We recently had the pleasure of working with Kate and her husband Derek to do a renovation and addition to our home of 12 years. This was a monster of a project that encompassed taking the inside of the house basically down to studs and adding 12 feet to the back of the home (on several levels). Over the course of six months, they completely transformed our 1950’s split-level into a modern, beautiful home that exceeded all our expectations. Kate Gryzmala, her husband Derek, and their team are the perfect interior design and construction company. We hired them to update our kitchen and completely gut and redo our primary bathroom. Other designers told us we needed to get all new cabinets in our kitchen, but Kate walked in, looked around, and immediately stated we didn’t need new cabinets and insured us that our kitchen would look totally updated while keeping our cabinets. She was right! Not only does it look amazing and updated but we were also able to save a lot of money. I don’t think there is anything that Derek can’t do. He is very talented and a true perfectionist. If you can imagine it, he can build it. Derek and his entire team are hardworking, professional, and trustworthy. They were respectful of our house, neat, worked every day from 8-5, and were courteous to our whole family. I had never worked with an interior designer, so I didn’t know what to expect. It was a pleasure working with Kate! Kate made the experience fun and walked us through the whole process. She is incredibly gifted, easy to work with, detail-oriented, cost-conscious, and always accessible. Kate is passionate about design, and it shows in her positive attitude, energy level, and enthusiasm. She took the time to listen to our likes, wants, and needs and then helped us choose everything (paint colors, backsplash, tiles, vanities, tub, lighting, mirrors, etc.) by joining us at stores and picking 5-10 options for each item and sending us the links to each item. Having her do research and narrow down the choices for us was so helpful and made the process less overwhelming. She also shared her designer discounts and got us price adjustments when possible. If you are looking for a fantastic interior designer who is fun to work with, I would highly recommend Kate. She made the process extremely easy and stress-free. Last month I did something I’ve been dreaming of since I bought my Village Shires townhouse 4+ years ago…I got a master bathroom put in my bedroom and updated the hall bathroom for the boys(which we all shared until now). Kate Gryzmala and her husband Derek Kate Grzymala Design are a design and construction power couple. They are so talented in their individual crafts and their attention to detail was amazing. I had no idea how this was going to look, but Kate took me by the hand and guided me through tiles, vanities, mirrors, paint colors…everything, until I had MY own bathroom. Derek and his team of contractors worked from 8-5 everyday until it was finished! They were kind and respectful of me working from home the entire time. I could go on forever about how wonderful I think these people are, how excited the boys are about their bathroom or how happy I am to have my own space. Kate can provide my contact information if you need a reference, I’m happy to talk to anyone who is on the fence or trying to decide between contractors/bids. I had over 5 estimates.

We worked with Kate to design our bathroom for the hallway. We left the design and colors to our children. We were nervous thinking it wouldn't work. Kate said with excitement "Do not worry, I can make this work" Did she ever! Kate's attention to detail, the her education of dimension and unique use of color transformed this bathroom into one of the nicest we have ever seen. Working with Kate personally was also a pleasure. She was always available for us, took the time we needed to choose the new materials and work within our planned budget. Everyone on her team were true professionals. They were extremely neat and courteous. There is no question we will be using them again for our next project.

Kate, Derek and their team did a wonderful job on upgrading my entire house including bathrooms, powder room, kitchen, loft, feature walls as well as finishing the basement. Kate has great taste and ideas and Derek executes to perfection- no ask is too big for them. I call him McGyver. They aim to delight and the final product speaks for itself. This was my first design/remodel experience that felt like fun, I didn’t want it to end. And they finished on time!

I have been working with Kate, decorating my entire house, for six months. It has been an amazing experience. She is AMAZING. This was my first time working with an interior designer, so I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised how well it all turned out. Kate came to my house for the initial consultation to discuss with I wanted to do. I needed a guest bedroom design and new shelving for my garage. She is very professional and accommodating to my ideas/vision of the rooms. She is very knowledgeable about design and freely shares it. I feel I know a little more about design, and I appreciate it. Kate communicated throught email and text, sending me items that would look good and that I could order. She then set up a day when we met up to go shopping for items that are best to purchase in person. When all the items were at the house she set up a day when she and her team would come and put it all together. Kate and her team were very respectful of my house and very time efficient. She made sure I was happy with everything that was done before they all left for the day. Overall-great job. Would definitely hire Kate for another project.

Kate and Derek are the ultimate duo for any home remodeling project. Kate held my hand through the difficult design choice process and Derek dealt easily with any problems we had during the renovation process. They finish the project in record time which is unheard of these days. I absolutely love my master bathroom and would recommend this team to anyone.

Kate is a very talented designer and decorator. She did an absolutely beautiful job of decorating our home. She took our mix of eclectic styles and created a beautiful, consistent, contemporary style home. She beautified our home. When I reached out to Kate we were in the middle of having our kitchen renovated. Kate got here just in time to save us from making decisions that would have resulted in a very dark kitchen. She made excellent suggestions that we are very happy with. Two of our rooms were very challenging for me to decorate, but Kate had no problem with them and turned them into beautiful rooms. She’s amazing! Working with Kate was a total pleasure. She is hard-working, patient, dependable, reliable, honest, kind, and respectful. I highly recommend Kate! Thank you Kate!!
