I did a lot of research and interviewed several companies looking for the right one to remodel our bathrooms to include universal design. As we age, I want our home to be safe for us, and functional regardless of age or ability, so we won't need to leave it. I had priorities that were non-negotiable. As all of my family are immunocompromised or at risk, everyone who comes in our home must be masked at all times. I wanted the lowest maintenance materials and design possible, as I am beyond done with cleaning grout. I was surprised that those two things were too much to ask for some companies I spoke with. Mike and Kelly worked with us on every bit of it, and made sure we were happy with every aspect, from the big issues like layout of the bathrooms, to the fidgety stuff like fixtures and colors. Scott and his team were fabulous. They were very respectful, and wore a mask indoors 100% of the time, so we felt safe with them. They made sure to get our input so that everything from grab bars to sink and mirror placement were just right. Every time an issue came up, which is inevitable in an old house, they solved it with zero fuss. They were careful around the basement waterproofing we had just had done. They paid attention to every detail. They made sure to clean up every day before they left, and hauled away the trash. Mike and Scott and Kelly all communicated in a timely manner, and always kept us up to date on expectations - whether it was ETA on delivery of materials or the timeline of work. We could not be happier with their work! I recommend them wholeheartedly, with NO reservations. We would absolutely hire them again, and will once we are ready to redo the kitchen.

Over 15 years ago Devol Design remodeled our house in Anderson Township. We converted a garage into a kitchen- dining room and added a new stair tower. The house was transformed from a cramped, compartmentalized 1970 transitional to a modern, open and spacious space with sight lines to multiple rooms from every room. The remodel has aged well! A testament to the quality of the workmanship. Devol was very conscientious about communicating expectations and ensuring I was comfortable during this major overall. 15 years later and I am stilled thrilled by the results. My only regret was not hiring Devol sooner, so that I would have had more years of truly enjoying my home.

DeVol Design.Build.Remodel has always performed extremely well for us. We have now used them on three separate projects. They exceeded our expectations during the finishing of our lower level, taking it from bare concrete to a very pleasant, comfortable living space. This included excavating and giving us a walk-out to our backyard! The second project was the remodeling of our vintage 1980s master bath, stripping it down to the studs and giving us a much more functional, beautiful, up-to-date bathroom space and walk-in closet. They then did a superb job on the complete remodel of our smaller, dated hall bath. This bathroom now looks fresh and new! Jeff and his assistants are professional, personable, prompt and competent in all respects, as are the subcontractors and vendors who work with them. We were always kept informed on what would be happening from day-to-day. They always cleaned up the space at the end of each work day. Most importantly, they deliver what they promise! Jeff and his crew completely remodeled our kitchen from floor to ceiling. He assisted in the design and offered good suggestions and alternate ways of doing things. He stayed close to the written schedule. His attention to detail was great. We are very happy with the results and love our new kitchen!

It’s such a pleasure to tell you about my experience with DeVol: Design-Build-Remodel. I was fortunate that friends of mine had used DeVol to do remodeling in their home. I had seen the quality of workmanship and heard the glowing report of how everything went so I didn’t hesitate to call Jeff DeVol when it came to remodeling my main bathroom. From the first consultation to the final inspection, I could not have asked for more. Jeff is terrific at guiding you through the process of determining exactly what you want done and making a detailed plan. Then his team goes to work making it happen. Jeff or his project manager communicate with you continuously throughout the process. You are always aware of what the next step is and when it will be happening. Jeff has assembled a quality team. Every person who came to work at my house was professional, courteous and did high quality work. Each went above and beyond what you would normally expect. They were trustworthy and very careful to keep everything protected. I never had a worry. As a matter of fact, I was so comfortable with Jeff and his team that I referred them to my 86 year old mother. Jeff is an expert on aging in place and was able to make suggestions to help her live safer in her home. He was so good at explaining things to her and answering all of her questions/concerns, she agreed to let them take the tub out of her master bath and put in a walk-in-shower. She was apprehensive at first but by the end of the first day she was so impressed with how careful and neat they were she started looking forward to seeing them and the progress that would occur each day. Before I knew it, she had agreed to have them move her laundry to the main floor, too. She loves the knew shower and laundry, and I’ll always be grateful to Jeff and his team for making my mom’s home safer for her. Jeff DeVol and his team are good people. They do outstanding work. I couldn’t be happier with my new bathroom and the projects DeVol did for my mom. I look forward to calling Jeff DeVol for all of my future designing and remodeling needs.

I have work with DeVol Design and Build on two major and several small projects and fixes. The first project was a complete gut of the kitchen and dining room. This project involved an architect and structural engineer, all major systems (heating, electrical, plumbing) and new floors, walls, changing doors, brick work, welding,…..you get the idea. The first contactor to look at the project was arrogant and talked to the architect not the owner – next! Jeff and his team listened to me and my needs and wants. I did not look for the third bid. I had very specific ideas about the material for the counter tops and cabinets and floors, but appliances and colors and tile were beyond my limited male brain. The beauty of DeVol was that they have a wonderful design specialist that patiently and quietly helped me fill in all of the needed design gaps by listening when needed and suggesting when asked. Between the design aspects and the construction questions I never heard “No.” Working together we resolved every expected and unexpected issue. Hopefully you can see the pictures. The space is gorgeous! The second major project was a complete redesign of the family room that involved jackhammering out the floor and removing all walls and the ceiling. This time I simply called DeVol, no additional bids needed this time. Again, this project was complicated with structural analysis, multiple sub contractors and some novel and interesting answers to some unique questions. The three most exciting features for me are: the recycled ceiling beams, the radiant heat poured concrete floor and the fabulous, custom barn door the greatly enlarged entrance. Again, I hope you can see the pictures! Enough stories. Pros: 1. Careful documentation and communication. Project notebook and the mailbox for communication was perfect. 2. On-site project lead. The same person there every day to oversee every aspect of the project was priceless. Dave is more than competent in his own right but we talked either face to face or over the phone everyday about the progress of the project. One could not ask for a more responsive system. 3. Design support. Allyson’s contribution, especially to the kitchen project was invaluable. No client knows everything about everything and having the design input available is one of the strengths of DeVol that sets them apart. 4. Finances. The projects were on budget or we agreed to the variances. We discussed additions or changes ahead of time and most of the time additional expenses were my personal preferences. 5. Timing. Appropriate communication ensured that both major projects were on target or we all understood changes that were needed. Cons: Actually there none! I recommend DeVol Design-Build-Remodel, LLC. frequently and keep several of their card on my refrigerator for when friends ask “Who did the work!”

We purchased a 1957 ranch house to accommodate the current and future needs of our 14 year-old daughter with Spina Bifida. She currently walks with orthotics, but will likely progress to using a wheelchair as she grows and wants to keep up with her peers. We gutted 3 bathrooms (on slab), rerouting plumbing in 2 and creating one accessible bath. Jeff DeVol is an aging in place specialist and helped us design an open shower with a linear drain and added blocking in the walls for additional grab bars in the future. We also widened openings, installed tile flooring, and removed some closets for a more open floor plan. Adding a ventless fireplace and converting a third garage bay to a weight room allowed the home to better meet our family's needs. DeVol's team was competent and courteous. The arrived on time and consulted us on every change that occurred in the field. We ended up with only a 1% cost overage in change orders, one item a lighting change at our request.
