About Us

We are a Los Angeles-based interior design services company and mother-daughter team. We design dreams into reality, from blueprints to bedding. Lisa Queen Design is a full service, licensed interior design services company that evolved over many years from the "meraki" of Lisa Queen. We specialize in design build (think: hammers and nails!), interior furnishings (think: the soft and the twinkly!), and art sales (think: manifesting your inner art collector!). Lisa and Sara Queen work side by side to turn design dreams into reality and inspire beauty and innovation in art and in life. In addition to making "pretty", Lisa Queen Design provides interior architectural design direction, material specifications for construction (think: what does my builder need to know?), and we fill your home with furnishings (think: sofas, rugs, decorative lighting, pillows, bedding, tables, chairs...etc. etc. etc!). We also provide curated art selections, custom bedding, and new tableware - all the way down to helping prepare you for your important entertaining events at home. Our full service design approach includes: Design build: ie. remodeling and ground up build projects - space planning - working directly with architects and structural engineers as needed on major remodels and new construction - schematic drawings - detailed material specifications and finish plans including design for tile, stone, plumbing & appliances, and more Furnishings: ie. everything that falls out of the house when you turn it upside down! (almost...) - furniture layouts - furniture plans for purchasing, repurposing, or creating new - decorative lighting design and selection - anything else you can think of that makes your home feel like home to you! I hired Lisa Queen Design, Inc. to design my home during a remodel. I could not have been in better hands. Lisa and Sara were easy to work with, very reliable, and always responsive. I am quite particular and LQD did an amazing job of listening to me and understanding what I wanted. They designed beautiful custom furnishings to blend with the antiques I purchased. Lisa and Sara work with very capable furniture makers and use only the highest quality fabricators for the furnishings. They had creative solutions to challenges we faced during the project, and would strongly advocate on my behalf when necessary. My house looks incredible!

Lisa designed our Los Angeles office. She did such an amazing job that we asked her to help with the interior design on our home in Newport Beach. Lisa understood what I wanted and was able to beautifully deliver the feel that I wanted in my home. Lisa is professional, responsive and generous- even helping us remotely with design decisions for another family member.

Working with Lisa and Sara was an absolute pleasure from day one. They are both the most professional, classiest women and a joy to get to know. They get the ball rolling right away and come prepared at every single meeting with a range of ideas and suggestions. I could have never done my project without their knowledge and take charge style. Their creative ideas were exciting and they always came to the table with multiple options. They worked tirelessly to find the exact thing I was looking for and also kept me on track for timing and budget. I have the highest respect for their work ethic and talent and would highly recommend them for any project. They are honest, caring and simply wonderful people. Lisa and Sara where great to work with from the start. They know there trade and take the time to understand your wants and needs. Our home was a challenge from a design stand point and after meeting many designers they where able to achieve the look and feel we had hoped for. Their attention to detail is remarkable and made sure to keep us completely informed of all schedules and timeline throughout the entire duration of the renovation. Nothing worse then false promises as we all have faced in renovations, so for us this was a pleasure and would recommend them to anyone who asks.

We are a very hands on couple when it comes to the design of our home. We looked for a design partner to share our ideas and inspire us with new ones. We found our collaborator in LQD! It was a great pleasure to work with Lisa and Sarah on our recent home renovation. We gutted the kitchen, several bathrooms, raised ceilings, reconfigured rooms, built a library nook, you name it. From concept to design build to innovative decor/paint finishes, LQD was great. We worked with Lisa and Sarah for almost a year to bring our project to fruition. We love our new home! Lisa and Sarah are consummate professionals, incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic and think out of the box. Also, notably, Lisa is EXTREMELY detail oriented and has profound design build skills. Do yourself a favor and work with LQD. You won't be sorry!

We hired Lisa and Sara to renovate our master bedroom and bathroom. Both rooms and the fireplace were gutted, and ceilings were reconfigured. We could not be happier with the result. They brought a fresh, classy, unique look to the spaces yet ensured they fit with the rest of the house. They referred to my houzz and Pinterest boards to understand my tastes, and checked with my husband on his as well. They were great listeners. I can't believe how well they blended old pieces with new, neutrals with bold color...and it all pulls together. It's a relaxing space. A retreat. Gorgeous. I can't wait to use them again for our other tired spaces.

The mother/daughter of this team is such an added benefit to the project detail most construction additions require. These two compliment each other so well, insuring minutia detail and construction scheduling is adhered to and managed. I added on 700 sq ft of an addition, including a walk in closet, beautiful 200+ sq ft bathroom, wine and storage plus a laundry room. No easy feat, but all came out flawlessly. We're really happy. They're hopefully taking some photos soon but just love my little house now so much. On top of this addition, we made changes in the kitchen which allowed me to get another oven and a built-in fridge taking my kitchen's utility to a whole new level...genius!

I've worked on multiple projects with Lisa over the course of several years - 1 residential and 1 commercial for me, and then projects for both my mother and my aunt. All of these projects spanned different aesthetics and personal tastes and Lisa was able to easily cover many genres. In one project we converted a roughly finished office space into a classical “Georgian” style office suite. For my West Side apartment we worked together to create a sophisticated and masculine feeling space, while still feeling welcoming and comfortable. She worked with my mother in finishing a British Colonial style beach vacation house, which later became her permanent residence. Lisa also spearheaded a significant refresh for my aunt when we were recovering from a loss in the family. Lisa’s work is innovative in both the design build and interior furnishings aspects of her work. She is very efficient and honest- two qualities I value highly in both personal and professional relationships. Besides being creative, she has always helped solidify a vision, she is as specific with details as I am which enabled me to trust that the final product was going to be what we envisioned. I have always been pleased with both the process and the results.

After building a modern house with no architect, my partner and I ended up with a place that looked a rather boxy and uninviting. Lisa not only made the interiors warm and sophisticated, but also helped with the exterior of the house, namely designing the large windows and front door. Her tasteful selection of wall treatments and features maintained the modern top-notch flair of the home while making it inviting as well. The home ended up being a stunner. She was also a joy to work with. No attitude!

We recently downsized our house to a detached condominium. Having too much furniture and nowhere to put it, I began to stress out. Not only did we have to buy all new furniture but we endeavored some minor construction. This is where Lisa came in. I had seen some of her renovations and decorating skills and thought she would be perfect for us. She was! She spent much time explaining everything which made me feel much more relaxed. The construction she helped us with was spot on and the pieces she found for our home were perfect! I would highly recommend this dynamic mother/daughter team anytime.

Lisa did a full remodel for our home. She literally changed our life for the better. Before even started, she took the time to understand our family, how we live and what we like. She designed a home that worked perfectly for us. I also had a very unique schedule which had me out of town often. So, at times we were very hands on and other times very hands off. She worked beautifully with us and was able to ebb and flow with our communication needs. Not only is she a very talented designer, she is truly a pro. She ensured product and vendors were on time and of high quality. She was very diligent about budget and carefully audited all vendor invoices. Every time someone steps into our home and complements the decor, I give her full and credit and pass her name on. Many I know have since used her and have been absolutely delighted. Lisa and her team are the absolute best!
