We cannot say enough kind words about Andover Landscape and Design and what a pleasure it was to work with them. Russell, John and team are true professionals. We did a major redesign to our property including installing a new bluestone patio, fencing, beds and overhauling plantings. The landscape design that Russell originally shared with us had great vision that the team executed on deftly. Russell and John offered great perspective on different decision points along the way and there was no stress involved - they made things easy for us. Now our sleepy yard has been transformed into a retreat the our family gets to enjoy each day. I would highly recommend anyone looking to embark on a landscape project seek them out. Not only did they transform our yard into something beautiful, but we found working with them straightforward and collaborative from the design through the final tweaks. We had a graduation party for our son that put a hard deadline in place and even with bad weather and events beyond their control, they met the deadline and we could not have been more pleased. We worked with Andover Landscape and Design to significantly redesign our landscaping around our home. We rebuilt a failing retaining wall, leveled a large section of our back yard, regraded and paved our driveway, installed a new patio with firepit and redid plantings throughout the property. While we had an idea of what we wanted, Russell used his design skills to present us with plans that creatively pushed our thinking and took into account long-term plans, and John was a strong project manager to get things done and done well, even when there were elements that became more complicated than originally expected, as happens with any project. We also appreciated the level of followup the next spring to make sure that plantings and fixtures had made it through the winter. The whole project is still growing in - but it's been a great looking first summer.

Russell and John are an excellent team! Russell's designs are elegant and modern. Our challenging sloped lot needed a front walkway that would complement the house. We love the design that Russell developed, and he and John worked with us to scale it to our budget. John and his crew were easy to work with when it came time for installation. The work is top quality, we're happy with the end result, and the compliments keep rolling in.

The team at Andover Landscape Design and Construction were amazing from the start. They are professional, courteous and fair on pricing. It meant a lot to my partner and I that we were able to accomplish what we wanted while staying in our budget. Russell is an extremely talented architect and demonstrated this when he took his time drawing several sketches to help us envision our plan. All of our questions were answered without any sense of urgency or pressure. Once a decision was made it was easy from there- Russell linked up with his team and before you know it our dream backyard was underway. John who is the general contractor and a great guy- ensured all details were carried out in a timely manner. The crew was always on time, worked long hours, pleasant and very clean. The crew cleaned up after each day was done. Our backyard project included leveling out an acre of land, taking down two trees, laying down sod and reseeding, excavating 50 yrs of concrete which served as a patio, gardening, pavers around our pool/new patio, irrigation system and extending our deck- all of which was done in a two week time frame just in time before our annual Fourth of July cookout. It was impressive and appreciated that the project was completed before the holiday as requested. The team is incredibly hard working and go above and beyond your wishes. Both John (GC) and Russell (architect) are readily available and easy to get in touch with. I highly recommend this company. We love our new backyard and have received many compliments. I would absolutely hire them again as they are honest, fair, proficient, skilled and masterly at their craft.

I am absolutely loving the results of my backyard project, which included a new patio and in-ground spa installation with surrounding deck area. Andover Landscape does high quality, beautiful work. I made very few decisions and left the design in their hands. I was never disappointed. These guys are true professionals. Both John and Russell were a pleasure to work with and were highly attentive to the job through to completion. They made small tweaks along the way (e.g adding another tree, more plantings) and the total cost still came very close to the original quoted amount. I look forward to working with them on the additional phases of the project that Russell has designed.

We hired Andover Landscape to help us design a new backyard with a pool. With their vision and experience they transformed our plain backyard into a spa like setting that has exceeded our expectations. I can absolutely recommend Russell Stott and John Nardoza. They were available and accessible throughout project. Russell is a talented designer and John and the construction team are equally as talented, thorough and professional.

John and Russell were phenomenal and went way above and beyond our expectations. I cannot speak highly enough of them or their work. Our goal was to put an in-ground pool in our backyard, and eventually to have a pool house, garden and a firepit area. This was complicated by our property being bounded on two sides by conservation land, having 100- and 500-year floodplains cut through our property, and our backyard being heavily sloped. We started planning the project with them around the end of the year, broke ground in early April, and completed it in July. Russell came up with a beautiful design that fit a large pool pretty much in the only way it possibly could giving the conservation/floodplain/property-line offsets, while also including a great firepit area and leaving room for a garden later on. His plan made a small but significant change to our deck layout that perfectly worked with the new pool design. John handles everything else soup-to-nuts and is just amazing to work with. We gave him our budget and told him we really couldn't go over it, and he managed to work in FAR more than we thought possible, making excellent recommendations on tradeoffs to stay within our budget while still getting excellent quality. One of the best things, the quote he gave us did not change by a penny -- any surprises that came up (and there were a couple though they were not his fault) he ate the cost with zero complaint. The project included: - Endless consultation, answering every question I had (and I had a lot) and being willing to talk through any concern I had. Truly excellent communication. Being on site constantly to check things out and make sure people were doing things the right way. And all in all just a friendly, helpful, trustworthy guy and great to work with. - Great knowledge of specifically doing landscape construction in Andover. He worked with the conservation commission and attended their meetings with me to get the green light for the project. He knew the town's regulations inside and out and knew how to structure the project so it would pass. - Regrading our entire backyard and building two retaining walls and beautiful stone steps going up through them. His original plan called for one retaining wall but once the project started he realized it really needed two. He ate the cost of the second one. - Working with the pool company we hired separately to nail down and coordinate every last detail. It took him several months to get a straight answer out of them about the type of caulking they used on the tile inside the pool so he could match it exactly, but he did it with a smile. He also coordinated with our propane company about getting the tanks moved. - Installing a beautiful new patio, updating the deck, installing perimeter fencing, installing irrigation (including giving me lessons on our existing irrigation programming box and how to update it), sod and hydroseed, and creating a really great firepit area using boulders from around our property to create natural seating. - Moving our existing shed to (magically) become our new pool house. He had originally budgeted for someone to use some kind of trailer to move it before the pool went in, but the guy's truck broke down so it had to be moved after the pool went in -- which meant he had to rent a crane instead. Again he made the change and ate the additional cost with no complaints. - His attention to detail is just amazing. Everything was done with the highest quality and throughout the project, in every phone or face-to-face interaction I felt like we were the only project he had going on, that he had all the time in the world for us -- even though I knew that was not actually the case. Bottom line -- you will not be disappointed. Our backyard is better than I'd envisioned it, and rather than be stressed out during this complicated project I was able to sit back and enjoy watching it come together, knowing it was in good hands and that the end result would be great. Andover Landscape Design is worth every penny and then some.
