Jula made us fall in love with my home again. She took into account my husband and my (sometimes very different) tastes, our day to day life, the space/light we have, and even my cultural background- and she transformed my home from top to bottom. And she even added some special touches to make the space unique and special to US. She came to every meeting with a strategy, she went to the different stores to TRY the furniture for us, and was here when everything was delivered to place it in the right place and decorated just right. Jula is also an incredible person, making the whole experience pleasurable. I now consider Jula a trusted partner and a friend.

When my husband and I decided to take the plunge from city living to the Montclair suburbs we were so excited. The idea of furnishing a house sounded fun and easy. Boy was I wrong, after random purchases that went awry, I realized I needed the help of a professional. Jula was methodical and very patient with me. By following her process the rooms looked connected, and flowed. She also didn’t push her own preferences on me at all and really helped me develop my own style/aesthetic. But she also was okay with gently nudging me away from, what in hind site would have been bad choices hahaha. She worked within our budget, never went over, and helped us find which pieces to splurge on and alternatives when necessary. I would recommend Jula to anyone! She was wonderful.

As I sat on the empty floor of our new home with many paint swatches thinking, I can do this myself, I realized how much I needed help. Thankfully, I was introduced to Jula and soon realized how invaluable she was from start to where I am now, (as I am still working on the finish). She took the time to sit in each room with large paint swatches (that she created) to see which color worked best with the light in that room. On some things, I had my own ideas and on others I had none. She helped execute both my ideas and to incorporate my style in areas where I had no idea. She helped tremendously with scale. Both my husband and myself like large furniture however, she helped in directing us into the appropriate size furniture for our Victorian home with lots of smaller rooms. Most importantly for us is that she helps at our own pace. If we are not financially ready to do something, we wait and do what we can as we go. She works on every budget and style to make your home represent you. I wanted my house to feel like a home and represent my family and what we liked and not like a designer had put their stamp on my home. She helped to do that, was a pleasure to work, and my kids love her to boot! We are big Jula fans and highly recommend her all the time!

Jula was one of the first people I met when I moved to Montclair, as she was recommended by my realtor, and she is still one of the BEST people I know in Montclair. We live in a six bedroom 1920s home and Jula worked with me to transform each room into exactly what I imagined for the space. When we first met, I told Jula I wanted my home to be an oasis from my chaotic job and it is exactly that. People will tell me that they feel a sense of calm when they walk into our home and Jula created that interior through her design. It’s worth mentioning that I have two toddlers and Jula has created a space that allows them to be kids and play, but it does not look like the kid’s toys overtook the house. One thing I found particularly special about Jula, besides her warmth and amazing eye, is her willingness to make the experience of decorating your house a team effort. I love design, so she worked with me to be part of the process. My husband did not understand why we needed an interior decorator when we moved into our house because I love design, but after seeing Jula transform each room, he is won over and now we are both squarely on Team Jula.

The first thing you should know, is that I never write reviews for professionals. Jula Cordeira is the exception because she is simply exceptional. From conception to completion, she will work within your budget, combining a strong opinion for each design element, with knowledge of other necessary components, such as construction, painting and tiling. The design concept she proposes will not be limited to the confines of the area of focus, it will encompass and complement the character of your entire home. Full disclosure, my husband and I are the most difficult clients a designer could encounter. We question, overthink, delay and then re-think again. Jula has not only been our designer, she has been our advisor and anchor throughout the process. We began working with Jula on a kitchen re-model. The single job, morphed into including the dining room, living room and now family room. Did I mention that she’s exceptional. .

If you are considering engaging a designer to help with any renovation projects, I would highly recommend Jula Cordeira. If, like me, you have a lot of ideas of your own, she is the perfect choice. Although strong in her own creative perspective, she is able to give guidance in a way that enables your vision to come to life while avoiding any aesthetic and/or costly errors. Additionally, she can run interference with your contractor on issues of scheduling and budgeting with tact and firmness. In sum, I could not have accomplished my recent condo renovation without Jula's help, encouragement and good humor and I would recommend her without reservation.

We bought a 5,000sqf 1907 house in Montclair, NJ. Jula was the best that could happen to us, she was able to keep the character of the house and integrate our European modern taste with some elegant elements. She is very professional, has a wonderful character and she has the incredible capacity to interpret our taste. She decorated our house making it our home and she is still working with us on several other projects, garden, bathroom renovations, etc. In addition, she helped us to decorate our brownstone in Brooklyn before putting into the market and we got several offers. I would highly recommend her for small projects and for bigger projects. I trust her blind!

Jula was a pleasure to work with from start to finish of our project. Her expertise and gentle guidance was invaluable. You have probably gone through something like this more than once yourself. Yes, I'm talking about moving. It's something we all dread. You finally find the right place to live and then comes the question: Will my furniture fit? Will my rugs fit? What about the colors on the walls, will it all work? Moving to a new place can be overwhelming but not when you have Jula on hand. She had a plan for us. Jula measured our existing furniture and new apartment, and using her interior design program, she planned multiple spaces for us. She gave us options so we could decide which ones worked the best for us. When moving day came, thanks to Jula we already knew where to place all of our "stuff" and I have to say it really saved us a lot of time and frustration. We didn't have to re-shuffle furniture back and forth like we had to during our previous move. She had a place in mind for everything. The existing colors on the walls were definitely not something we could live with, so we asked Jula to help us. The colors she chose made a huge difference. It made our kitchen and hallway seem bigger. The living room and other rooms now complemented each other perfectly. You can tell that she is very passionate about colors and has a great feel for choosing the right ones for any space. Her collection of over-sized hand-painted color samples is pretty impressive and made it a breeze to make our choice. No multiple trips to the hardware store, no painting samples on the walls. Within minutes we had chosen our colors. Done. Now I hope we will never move again, however, if we do, I know just the right person to hire to come to the rescue........
