Katie Hastings Architecture

Working with Katie on our home renovation project was a wonderful experience start to finish! When we first began exploring ideas, we had a pretty good list of goals in terms of square footage, new rooms, and upgrades we wanted, but it was daunting trying to create a plan to get there. Within a couple of sessions with Katie, she had multiple solutions we hadn’t considered but loved nonetheless. Katie has amazing vision and a keen eye for design paired with a practical approach that helped us tremendously when it came time to make trade-off decisions in order to stay within our budget. She was also incredibly patient as we navigated the challenges of COVID supply chain issues and debated all of the various finish selections. Beyond developing the initial plans, and recommending an awesome builder, Katie was extremely supportive as we encountered red tape with the city and new restrictions on building materials and safety codes that didn’t exist when we started the project. Having Katie there to help us figure out next steps and keep the forward progress going was invaluable. If you’re interested in tackling a large home renovation, I can’t think of a better recommendation than Katie. We love our new and improved home and feel so fortunate to have worked with her. Katie is fantastic! I had never worked with an architect before I asked Katie to help me design/construct a large covered porch on the back of my (100 year-old) house, but I wanted to make sure that the project looked beautiful and was permitted/designed correctly. I had no idea where to start, but Katie held my hand every step of the way. Given the age of my house (and the neighborhood), there were design and permitting issues that seemed overwhelming to me --- Katie had it covered. She carefully walked me through every step of the process, clearly explaining everything in language I understood, and she provided design options that I could review and choose from. She completely managed everything, designed a porch that was exactly what I envisioned, and kept the project running smoothly despite an incredibly cumbersome permitting process. I truly enjoyed working with her, and my porch is BEAUTIFUL! I now give her name to everyone who visits and compliments my new addition, which I think speaks for itself.

Katie is so easy & enjoyable to work with, and her style is very sophisticated yet accessible. She transformed our beloved home by bringing out its best qualities and elevating it to a level we never knew it could reach.
