ABOUT: Jess Pedersen is the Innovative Alpine Modern Architect you seek for your custom Colorado home. Jess was born and raised in the Roaring Fork Valley and is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design with bachelor’s degrees in both Architecture and Fine Arts. Jess is a fully licensed architect in the state of Colorado, creating beautiful, functional residential architectural designs in Utah and Texas as well. TEAM APPROACH: As a small firm, the approach of Jess's practice is to work directly with the client’s site, program, and budget; all elements involving teamwork to create a unique solution. One of the most important factors in the design phase of any project is the relationship between the architect and the client. The multi-disciplined knowledge the architect must listen, understand and nourish the client’s needs and vice versa in order to translate into the final design. This ideally will make the difference between any house, anywhere, and your home in its special place and with its personal touch. The most complex projects are simplified by the teamwork of the client, the contractor, and the architect. Working together on an agreed series of design decisions, staying on a timeline, and responding quickly to questions or problems will make the design process efficient and enjoyable. Working in combination, we can easily combine your needs with the site and its unique properties. DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: Traditional architecture was generated in response to the climatic and cultural influences of the region. It is felt that it is the architect’s role to acknowledge the characteristics of the site and region with the client's wishes and requirements to generate the building design. It is my duty to challenge and respect the preconceived definition of mountain architecture. New technologies and lifestyles merge with rural myth and tradition to bring a “timeless architecture,” a hybrid of indigenous and contemporary elements to meet the client’s needs.
