Kansas State University’s Interior Architecture & Product Design (IAPD) department is located in the College of Architecture, Planning and Design (APDesign) and has a 50-year history of providing an enriching educational experience in preparing graduates for a wide array of professional careers. IAPD creates a community of learning with a comprehensive and vibrant approach to design. The unique program, leading to the CIDA- and NASAD-accredited Master of Interior Architecture & Product Design, is ranked in the top 10 graduate programs in interior design in the country and #1 in the Midwest. IAPD intertwines three distinct areas of interior architecture, product design and furniture design into a strong program of study where innovation and the art of 'making' intersect, and where evidence-based design plays an increasingly important role in the education of students who have a passion for the power, impact, and value of design. IAPD graduates are grounded in an ability to approach design problems through multiple-scale lenses – from broad scope issues to finely refined details. Our graduates are sought out because of the excellent depth and breadth of their education; designing for an integrated user-centered whole comprised of varying scales from the interfaces and experiences intimately linked to the human touch points, to the interface between the human body and the near environment, to the design of places and spaces in the built and designed environment (and the products and building systems that materially comprise it).
