I found Lori via a Pinterest post of a beautiful kitchen remodel and reached out to her via email. The kitchen was stunning, not the normal you see today where it is plain, she adds texture, she adds color, so talented, a true eye for design. What really sets her apart, though, is how kind and patient she is. She consistently went out of her way to answer my endless questions and made sure I got the backsplash I fell in love with from this original kitchen remodel. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a top-notch designer!

Lori Wallick of Lori K Design created a whole house redesign for our home and managed the 9-month project which began during 2024 and finished in early 2025. We were referred to Lori Wallick by our Realtor, Becky Prater, who in 2012, sold us our 2 bedroom, 2 baths + sun room, 1900 square ft. home in Chico. After living in the home untouched for 12 years, we decided it was time for a new look. The challenge: husband and wife had vastly different design ideas and were unable to find common ground on either design or scope of the project. We required an experienced designer with a proven record who could diplomatically blend the divergent dreams of the homeowners into something special they would both enjoy. Let me say, the grace and elegance that we saw in Lori during our first meeting was just a small glimmer of the incredible finished product she delivered. She turned a 1970’s “nothing special” ranch home into a designer’s showcase. Not only was the design beautiful, but the flow and functionality created for each space was amazing. No detail was overlooked. Lori’s contractors & vendors were top tier and they delivered outstanding craftsmanship. The project ran on time and on budget. Invoicing was clear and accurate with full detail that could be tracked to the budget line items. As with any remodel project, there were unknown problems that arose, but they were all beautifully resolved with practical, cost-effective solutions. Contractors & vendors collaborated seamlessly with Lori skillfully managing every step of the project. Her communication with us was timely and always ahead of decision points, preventing any “I wish I had known,” moments. Since we were not living in Chico during the remodel, Lori kept us regularly updated with phone & facetime conversations and many photos. This project was an incredibly joyful experience for my husband and me, not to mention fun! When we our bought house 7 years ago I knew the primary bathroom needed a complete overhaul. The day we looked at the house I told my husband the bathroom had to go…although spacious it was stuck in the 80’s with a monstrous tub and carpet everywhere. I once read a designer describing some rooms as needing a “slap in the face.” Ours needed more like a left hook. Unbelievably, six years went by before I took the first steps to get the project rolling. After calling several general contractors I discovered the good ones all had projects lined up for the next year to 18 months, in large part due to the rebuilding underway in Paradise. Serendipitous is one of my favorite words to toss out occasionally. Discovering Lori K Designs in a Google search was definitely serendipitous. Finding the right designer is largely about trust and I knew the first time we met I had hit the designer jackpot. Part of my procrastination was from not knowing exactly what I wanted. I would have struggled with indecision were I picking out all the items for a bath remodel myself, but with Lori’s guidance the choices came easily. She has a great eye for color and materials and a vision for the space itself. Another attribute Lori possesses is organization. She stays on top of the schedule and communicates well with her client as well as her contractors. There are no surprises. And speaking of contractors, she manages to find the best in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and tile…all were top notch. Lori went the extra mile for us by installing the film (twice!) on the shower window after I ordered the wrong type of film. She strives to please! We are both very happy and feel we finally entered the 21st century with our new bathroom space. If there are any regrets it’s that I did not Google sooner!

We loved working with Lori! We had our kitchen remodeled and floors replaced. She is honest, reliable, knowledgeable and an efficient project manager! Lori is very organized and our project was seamless from start to finish. She has a very competent team that works really cohesively throughout the remodel. She is great about communicating with clients, and always had time for the many questions that would come up. She had wonderful ideas and suggestions; her sense of design is intuitive; she listened to us, and incorporated our ideas into the final design. We would give Lori our highest recommendation. She just takes care of everything! That's the best way to describe working with Lori. From the design to the final details, she makes sure everything is perfect! I'm the type of person who knows what I'm looking for but don't trust my own design sense to execute it myself. She listens to your wants, needs, likes and dislikes and creates a design to match your style and budget. In my case, I was out of town for a majority of my remodel. She and her crew took care of my home, kept remodeled sections tidy, and confined. Every element was planned and executed on time. On-time completion is gold in this day and age. I am so happy with my newly remolded kitchen, that I have already referred her to 2 of my friends! I highly recommend Lori K Design Studio!

The very best thing that happened for us while building our new home was meeting Lori Wallick of Lori K Design Studio. Throughout construction Lori was professional, accessible, and extremely organized. Her friendly personality and design knowledge eased the stress of choosing flooring, paint colors, tile, counter tops, cabinets, lighting, hardware and on-and-on. She listened to what we wanted, made recommendations when and where needed, and provided an amazing group of licensed, reliable contractors. Working with Lori was the best decision we made when deciding to do a kitchen re-model. She was extremely organized with all details of the project and kept the contractors on schedule! We couldn’t have done it without Lori! Approximately 8 years ago, we moved to our small 15-acre ranch which has been in the family since the 1970s. The house is one of the original homesteads in this small farming community, now 104 years old. We have done quite a bit with our home’s infrastructure, but very minimal work within the house. It has all the original “craftsman” woodwork in the dining and living rooms, so we wanted to keep it period, with a few modern amenities. We had a vision of what we wanted to do and how we wanted it to look. At first we thought about doing the work ourselves in small increments but had no idea where to start, and the thought of having to find contractors and subcontractors was just another obstacle. We did a little research in our area on local designers, and Lori piqued our interested based on all the wonderful reviews. We contacted Lori, and within a few months, the renovation began. Originally, we needed to finish the kitchen we had partially renovated years ago, completely revamp the laundry and mudroom, and refinish all the wood flooring throughout the remainder of the downstairs. But once we had everything opened up, we decided to include a small bathroom, and a flight of stairs leading upstairs. Lori managed the complete project and bought in her own team of contractors and subs; and they were fantastic! Her many years of experience were instrumental throughout the whole process. She saw our vision and made recommendations when and where needed. It’s one thing to imagine what it will look like in your head, and another to see it come to fruition. It turned out even better than anticipated! There is no doubt in our minds that we couldn’t have done it without Lori; and we’d do it again!

The best! After losing our house in the Camp Fire and living in our RV for four months, we bought a house in North Chico that needed serious updating. I called Lori for help choosing paint colors after coming across her website and liking what I saw. Together with Lori, we ended up redoing/remodeling every room in the house and loving the end results. Lori brings a wealth of experience, contacts and knowledge to every project and is just as comfortable helping clients choose paint or decor as she is running a remodel or an addition. Lori has amazing relationships with her contractor partners and manages the construction projects herself. We realized early on how much easier our lives were without having to find contractors, get bids and manage the jobs. Her partners are professional, do excellent work and we were very comfortable having them in our home. Lori understood our taste and style and worked with us to design and decorate our perfect home within our budget. Lori consistently kept in contact with us every step of the way even during down time between projects or while waiting for orders to arrive. She is a delight to work with, extremely talented and a joy to be around.

Lori is amazing. She really listened to me about my vision for the complete remodel of my modest 630 sqft. “Treehouse”. I truly appreciate her skill and attention to details as I really have never done anything like this before. We have a modest (1980’s) home in North Chico ~ 1275 sq/ft that was in need of some major updates. As we looked into remodeling on our own it became overwhelming real quick as we were ripping out cabinets and adding some additional counter space, installing new floors throughout and repainting all rooms, all of which was a lot to comprehend. We ended up putting the project on hold as we had no idea where to start, who to contact or what to do next. We happened upon Lori K Design Studio and thought lets just meet with her and see what she has to say, we instantly felt a great connection with her and she broke down the project so we could understand it. We wanted to maintain our heritage (Mexican/American), but with a newer modern spin, that is when we came up with “Mexico Meets Manhattan”, she went over our style, what we wanted from the remodel and how much we wanted to spend. Lori has her own amazing group of contractors she works with and picked up the project with no hesitation, she kept everyone on track and moving forward never booking them over each other and working in real time, whilst we lived in the house. We added items on throughout our journey (like a full bathroom remodel), but she always kept us mindful our budget and ROI. In the end, we love our New Kitchen & Bathroom as well as the new floors, shutters, and paint throughout the house. It is a new and fresh look that we could have never imagined.
