Finding a contractor seemed like a dauting task, but the moment I met with Somerset West, I knew I was in good hands. Matt and the team at Somerset West were absolutely fantastic. Matt helped us plan and execute a full kitchen/laundry room remodel as well as various improvements throughout our new home including demolition, lightings, painting, plumping, you name it! Matt and his team were friendly, communicative, professional and on top of everything we needed. Matt even took the time to answer our endless questions and address any concerns. Matt worked with us from concept through design and execution, and each step of the way, he actually listened to and cared about our input. He made my kitchen dreams come true (including fantastic hexagon backsplash tile) and was realistic and encouraging with our ideas. Matt is the most responsive and talented contractor that I have worked with, and his entire team worked round the clock to get us into the home as fast as they could. Matt, and the whole Somerset West team, and especially Gene and Jose were amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I just finished a kitchen and laundry room remodel with Somerset West and am thrilled with the results. I met with a few other companiess and chose Somerset West because, unlike the other companies, I could tell from talking to Matt that he was listening to me and was supportive of what I wanted to accomplish. That proved to be true as Matt went out of his way throughout the process to make sure I was happy with the results. He made many helpful design suggestions, without pressure, that really improved the outcome. Matt was also extremely responsive whenever I had questions. His team was friendly and performed very high quality work. Special thanks to Gene and Jose for all their excellent work. Jose deserves a medal for all the time he spent in my crawlspace and attic in 90+ degree heat while still being friendly and performing great work. The only part of the work that didn’t go as well I as would have liked was the schedule, as the project took twice as long as originally estimated. To be fair, part of that was due to some additional work we agreed to add on and it wasn’t helped by the delay of the county inspector. Overall it was a great experience working with Matt and Somerset West and the kitchen and laundry room turned out fantastic. Thank you, Matt!

We hired Somerset West to remodel our kitchen. We made the right choice. To keep costs down but without skimping on quality and style, we went with Ikea kitchen cabinet boxes with cabinet fronts by Semihandmade. As such, it was critical to find a contractor who had a lot of experience with this type of project. Matt came out for an initial consultation and provided a proposed design plus a written estimate and project timeline. We were impressed by his thoroughness and knowledge across all aspects of the project. Matt, Edan, and the Somerset West team handled the entire kitchen design. They completed the selection and ordering of the Ikea and Semihandmade parts needed. This is no easy feat if you’ve never done this before since you can easily forget to purchase needed items. Once all the materials were purchased and delivered, Matt and team went to work immediately. Somerset West managed all stages of the project from demolition, plumbing, electricity, flooring, countertop installation, cabinet assembly and carpentry, and painting. We found the entire team to be professional and skilled. Communication with Matt and the team was excellent. Matt kept us updated on the schedule, let us know if we needed to purchase anything for the next phase, and informed us of any change orders. There were unforeseen additional costs once the walls were opened with the wiring needing to be replaced, but not because of poor planning by Somerset West. Matt went above and beyond by providing good recommendations for tile vendors, suggesting features to uplevel the look of the kitchen without pressure, and handling the ordering and pick up of Ikea parts that weren’t readily available. He even picked up a microwave to replace our broken one when we couldn’t do it ourselves. Our kitchen is worlds better than it was and the Somerset West team is to thank for a relatively smooth process. We highly recommend Matt, Edan, and the rest of the Somerset West team for their home remodeling services.

Matt and his team built my dream house! The whole experience has been wonderful. This is my first home and first remodel, I was completely clueless and nervous about the whole process. Matt was really great about explaining everything to me, in detail :), always making sure I was comfortable and confident in the millions of decisions that had to be made. Matt also communicates, a lot. So you will always know where things stand. He also has a great eye and a keen sense of what the customer wants and what is practical. My advice, is to listen to Matt, he is usually right :) Jose, the electrician, is amazing, and everyone else that worked on the house has always been so kind and respectful. Overall I could not be happier with the partnership and the end product is exactly what I wanted. I would use Somerset West again, no question. The project was a complete remodel, plus additions and floor plan design, and complete exterior work including concrete and tree removals.

Somerset remodeled our small bathroom, and it looks amazing! They take pride in every aspect of the work and it shows. They were very reliable and kept to the schedule, showed up when they said they would and finished on time. Highly recommend!

Somerset West re-did my kitchen, re-floored my house, replaced lighting and did some odds and ends. They did a great job. The workers who did the work itself were professional and experienced. Matt provided ongoing guidance and help making choices, including recommending cost effective suppliers. Importantly, the results are really well done and do not look cheap, hurried or shoddy. When underlying issues were discovered, they were addressed and not "hidden." So, we had to install a vent because (against code) the former owners of the house had not done so (which was the reason my fire alarms had previously gone off frequently when I cooked). I am very happy with the work done. Matt is a great asset.

We had water damage from a kitchen sink leak that ruined our floors in the kitchen and dining room. Unfortunately, the floors have been discontinued so we had to decide on another replacement option. We called Somerset after receiving a referral from 2 of my co-workers who used them for their full home remodel. Our PM was Matan and he was very responsive throughout the whole process. He was also helpful when it came to design decisions for the floor replacement (he has a good eye!). He was never pushy but we trusted his opinion since he does this everyday. No matter the request, he was on top of it with a solution or an answer. It is hard to find contractors who are honest and reasonable so I will definitely work with Somerset again for any other remodeling I may need to do.

We used them to finish our basement, rewire our electrical, and install new cabinets and built-ins. Matt and the crew were extremely professional, communicative, and honest. They made sure we were satisfied each step of the way. Would definitely use again and recommend to anyone. These guys can get it done!

Amazing work. They designed and remodeled our historic craftsman and did a beautiful and professional job. Matt and Edan were a pleasure to work with from the designing to the finishing touches. While keeping the integrity of the old house, they gave the inside a beautiful new flow: brand new bathrooms, bright and open common space, a gorgeous new kitchen, new oak floors, the whole thing. They were a pleasure to work with throughout. We love our new house -- so much that we recently went back and hired them to do work on our exterior, including repainting and building new garden gates and porch. I would recommend them wholeheartedly and we hope to work with them again! You will be very happy with their work.

Here's how most contracted home renovations wrap up: you, the homeowner, are sick as hell of dealing with the contractor. No matter how fine their work may be, you just want it to be finished and to never deal with them again. It seems like it's an unwritten rule of the work. So was not the case with Somerset West. For our kitchen renovation, they offered a fair price and got us an incredible product that my wife routinely declares her love for. The schedule was reasonable, and though struck with delays (by no fault of theirs), and additional costs (usually due to our tastes), one of their single greatest strengths was keeping our eyes on the prize. Edan was our main point of contact, and keeping us focused on the final product was a skill he excelled at, even above his formidable design, style, and business sense. No matter the delays or costs, he was there to remind us that we absolutely had to be happy with the product, and if we weren't, he'd help ensure we were. Likewise, Matt was the main hands-on on-site supervisor, and he was a constant presence throughout the project. There were few decisions during construction that Matt was not a part of crafting, and no issues where he could not present a solution. Together they kept the lines of communication open and clear, routinely checked in with us on progress, timeline, and budget, and ultimately they and their crew delivered a quality product I'm compelled to show off to everyone who walks in the door. So if in the case of most renovations, the norm is the strong desire to run as far from your contractor and as fast as you can, I can offer only one summation: I can't wait to hire Somerset West for our next project.
