About Us

L. A. Rizzolo Architects, Ltd have been designing homes since 1991. A small boutique architectural firm specializing in additions, and renovations to older and historic homes on the north shore and Chicago area. Work also includes vacations homes and second homes in Wisconsin and Michigan.

Lesa Rizzolo has done two projects for us over the past years, taking our century-old house and turning it into a beautiful, updated home that has worked wonderfully for our evolving family. People walking by always stop to tell us how much they love our house...I am not exaggerating! Best thing is, we do too. She brings a killer combination of razor-sharp technical skills, robust creative vision, and a genuine collaborative sensibility. Can't sing her praises enough! We have used L.A. Rizzolo for several projects: the staged renovation of our primary home (actually two projects), and the renovation of our 150-year old farmhouse. In each case, Lesa did not disappoint. Her engineering skills were invaluable in both situations: you never know what you're going to find behind those walls in a reno, or above that ceiling. Lesa was ready with creative and interesting suggestions for all "surprises." In addition, her design skills made for wonderfully livable spaces in two properties that serve very different functions. We continue to get compliments on the beauty and great layouts of our places, and frankly would not bother calling anyone else for our next project. We wholeheartedly recommend Lesa and company. Commented: Could you please share the color of the trim?The trim is a custom color - created by a colorist. We were trying to create a color between the traditional "brown" seen on Tutor homes, and a more muted gray'green.
