!

Marc came out to talk to me about numerous problems we were having with our lawn. In the end, we decided to work on one issue at a time and his team always comes, promptly, cleans up, and leaves a note. I love that his products are 100% kid, animal, and earth friendly. Always responsive when I have a question, I'd like to use them more.

We have worked with Greenwise since almost day one. I think we are client #2. That should say something right there. They are always friendly, professional, courteous, and clean. They manage our weekly lawn care...it looks great, and it's natural. They maintain our shrubs...everyone on the horticultural staff is skilled and knowledgeable about pruning. Marc has worked with me many times to creatively assess and solve drainage issues. Top marks....a solid company with people who care about what they do.

We have been using Greenwise for seasonal organic fertilization for 3 years. They are polite and timely and answer questions/concerns promptly. Our lawn looks beautiful and our family enjoys hanging out there without worry about pesticides. This past summer we needed a consult for a section of our lawn that needed reseeding and flower beds that were lacking variety. Jess Goehler consulted with me, had great ideas for new plants and split some of the plants that were overgrown in other areas of the yard to use in this bed. She also took the time to teach me about plant/shrub care and recommended future "teaching" sessions so that I could care for the plants/shrubs as the seasons changed.

Where do I begin with these guys? They are simply fantastic. Tim did our design, made recommendations on what to put where (and he was right) and our yard/patio couldn't look better. The workers were very courteous and helpful, and even had a few suggestions themselves. The icing on the cake was when Marc (the owner) stopped by to make sure we were satisfied with the projects. Greenwise is an outstanding company with outstanding employees. Highly recommend giving them a call.

We needed to regrade our backyard to solve drainage issues, as well as desired to pursue replacing our walkway and patio with permeable Unilock pavers. Our final project included removal of a sunken walkway and patio, regrading of an entire backyard, and installation of a walkway and patio of permeable Unilock pavers as well as laying of sod. Greenwise was the first and last call we made. I cannot say enough about this company. From the beginning, professionalism and customer service shone through. Marc Wise arrived promptly and took the time to listen to our needs. He brainstormed solutions to our problem, sourced materials we could afford that still met our needs, and kept us well updated with options and how those options changed the overall project and budget. When we said we needed to scale it back as we had reached our budget maximum, we were not pressured; rather, Marc listened and adjusted. We have had a lot of work on our home in the recent years to include masonry, roofing and plumbing - this was THE most respectful group of professionals we have had at our home. They respected our space and our family, and demonstrated a solid work ethic. This crew spent three days with us and genuinely seemed to enjoy their work. Not only was all this amazing, but the social consciousness of this company is unparalleled. I would recommend Greenwise to anyone seeking hard/landscape work. We will be welcoming them back for more in the future.

Seriously the best company ever. We would recommend everyone to Greenwise! Sustainable, beautiful, excellent communication and furthermore they actually care!!! Love our new yard and can't wait to do more work with them!!! We had multiple people come out to bid to help with drainage and grass in our backyard. So many of them tried to bandaid our issue and still cost a fortune. Marc came out with so much experience about the issues and knowledge beyond anyone else about local and sustainable plants to help us. Not to mention, we gave him a budget and he stuck to it. No one else will compare to greenwise. Their workers are the sweetest and nicest people, I have never seen anyone work as hard as they did. We couldn't grow grass for years... and after Marc's hard work we had seedlings popping like crazy after 2 weeks....

Greenwise redesigned and replaced our old brick patio with a lovely new uni lock patio and oversaw the replacement of our cement basement steps. They were professional, timely, contentious, and neat. We were delighted with the work and our new stairs and patio.
